BEEP BEEP BEEP! I sit up straight in my bed and glare at the blinking red dots I slowly place my hand above the death trap and slam down as hard as I can hoping to break it but only successfully killing my hand. I grumble as I slide out of my bed and over to the bathroom where I look in the mirror scowling at my appearance, I brush my hair and teeth before splashing some water on my face to wake up. I walk back into my bedroom and open my dresser I through on a button up shirt and plain black skirt some white knee high socks and my black flats....I'm only dressing like this because Jessie reamed me for an hour about how first impressions are key but I think jeans and a tee would have been fine, it was just gonna be covered by my cloak anyway. I grab the trunk and set it on the end of my bed going through all my stuff one last time. I grab my wand off the counter and carry my trunk out of my room and down the stairs where two other suitcases sat, my name neatly placed on them I grabbed my backpack that hung by the door and placed my wand inside. Preassure against my leg makes me look down and there sat Gravis.

"you do know if you wanna come with your gonna have to be in a crate for a little while." he glared at me "I don't make the rules" I shrugged and walked over to the living room where Jessie sat watching TV "even when I try to wake up early you're always like 300 steps ahead" she looked back and smiled.

"I'm just prepared" it was 9 in the morning and McGonagall said that now that I had my wand, for protection, I had permission to use apparition on us mainly because she couldn't guide me saying something along the lines of 'I have to be at the school early to greet the arriving students.'

"are the twins up I'd like to take them for ice cream before I leave" she was about to answer but two little voices broke in.

"all ready!" the twins cheered in there matching sailor suit themed outfits that I got them, I smiled at how they both tied the neckties wrong.

"come here" they ran over and I fixed them before patting both their heads "I'll teach you how to do it next time ok" they both nodded and I looked at Jessie who was already standing.

"I'll get the coin purse, let's go." they all grabbed my arms and I used a simple spell...that I still hate....and teleport us to an empty street, we walked up around the corner and there sat a small ice cream joint that I remember my parents taking me to a very long time ago.

"wait were buying muggle ice cream?" Jessie asked and I pulled out a wallet filled with muggle dollars handing it to her.

"I traded our currency to theirs, for a general use" she nodded and we walked up to the front where a kind looking, old man, stood I looked down and it looked like Leo and Kaity were having trouble seeing so I picked them both up, Kaity spoke first.

"I want bubble gum with Gummi bears!" her eyes sparkled and Leo just looked devious.

"triple chocolate smacks down" he read the sine.

"well I'll be darned you can read pretty well their young man" the man spoke, Leo puffed out his chest with pride.

"(y/n) here was the one who taught them" Jessie bragged as I blushed a bit.

"well, what would the lass like?" I wasn't feeling very hungry at the moment.

"I'll just take a vanilla cone please" I smiled and set down Kaity and Leo.

"and I would like a mint with chocolate chips" Jessie ordered and the man started and I looked over too her.

"McGonagall said she would hire a house elf to help manage this year. I should be home every holiday and if you need anything I'm just a letter away" I spoke lowly as I went over everything and Jessie only rolled her eyes smiling as she walked up to the counter handing the two their Ice cream though before they even took a bite they ran over to me hugging my waist.

"Thanks, (y/n) were really gonna miss you" they said in unison before digging in, I just smiled and grabbed my cone from the man and paying him, we sat down and enjoyed the sweet treat just talking for about an hour before we went back to the house, Gravis greeted me the second we got back and as I promised him yesterday I put down a smaller cup of ice cream and he began eating it automatically.

"he's an odd cat" Kaity smiled.

"You sure he can't stay here?" Leo asked and I shook my head.

"I gotta bring him to school so I can turn him into a teacup" Gravis stopped licking his ice cream and glared at me, I just stick my tongue out and walk over to the door checking my backpack and luggage one last time looking at my list every other second.

"Gosh how paranoid can you be if you need anything we can owl it to you" I nodded.

"you're right I just need to relax" suddenly there was a loud cracking sound and a thing appeared behind me as I jumped in front of Jessie and the twins, I then identified that this as the house elf that was meant to help out.

"Oh, Constable is very sorry for scaring mistress and her family" the elf bowed and a small flashback to the girl I met in the alley that day came to mind before disappearing again.

"no need to apologize, we were just about to leave for the station." I smiled instead and the elf nodded.

"Constable could teleport mistress and her family, Constable heard mistress does not like apparition and the spell Constable uses is different, fewer side effects" I didn't even have to think it over.

