It took minutes.
It took hours.
It took days.
It took weeks.
It took months.
But somehow, she managed to convince them to let her go with. As it stood, they needed all the help they could get to infiltrate the Chimera's base, and ultimately wipe them out. Isaac Netero didn't at all see a problem with it, which shocked the others. But no one dared to question the Chairman, and truly believed (Name) would be of some help if even the Chairman agreed.
"Why, you all ask?"
He laughed then, further confusing the others.
"(Name) is our trump card, after all. Once she does her job, we are ensured for victory."
Unknowingly to them, that wasn't at all the case. He wasn't referring to her battle ability, or any possible possessions she may have. Killua was suspicious of it, yet had no idea what he meant. But he did notice the way the old man's eyes resided on the Freecss boy, telling (Name) to stay close towards him before exiting. It wasn't much longer until the countdown began.
✿
Netero's words echoed within her brain, as she walked behind her friends. What had it meant? The girl herself did not know. She couldn't allow it to cloud her thoughts, but everything was rushing into her so quickly. This whole situation being an example. Gon, for one, wasn't being his normal self. The usual warmth that radiated from him disappeared completely, and he became so cold and serious. His eyes were blank, and it began to unnerve the (Last Name) girl.
She wasn't one to say yes, therefore she wasn't going to say she was scared. But, it was something close.
She knew Gon wouldn't hurt her, and this hatred was directed. But a sense of doubt formed within her stomach, as he did not seem to like the fact of Pitou wanting to heal someone caught in the aftermath. She did not like where this was going, so abruptly, she announced her leave, claiming she'd go look for lurking Chimera nearby. And she left the two boys alone, but didn't go far. Down the hall seemed good enough, and once she got there, she was shaking.
She was terrified. This situation was scary, and Gon was scaring her. She was at a huge disadvantage with nothing but her strength, and these guys were fast yet tricky. She pulled herself together, using her sleeve to wipe at her eyes. This was not the place for it. Enemy territory wasn't the place for this.
✿
"You... You want me to trust this thing?! I can't do that!"
When Killua said Gon wasn't being himself, (Name) hadn't expected this. He was yelling and screeching, being irrational, and that dark aura of his was always present. She stood beside Killua, about a meter behind him. Gon wasn't even looking at her, as his eyes were on Killua the whole time. She wasn't even noticed.
"?!"
Suddenly, Pitou broke it's arm, gaining everyone's attention.
"If you want, you can have my right arm... If that isn't enough, you can take both legs..!"
The creature looked up quickly, causing few to jerk their head back. It continued on after that, pleading for Gon to let it to continue healing this girl. That girl, someone who's in no doubt important to someone. And immediately, both (Name) and Killua's eyes went to Gon, who seemed to be processing his words. He was visibly upset.
"..Gon-!"
(Name)'s call was only met with harsh fist smashing into the ground. Everyone tensed.
"That..isn't fair... That isn't far, damn it!"
He smashed his fist again into the concrete, pulling up to point an accusing finger at Pitou.
"Why are you helping her, after everything you did to Kaito?!"
By his voice alone, she could tell he was crying, and it made her heart ache. She placed a hand over the beating organ, just as Killua yelled out.
"Why?!"
"Gon!"
"Why?!"
With an amazing roar, his aura burst all over, shocking the room. It was so intense it punctured the ground, something that made (Name) take a step back. He had to stop this.
"Gon!"
He will stop this.
"Gon, calm down!"
She made a motion to move forward, only for Killua to hold out his arm to keep her at bay. It stopped then, the green-clad boy falling to his knees. (Name) wanted to talk to him, but had no idea what to say. Killua lowered his arm.
"To hell with that."
He spoken finally after a silence, bringing himself to his feet. It was then you knew you had to do something, and Killua realized as well. Gon positioned his swollen fist into a familiar posing, an orange shroud forming instantaneously. A wicked aura seeped within, and (Name) shot forward right as words rushed out both boys mouths.
"First comes-"
"Gon!"
(Name) called out first, as her grip rested on the tanned boy's arm, attempting to tug it away. It was a bold move, but she didn't dare flinch away. She held a hard gaze, despite Gon not looking at her. Killua spoke then, once again being the voice of reason.
"Gon, if you kill Pitou now, we'll never get Kaito back!"
He didn't say anything in reply, and remained in his pose. Killua watched on with tension, and (Name) did the same. She gave the boy's arm a light squeeze, murmuring words only the two could hear.
