"We always have dinner at my cousin's house, apparently," Lewis explained, adjusting his seatbelt a little. "Take a left up here."
Logan was driving, Lewis giving out directions. Like always, the younger man didn't have his own seatbelt fastened, but Lewis had given up on trying to convince him.
"You hardly ever talk about your family, other than your mom and brother. Why the sudden interest in holiday events?" Logan asked, reaching over to rest his hand on the smaller man's thigh.
Lewis rested his hand atop Logan's, smiling fondly as he shrugged. "I dunno. I wanna show off a lil bit, I guess. Maybe make Cousin Steven stop claiming that we're related to Hank Williams. Plus maybe make another cousin jealous that not all of us have to settle for a redneck who's missing most of his teeth."
"What the fuck."
"Country singer. And so was his son. And some people claim that Kid Rock is in that family tree too."
"Not what I was talking about, but cool. You country folk are wild."
Lewis rolled his eyes, but the smile never left his face.

Once the two of them had gotten settled into the guest room in the basement, Logan sprawled out on the bed, clearly intending on taking a nap. Lewis gave him a soft kiss, then started walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Logan all but whined, throwing an arm over his eyes.
"I'm gonna go see if Grandma needs some help," he replied, tucking his hands in his pockets.
The younger man groaned. "You're gonna make me sleep down here in an unfamiliar place all by myself?"
"At least let me go tell Grandma and Grandpa that we're gonna take a nap. I'll be right back down."
"Fine."
"Watch out for the Mothman!" Lewis said cheerfully, closing the door behind him.
"What the hell?"
—
It wasn't long before Lewis returned downstairs, a couple cookies in his hand because his grandma thinks 'he's way too skinny' and 'needs to put some meat on his bones'. Oh well. He'd forgotten how much he loved his grandma's baking skills.
He handed off one of the treats to a barely-awake Logan, who seemed kind of confused at first. The poor guy was just tired from traveling, honestly.
After he was done with his snack, Lewis laid down practically on top of the younger man, resting his head on his chest. "Thank you for coming with me," he murmured, "I really appreciate it."
"Don't worry about it. I'm just being a good boyfriend," Logan replied, wrapping his arms around Lewis. "Now shut up and either go to sleep or let me kiss you."
————
The next day, when the two of them came upstairs for breakfast, Lewis had a few 'mysterious' bruises on his neck and what seemed to be an almost permanent blush on his cheeks. Luckily, neither grandparent pushed it too much, but Logan was cracking up over it.
Unfortunately, the grandparents decided to have a talk with Logan while Lewis took a shower.
"So... you're both famous? How's that work? Do you get bombarded when you go out together?" Grandma asked. Logan had quickly learned that she refused to answer unless you called her that. It was odd, but kind of sweet?
"We tend to stay in, or be careful with how much affection we show in public," Logan answered, scratching lightly at his neck. "Paparazzi and the fans are constantly bugging us, but it's partially because we're in the same band and they think that every time we go do something it's pertaining to new music."
"How's the music going?" Lewis' grandpa, Henry, asked from his recliner, eyes still focused on the television. "My side of the family's full of wannabe singers, and hers is mostly florists and farmers."
"Lewis has enough lyrics brainstormed to last us for years," Logan told them, a fond smile on his lips. "We've almost got the new album completely recorded. Lewis sings on it, like his own verses. I'm proud of him."
"We're proud of him too," Grandma assured him. "We weren't excited when his mama took him across the country, but it's all worth it since he met someone like you."
————
"Okay. Only like one or two people here are gonna recognize you," Lewis told Logan as they walked up to the house, carrying some of the food that Grandma had made. "Let me know which ones, and I'll bribe them to keep their damn mouths shut."
Logan paused and stared at him for a long moment before grinning. "Your accent is back."
"Motherfu-"
"Lewis Ryan! Watch your mouth, there are kids here!" Grandma chided, earning a laugh from both her husband and Logan.
————
All in all, the family wasn't too bad for being mostly racist Republican rednecks. They just seemed happy to be around each other, and they were surprisingly accepting of Logan as well.
One of the teenagers, a boy named Thomas, had to do a double take when he saw literally half of his favorite band at Thanksgiving dinner. He didn't waste any time in introducing himself.
Lewis looked a bit uneasy, so Logan draped an arm over the smaller man's shoulder. He also handled most of the talking, explaining to the kid that Lewis was related to him and they were just out here taking advantage of being on break from touring and recording.
Thomas' eyes went wide, then he lowered his voice and asked, "Are you two together?"
Lewis didn't say a word, he just entertained their fingers and smiled up at Logan. "He's my best friend, little dude."
"That's not what I meant."
Logan grinned, bending down enough to quickly peck the smaller man's lips. "Don't tell anyone, kid, and I'll hook you up with tickets to a show on the next tour."
"Deal," Thomas told them instantly, a slight smirk on his lips as he added, "Tell Spencer that I love him."
————
The visit ended up being a lot of fun.
Logan got to spend some quality time with the hunting dogs that the cousins had. The only reason he left them alone was because Lewis threatened to leave him behind (jokingly, of course).
One of the most awkward occurrences had been when everyone was sitting down for dinner, and Grandma announced that her youngest grandson was there. Some of the cousins mistook Logan for Lewis, somehow.