"Yes please, thank you!" I smiled brightly walking over as the elf let out a squeal.

"The rumor of mistresses kindness is true" I pause.

"What rumor?" but I was interrupted by Gravis who let out a growl from his opened cage telling me to hurry. I just shook it off grabbing my stuff and then taking Constable's hand and before I knew it we were sitting in front of Kings Cross station my stuff already neatly placed on a trolley I looked back to see Leo and Kaity holding hands as they started skipping into the building Jessie following closely behind making sure they didn't get lost as Constable showed us the way.

"hey (y/n) why do none of the muggers see Constable?" I looked down at Kaity who was now by my side.

"because there was a spell cast on her that avers the muggles attention unless she is directly pointed out so stay quiet" I answered and Kaity nodded satisfied with the information. I was still anxious about all the people who were starting to form. I kept my eyes glued on Jessie and the twins as we continued to walk "were here!" Constable chirped snapping me out of my trance, I looked down and saw Constable pointing at a pillar I was about to run into.

"Follow me" she spoke before...running through the wall, excited Leo and Kaity went first Jessie, of course, went with them but me? I stood frozen.

"Of all things I had to do why do I have to run into a wall" I whined slightly.

"Oh come on it's not that hard" I turned around quickly to see a very familiar face Sirius stood only about an inch away startling me I stumbled back but caught myself on my trolley but it swerved causing me to fall on my but and through the barrier.

"Elegant, now hurry and stand before you get run over" Jessie crossed her arms and redirected my trolley Constable automatically tried her best to help me.

"Why did mistress fall?" that's when I heard a light laugh I turned again to see Sirius he was smiling.

"Jerk!" I yelled at him and he frowned.

"Well it got you through the barrier we all know you wouldn't have done it any other way" I glared lightly but let up.

"If I just had someone go with me it wouldn't have been nearly as scary" I pouted and turned grabbing my trolley looking into the cage just to see it opened and I felt a force once again at my feet.

"Gravis you weren't supposed to come out until I said you could he just jumped up and laid himself on the top of my backpack peeking over my shoulder, I just sighed and looked around.

"There are too many people" I slumped till an arm was wrapped around mine.

"Don't worry I'll lead you through to safety" Sirius announced and honestly I was about to accept till Gravis clawed and hissed at him, and Sirius jumped back, this confused me.

"That's weird he's never been this aggressive towards anyone before" he scowled a bit.

"I guess I'm special, oh well then how about I push your trolley and you stay close" and I nodded.

"But hold on" I walked a few steps back to the others kneeling down "I'll be leaving now" I smiled lightly as Leo and Kaity ran over hugging me.

"As I said before, if anything goes wrong just owl me and I'll be there in seconds flat" I smiled and they nodded before I stood and walked over hugging Jessie "take care of yourself and remember Constable is here to help you with the chores ok" she rolled her eyes and pushed me back towards Sirius.

"Enjoy school and don't worry about us we'll send letters every week" I nodded and turned walking over to Sirius as Constable grabbed all their hands and they disappeared, I took a deep breath and ran over.

"Alright I'm ready to go" he nodded and I walked directly behind him as we made our way to the train, I noticed how people sorta steered clear of him, but I put it out of my mind we finally got up to the side of the train and at this point there was kind of a bubble of no people around us I assumed it was normal considering Sirius didn't look to bothered...scratch that right now he looked just plain sad, he handed my trolley to a hesitant porter, he walked back over to me.

"Let's get on, ya?" I nodded and smiled. he had pulled me inside almost more eager to get out of the crowd than me... we walked down the hall into an empty compartment and he let out a sigh.

"Why were they avoiding you?" I asked as I sat down across from him, Gravis jumped into my lap before curling up again.

"Remember how I told you I wouldn't hurt you, and how at first I thought you were scared of my last name?" I nodded not seeing the picture.

"It's because almost every other person I tried to make friends with before you...they always bolted when they heard my last name, it's like a cloak that's labeled danger, but they won't even try to see what's under it, the only difference is I didn't tell you my last name before you ran and even when I did that was when you began to warm up a bit...so why did you run?" I tensed.

"Oh uh I guess I thought you were someone else"

"What other kid would strike that kind of fear into you?" he snorted, I was about to retort but a knock on the compartment door interrupted me and in poked the one and only James Potter.

"Hey James!" me and Sirius said together.

