[ today's father's day so uh,,, here's this ]
"It's Father's Day, so Bailey made you a card thing to draw a picture on for your dads," Chase told Rosaline, setting the paper and markers down in front of the girl.
Rosie didn't hesitate to start coloring, but soon enough, she paused and looked up at the woman. "Auntie Chase, are you going to spend Father's Day with your dad?"
"Nope. I don't know where he is. I haven't seen him since I was a little girl." For once, she answered honestly, hands wrapped around her coffee mug as she sat down at the table.
"Why?"
"Because he decided he didn't love my mom anymore, and he didn't love me either."
The young girl waited a few moments, then asked, "What about Bailey?"
Chase sighed. "He hasn't talked to his dad since he was a teenager. His dad didn't like the fact that Bailey likes boys."
"Your dads aren't very nice."
"I know, kiddo. You really hit the jackpot on dads. Ronnie's the best dad I've ever seen."

The lake is peaceful.
It's sunny, the slight breeze making it comfortable. Bees buzz by, dragonflies swoop over the barely moving water.
Lewis lays on his stomach underneath one of the trees, idly twisting clover between his fingertips as he watches Logan. The younger man had to step away to take a phonecall, and not once does Lewis' gaze leave him.
By the time Logan gets back, Lewis pushes himself into a sitting position, a chain of clover held delicately in his hands, another resting on the blanket beside him. Logan gives him a fond smile as he sits back down.
Shyly, Lewis gets to his knees to put the clover crown on top of his boyfriend's head, then follows by putting on his own. And the only appropriate reaction is obviously to take selfies together.
Lewis' favorite of the photos is just one where they're smiling at each other. The affection is clear on both of their faces, and it's just sweet to see.

"Hey, Lew, what's with the scarf? It's like, eighty degrees out today," one of the crew guys asked curiously, resting his hand on the guitarist's shoulder.
Lewis froze, tightening the fabric around his throat. "It's... um... just a fashion thing I'm trying out. That's all."
Later, he called his sister in law for a little bit of advice.
"Hey, Chloe? What do you do when you've got a big hand-shaped bruise and everyone keeps trying to take your scarf off?"
"What the fuck? Are you saying that he hit you? I'm gonna-"
"Chill out. You know how I bruise really easily, and like... I asked him to try- y'know- choking me, and when he let go I was like 'holy shit I can't breathe. Do it again'."
"You're so fucking dumb."
[ dumb concept sprouting from me giving my little cousin a rlly tight hug and she goes "ur choking me" and as soon as i let go she grabs my arms and says "again!!!!". ]
