He poured the gasoline into the container his clothes already inside, he dropped the match and smiled as the flames consumed his blood soaked clothes.
Each time left him wanting even more, he knew he took a big risk taking out three in one night, he couldn't help himself. His count had gone up to seven, he didn't know how much longer he would have until they started piecing it together.
He shook the thought out of his head and placed the lid on the container, extinguishing the flames, he drilled a hole into the bottom of it and rolled it into the lake and watched as it slowly sunk to the bottom.
He returned to his car, he had class in an hour, criminal psychology even he had to laugh at the irony of it all. He was the true definition of a serial killer, it was so easy to find his victims at that school, every bitch on campus was clueless.
"You need to come to the door when you pick me up Trey" she rolled her eyes "my brother thinks it's rude when you just honk"
Trey looked at her briefly taking his eyes off the road, "seriously?"
"I know he's old fashioned or something" she felt like an idiot, "I don't know, just do it please, besides I think Kim wants to see you too"
"Alright, fine." he didn't spent much time with his aunt and uncle lately, "I haven't seen Anthony in awhile, so I won't honk anymore"
"It's nice to have you back in Chicago" Alan said as he took their bags and put them in the trunk, "where are we headed?" He asked as they climbed in the car.
Daniel shrugged, "a hotel, I guess" he told him, "maybe a the Holiday Inn?" He glanced back at his wife, "yeah?"
Alan chuckled, "you're joking, right?"
Elizabeth huffs from the back seat, "I assure you he is not joking" she couldn't believe they would be staying in such a place, "none of this is a joke"
He parked his car in his usual spot, he tried to keep his car secluded from the rest of the cars he never knew when he would find his next 'date', he had a couple of prospects. One was always with that asshole Trey, so he knew it would be difficult to get her, the other was a complete bitch who acted as if he wasn't worthy of breathing the same air she did.
He hated how the people here treated him, they either saw right through him or they treated him like a third rate citizen, he'd show them though.
"Anthony, you ready to go see Uncle Phil?" Kim called out to the little boy, she was meeting her brother for an early lunch.
"Coming!!" he yelled, "look I put my sneakers on all by myself"
"Good job, let's go!"
"Spread out, talk to as many people as you can" Hank told them before they split up and headed in separate directions.
"Ruzek, this Annie's school?" Sean asked, "you need to tell her man" he hated everything about this case, it brought up too many painful memories, memories he had worked hard to erase.
"It is, I'm sure she knows, it's been all over the news" Adam explained he wasn't sure he wanted to worry his sister or Kim with the new information, they hadn't even told the media yet. Hank was afraid once the media knew of the connection it would destroy any chance they of catching the son of a bitch.
"Hey, doesn't that guy work with your brother?" Trey asked Annie as they left the building and headed towards the parking lot, "and that guy too, oh yeah him too" he laughed as he pointed out Hank, Jay, and Kevin.
"They do, something must have happened" Annie glanced around looking for Adam, "I'm sure my brother is here too, let's get out of here before he sees me" the last thing she wanted to do was run into Adam with Trey.
"Hey there's my favorite little man!" Phil said as Anthony ran into his arms, "You being a good boy?"
Anthony grinned, "yep!" Phil sat him down at the booth and hugged Kim.
"How's it going?" He asked her, kissing Harper's hand, "you look tired"
She smiled, "I'm good, it's just been a crazy morning" she pointed at Anthony "that one is a handful, caught him trying to color on Harper's face this morning"
Phil laughed, "I'm sorry, it's kind of funny" he whispered so Anthony wouldn't hear him, "how's Adam, I tried calling him to see if he wanted to play a round of golf but he hasn't returned my calls"
She opened the menu, "he's tied up on some case, it's bothering him" she told the waitress her order, "he didn't get in until after three this morning and he was gone by eight thirty"
"Is it all those girls that have been killed and dumped in the woods?"
"Probably, but he isn't talking about it, I think he is going to catch up with Al tonight so hopefully that will help" she handed Harper sippy cup, "but, we aren't here to talk about Adam, wants your attorney saying?"
He sighed "I have to wait for visitation until the judge decides to get off his fat ass and makes a decision" they had been in court for weeks, it was vicious. He knew he had hurt his wife, but he had no idea she could be this cruel and vindictive.
"I'm sorry" she hated that he had missed so much of his children's lives, "hopefully soon, right?"
"There's always hope, Kim, there's always hope"
Linda emptied the contents of the duffel bag into the three drawers of the dresser that had been assigned to her, she was beginning to think this place may very well be worse than the hospital.
"Once that's done you need to go downstairs and get your assignments" Beth told her, "and meet your buddy"
Linda looked up at her, "my what?"
"Buddy" Beth leaned against the door frame, "your buddy is someone who has been down this road before and will help you get down it too" she explained
Linda laughed "you're kidding me, I'm not a fucking child. I think I can handle this with out a buddy" she slammed the drawer shut.
"That's what we all say, but trust me you'll be thankful for your buddy" Beth turned and left Linda alone with her thoughts.
"You know Mallory, right?" Trey asked as he doused his cheeseburger in ketchup.
"Why don't you have a cheeseburger with your ketchup, Trey, that's a shitload of ketchup" she said, "yea I know Mallory, why?" She already knew the answer.
"She seeing anyone?"
"No, I don't think so" it stung her, but she knew Trey viewed her as family, the sister of his aunt's husband, planting her firmly in the 'friend zone'
"I think I'm gonna ask her out, am I out of my mind if I do?" He asked wiping the ketchup from his chin.
"No, but she's kind of a bitch, Trey"
He followed Mallory to her car, he knew she was the one for him. He wasn't ruling the other chick out yet, just Mallory had taken priority.