"Hey" he walked in I looked at Sirius and we had a silent conversation, but James once again intervened and he plopped down next to me, I just looked at him then back at Sirius smiling innocently he gave me a look.

"So you know Sirius?" I asked him and he nodded "yeah we met at Diagon Alley I was kinda hesitant at first but I realized he was cool despite his family name" I nodded 'how blunt...' so not even James was gonna be his friend. I nodded and began petting Gravis when a familiar scent hit my nose, Remus was gonna be here soon, another knock on the compartment door gained my attention and it opened to reveal none other than him.

"Hi Remus!" then Peter popped his head in "Hi peter" I spoke.

"You all know (y/n)?" he asked James and Sirius.

"What do you mean do they know me, I'm more curious as to how I didn't know you all knew each other"

"they all met after you left" another voice popped in from behind Remus he moved to the side to reveal.

"Oh hey, Ember" Remus smiled.

"Does everybody know each other?" I mumbled and Ember hoped over.

"Nope I only introduced myself to Remus" she snapped her finger and James disappeared and reappeared next to Sirius before she sat down in his place.

"Oh well that makes things a little less confusing" I spoke sarcastically but smiled.

"what the hell just happened" James looked around but his question was ignored.

"I thought it might" she smirked and a awkward silence filled the room as Remus sat next to Ember and peter next to James "So. you have any clue what house you want to be in?"

"(y/n), you saw that right?" Sirius spoke.

"Saw what?" he exaggerated to James and I 'oh'ed.

"Ya Ember used a simple teleportation spell and obviously she's gifted in wandless magic" I threw off the question once more and looked back to Ember "I still don't know what people mean by 'houses'" at this point the train began to move and Gravis annoyed by my constant rotating moved into Embers lap where he sat comfortably.

"You seriously don't know what the houses are?" Peter asked in shock.

"N-no I guess not" I frowned "am I supposed too, please don't tell me there's a test on it" I groaned making the others laugh.

"There isn't a test on the houses but I hear before you're sorted you have to fight a mountain troll, and how you deal with it will decide how your sorted!" Sirius waved his arms around trying to make it a little scarier but successfully making himself look like an idiot, I only laughed.

"Don't be stupid you're sorted by the sorting hat" Ember started to Explain "There are 4 houses Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor,-" both Sirius and James interrupted "and Slytherin" Sirius pointed to his mouth as he faked throwing up making me frown "Hufflepuff house values hard work, dedication, fair play, and patience. Ravenclaw house is known for their wisdom, intelligence, creativity, cleverness, and knowledge. The house of the brave, loyal, courageous, adventurous, daring and chivalrous and those who stand up for others are typically Gryffindors. And finally Slytherin This is the house of the cunning, prideful, resourceful, ambitious, intelligent, and determined." I nodded.

"I kinda want to be in Ravenclaw but I hear Gryffindor is gonna be fun this year" Ember laughed.

"Obviously! Gryffindor is the best" James spoke puffing his chest.

"Oh Ya!" Sirius did the same.

"I'm not sure you two would fit in, with that pride you might end up a Slytherin" I teased and they both tensed before deflating "only joking" I mumbled.

"Well back to my question, what do you want to be?" I thought for a second.

"Unlike these two" I pointed towards James and Sirius "I have no reason to be bias towards any of them so I guess I'll just let the hat decide or I'll end up where ever everyone else is" there was another knock on the compartment door I stood and opened it.

"Anything from the rolly dears?" I looked it over.

"I'm not familiar with this so do you guys want anything it's on me"

"Oh, the Chocolate frogs are the best" Ember spoke.

"I like their licorice wands" James added.

"Cauldron cakes are good" Peter sputtered.

"And don't forget the Bertie Botts beans" Sirius smirked as if he was all-knowing. I turned back.

"I don't really like sweets" Remus spoke before stuffing his face back into a book he held.

"I'll get 6 of everything they said" the woman nodded and handed me the stuff and I passed it out as I went

"That will be 6 Galleons and 5 Sickels" I grabbed my coin pouch.

"Could I just give you 7 Galleons and you can keep the change?" she was hesitant

"Are you sure dear?" I nodded smiling and she accepted before leaving, Sirius gave me my portion of the candy and before I sat down I put all but the beans into my backpack.

"So what are these?" I asked studying the box "they look like jelly beans" Peter looked over.

"They are...sorta" Ember tried to explain, I looked up confused.
