She knew the car was going to stop.

It was an easy thing to determine: a Saturday night, outskirts of the city, and with the way she was dressed, most guys would stop.

She had been standing there for only about twenty minutes, a thin hoodie thrown over her arm and a tiny backpack on her shoulders. Her dress was tight, and for god's sake, she even had damn inserts in her bra.

The guy in this car was hot, in a kind of unconventional way. She was definitely going to have fun with this one.

The car came to a stop just outside of town, a wooded area shielding them from view. The guy slid his seat back and gave her a look.

Years of listening to her mother's 'advice' were to blame (or maybe thank) for the way she almost expertly climbed into his lap, cupping his face and kissing him.

So what if this made her feel gross and disgusting afterwards? She'd never have to see him around again after this.

She reached blindly for her bag, finding her knife in the pocket. But right as she went to open it, the man had one of his own pressed against her throat.

"You're the idiot who's been leaving bodies around," he groaned, pressing the knife a little bit further. It wasn't enough to draw blood yet, but it would be soon. "Do you know how much harder it is to do my job because of you?"

She should've been panicking by then, but for some reason, the reasonable part of her brain was short-circuiting. "I'm just trying to get enough money so my friend and I don't get kicked out of our apartment."

"That's not an excuse for being stupid. Drop the knife."

She did as she was told, fear accelerating her heartbeat. "Please don't kill me— I'll do anything you want me to-"

"You could start by getting off of me."

"Bailey, baby, I've had a shitty day and I just wanna go to bed," Chase sighed, returning the tight embrace her roommate wrapped her up in as soon as she got home.

"You didn't get hurt, did you?" Bailey asked, studying her appearance.

She shook her head. "Only my ego, buddy. I gotta wake up early anyways, so I really need to go to bed."

"Can I sleep with you?" He asked timidly, letting go of her and shoving his hands in his pockets. "I just wanna be sure that you're okay."

"Yeah, B. Go get ready for bed."

She wasn't expecting a phone call to wake her up, but it happened.

"What do you want?" She mumbled into the device as she sat up. Bailey was still asleep next to her, which was a relief.

"Meet me outside in five minutes."

"Who the fuck are you?"

"It's Ezra. The guy who let you go yesterday. You said you'd do anything I wanted you to, so... welcome to the team."