"You..don't want that, right? Gon, don't ruin your only chance."
And after what felt like an eternity, he released his Hatsu. He relaxed his pose, but she still felt the hardening of his muscles.
"(Name).."
He spoke your name suddenly, causing you to look up at him, as you were the shortest out of your little trio. Without warning, he forcibly took her fingers off and away from his, turning his blank gaze on her. And (Name) felt something stir inside. It wasn't a good feeling.
"Keep your hands off me."
Those words seemed to shock her, as Gon let her hand go. He sat down in his pose from before, eyes remaining on Pitou. (Name) backed away slowly, feeling her eyes water.
'Don't break in front of the enemy. Don't break in front of the enemy.'
Constantly, she told herself. Killua sent a gaze her way, but she didn't look at him. She couldn't.
"..Yeah, Gon. I got it."
"(Name)-"
Killua spoke, to which she quickly stopped him with a raising of the hand.
"I'm sure it's just his nerves."
What if he meant he was too afraid of her touching him, in fear of harming her? She held onto the false hope. Killua didn't say anything after that, looking from Gon and back to you. You remained rooted in place, staring at your toes.
"Go on without me, Killua. I..want to stay with Gon."
He didn't say anything else, as he just left.
✿
It felt like hours waiting for Pitou to be done. But (Name) was determined to sit through it, the silence, watching Gon's back. She moved away from his side awhile ago to behind him within a corner in the room, and didn't look away. She was sure she hadn't blinked.
Gon was definitely going through something, she was sure of it. And she didn't want him to suffer alone. Despite every negative thing she felt that day, she would continue to reach out and bring him to his senses. She didn't know why she would, but this small break gave her time to think about it.
Why did she want to comfort him?
Why did she want to stand by his side always?
Why did she want to laugh with him?
Why did she want to see him happy?
Why did she want to hold his hand?
Because they were friends? She didn't believe that, and her stomach became jittery. Maybe it's because-
Apparently lost in thought, she barely heard Pitou's sudden screech.
"Pouf, please!"
It caught her attention, and (Name) silently stood at ready. Another Chimera had entered the fray, and he didn't seem to notice her yet.
"Am I interrupting something?"
He said coyly, which made you sick.
"Don't move."
Gon spoken then, halting the ant in his tracks. Gon hadn't turned in his direction when he spoke, keeping his attention on Pitou.
"You can use your wing scales to control others, right? ..Don't take a single step."
The two Ants began speaking, and (Name) silently wished the male, 'Pouf' was his name, to listen to Pitou.
"...I won't move."
He said after a time, which released some of your nerves.
"And I won't harm him, Pitou."
Pitou seemed to accept his answer, as it seemed more relaxed then before. However, something about his words seem to stump you. Though he didn't move, you did notice Pitou's new tension. It's eyes looked towards Gon quickly, who did not move. Pouf smirked.
"However, there appears to be a loophole in your demands, I'm afraid."
Gon stood to his feet immediately, whereas Pitou remained still. Pitou's head was facing the ground, whereas Gon was facing your way. Wait, your way?
"(Name) is our trump card, after all."
"(NAAMME)!!"
Gon screamed her name, but knew it was too late. He was too late. No matter what he would do to them, he knew he'd been too late.
Pouf had committed his intended crime that day.
And that crime was your inevitable demise.
"Once she does her job, we are ensured for victory."
She finally got what he meant.
No number of Ants could compare to the amount of rage Gon felt that day.

Hey, It's Me!
Okay, now before there's any panic, no. This isn't the last chapter. I plan for this story to end at Chapter 10 or 12. So relish in joy!
...Also, I hate Cliffhangers, but I had to do this so sorry. And don't think my other story is safe from a Cliffhanger either.
Bakugou you're next-
Anyway, despite my story ending at Chapter 10-12 or even before, I do plan on writing in the movies, though as filler. I just would like to know if anyone would want that? If not, then I'll just finish the series and end it that way.
And, there is an explanation for Netero's plans here. It just seemed in-character to me, as he did seem to do something kind of similar with Gon, by showing where Pitou is? Or something like that? It's hard to put in words, but Netero isn't always a good guy, as he made that apparent within this arc, and his final words to Meruem. Though, me making his words important here kind of ruined it for me, but it needed to be done!
Hope to see Reader-chan and Gon in the next Chapter! See ya!
