Elizabeth couldn't believe this was what had become of her, she wanted to scream. The room was tiny and dark, the bedding looked as if it had been on the beds since the seventy's.
"It's not the bad" Daniel told her, he set the bag on the floor, "we need to discuss Kim and Philip" he wanted to see his children he wasn't sure Kim and Adam would want to see him based on how Elizabeth had treated them the last time they had visited. He had been at the office and wasn't home, though he wasn't sure if he had been home it would have been any different.
"If you think I'm going to back to our daughter with my tail between my legs, you're out of your mind" she put the clothes in the drawer, "this place is filthy"
"I'd like to see my daughter, and meet my grandchildren" he told her, he had lost so much that he didn't want to waste anymore time on being angry, "Philip needs us too"
Trey followed Annie inside the house, "Hey Aunt Kim" he smiled, "I'm sorry about this morning I won't honk anymore, can you tell Uncle Adam I'm sorry" he looked for Anthony, "wheres little man?"
"He's sleeping, Annie your dad called he wants to know if you're still going over to his tonight for dinner" Kim told her, their relationship hadn't taken off as much as she would have liked, Annie seemed to be holding back.
"I don't know, is Adam going?" She asked, "I feel weird when you and Adam aren't there" she opened the textbook to start on her homework.
"I don't think so, he's working" Kim told her, "but you should still go, you should give your dad a chance, he loves you"
"I gotta go" Trey said, he hugged Kim, "again tell Uncle Adam I'm sorry"
"Trey it's not that big of a deal, your Uncle is just stressed out" she patted his back, "he isn't as scary as you think you know"
He smiled, "yea, I know. He's pretty intimidating though" Trey felt he didn't like him, he was always staring at him.
They made their way to the front door, "he's only like that because he thinks you like Annie" she whispered, "he's protective of her"
"She's like my cousin Aunt Kim, he doesn't need to worry" he told her, "see you later"
Annie was crushed when she overheard the conversation, she had suspected that he felt that way but to hear him verbalize it made it real.
Mallory was working the register at the campus book store, she watched him as he looked through the t-shirts for what seemed like the thousandth time, he'd been in the store for almost two hours, she was about to approach him when Trey walked in.
"Hey Trey, what's up?" She asked, "what do you need?"
He smiled at her, "you" he said causing her to blush, "I was hoping you would grab some food or something tomorrow night" he caught movement out of the corner of his eye, "what's he doing?" He asked as he pointed to Zeke.
"Not sure, he's starting to creep me out, he's been in here for two hours and just stares at me" she told him.
"I will get rid of him" Trey told her, "hey, you need to buy something or get out man" he raised his voice, when Zeke didn't respond Trey shoved him, "get the fuck out freak!"
"Whatever. I'm going" Zeke said as he left, his eyes lingering on Trey and then Mallory.
"Thanks, that kid is seriously weird" she said as she leaned on the counter, "thanks for being my hero" she smiled at him.
"That's what I'm here for, so tomorrow night, we good?"
"Yeah, pick me up around 8?"
"Perfect" Trey told her, he leaned across the counter and kissed her cheek, "see you then"
Zeke made his way to his car, "you dumb fuck!" he muttered, Trey Burgess was such as an ass. Who the hell did he think he was, sure he was the all-American type, he but he was an ass. Little did he know, that he just fucked with the wrong person, Trey would regret pushing him around.
He parked the car in his parents garage and head straight to the shed, his parents never stepped foot in it, if they did his cover would be blown. He searched for what he needed, this would be difficult to pull off but he knew he could get it done.
"We got nothing, nobody stood out" Jay said as he filled the group in, "the faculty all have clean background checks, same with the custodial staff."
"What about students, anyone seem off?" Hank asked as he flipped through the faculty background checks, "we need to find something, the mayor is breathing down my neck" he slammed the file on the desk, "we need to find this bastard, go back out and beat the bushes, I don't want to see any of your ugly asses back here until you have something we can work with" he slammed his office door, adding an exclamation mark to their tongue lashing.
"Hey O!" Adam said as he took the empty barstool next to him, he motioned to the bartender, "Jack and coke please"
"You look stressed, I'm guessing it's because of those dead girls" he told him, "you need to get it off your chest?"
Adam laughed, "you have no idea Al, it's the hardest case I've ever worked. These girls are the same age as my sister, it's rough" he played with the peanuts in the bowl, "Kim's tried to get me to talk but I can't you know?"
Al understood, "I get it, at home you can push it out of your mind some, but it's impossible to escape. You want your home free of that ugliness"
Adam nodded, "plus, once Kim knows these girls all attended the same college as Annie, she's gonna freak out, I'm barely holding it together"
"What do you know so far?"
"About the same as you Al, which is jack shit"
"Nice, kid, real nice"
"Hey Amy" Annie said as she entered the house, Kim had talked her into going, "where's my dad?"
Amy finished setting the table, "he's in the shower, he hasn't been home from work long. He's thrilled you could make it, we both are"
"Yeah, I'm sorry about canceling last week, I had a ton of homework to catch up on" she told them, she knew they were good people and that they loved her it was just weird being here without Adam and Kim.
Sean sat in his apartment, the lights out and his head in his hands, he didn't even hear the door open.
"Babe, why are you sitting in the dark. What's going on?" Kara asked him, "please talk to me"
He went to the window, "just this case we are working on, it's bringing some things up that I would rather not remember"
"Like what?"
"Kara, I just told you I don't want to talk about it, just leave it alone. Please" he brushed past her and pulled a beer from the fridge, "just leave it alone"
