The gentle drizzle of the rain hit the window with gentle paps, the drizzle slowly becoming more heavy until it became downpour so heavy that street vendors had to quickly find shelter for their products.

The streets emptied out, other than the folks who were rushing to work in the rain with their umbrellas in hand to avoid the heavy rain.

But among them all, was you and the General of the Loufu, still asleep in bed. His breathing was soft and slow, and your own subconsciously matched his..it was a peaceful, rainy day.

Usually, the two of you didn't sleep in this late, as you both had busy lives. You worked with the Shackling Prison, and he, of course, was always busy making sure the Loufu was as safe as can be.

This was a rare, but welcome occurrence.

The sudden rumble of thunder made you jump in your sleep before you squeezed your eyes closed tightly before slowly opening them and grumbling softly. The best thing to wake up to was Jing in a clumsily buttoned up dress shirt.

His messy hair was sprawled about, framing his face perfectly as per usual while he continued to sleep. His mouth opened just slightly, practically inviting you to lean close and give him a quick kiss, which you did.

You pecked his lips before slowly snaking your way out of his hold and sitting up to stretch before looking at the window as you heard the gentle rumble of thunder.

You got up to go look outside, shivering a little when your feet touched the cold floor before brushing it off and walking over to the window, leaning onto it and looking outside. The place you and Jing lived was cut off from most others nearby, surrounded by a wall, like a small estate.

Jing Yuan just liked his privacy as a public figure, and you couldn't fault him for it.. Besides, he liked having room for a nice garden. Speaking of the garden, you could see the rain already watering his plants and flowers for him.

You smiled to yourself before yawning and sighing, rubbing your eyes before you gasped seeing Jing Yuan's reflection in the window all of a sudden. He snuck up behind you and smiled all cheerfully and innocent before yawning.

"You scared me!" You huffed and crossed your arms before sighing and looking out the window again, leaning back against him as he wrapped his arms around you and rested his chin on your shoulder.

He hummed softly and kissed your cheek with a chuckle, "My condolences.." He mused playfully as he squeezed you. You rolled your eyes, "Are you going to run through the rain to get to the Seat Of Divine Foresight?".

He looked outside and huffed, "I'd only arrive soaked and cold.." he grumbled and shook his head, "Perhaps now is a good time to take a long awaited day off. " He smiled and leaned back.

"Think Lady Fu will like that?" You chuckled and looked at him as he stepped before and rolled his shoulder, "I'm sure she'll be more than pleased." He stated jokingly before patting your head.

"Come, let's make some breakfast." He smiled and turned around and left the bedroom. You looked out the window one last time before following him.

"What's for breakfast then?" You inquired once you were right behind him, "Whatever is in the fridge." He chuckled and stepped down the stairs, stopping at the bottom and waiting for you as you followed him down.

"Really? Surely we have eggs.." You huffed and grabbed his hand once you were next to him, He looked at you with a pleased smile as you let go of his hand to open the fridge.

When you pulled out eggs, he got a pan out and got everything ready before he began making eggs while you came up with the idea to make some waffles and fruit. You stole a few of the eggs and got everything mixed in a bowl and started up the waffle machine before walking back toward Jing Yuan.

"Yummy" You chuckled and kissed his cheek, a smile popping onto his face after you had done so. "They're just eggs." He chuckled and kissed the top of your head as he set the eggs onto a plate, and you jumped at the sound of the waffle maker beeping.

You hurried over and got the waffle out, setting it on a plate before filling the waffle maker again. "Yeah, well, i bet they'll taste delicious." You retorted playfully, looking back at him with a cheeky smile before seeing him pause as he reached for his phone, buzzing with likely Lady Fu's name on the screen.

He held back a sigh and walked over to kiss your cheek with a small smile, "Handle the eggs for me for a minute, love." He whispered softly before answering the phone and walking off.

You watched him go briefly before walking over to the stove and making sure the eggs didn't burn while you waited for him to return or for the waffle maker to beep again. You heard the thunder clap loudly outside, listening to the rain outside since Jing Yuan didn't talk very long while you slipped the last of the eggs onto your plate and then retrieved your waffle.

Jing returned soon after, letting out a soft sigh as he snuck up behind you yet again and snaked his arms around your waist. "Any news? Do you have to go?" You leaned back and looked up at him, to which he responded with a yawn, "I'm staying, no worries.".

He smiled down at you before grabbing his plate, kissing your cheek, and heading off to sit down. You grabbed your plate, put whatever you like on your eggs and waffle before following him over to the couch.

You sat down right next to him, snuggling close to steal some of his warmth while you started eating. He smiled at you before beginning to eat his breakfast.

The silence was peaceful, only filled by the soft sound of heavy rain and the rumble of thunder. You could almost feel yourself nodding off as you ate, but it might've just been Jing's comfortable warmth.

"Waffles were delicious." He hummed and set his empty plate on the table before leaning onto you with a pleased smile. "It was a simple recipe..nothing special." You shrugged and kissed his cheek.

You set your plate on his before taking them to the sink, but before you could even rinse them off, you were suddenly swept off your feet with a sudden yelp.

"Jing Yuan!" You huffed and crossed your arms as you looked up at hum. He smiled at you, obviously pleased with himself. "Dishes can be done later. Why not head back to bed?"

You sighed but didn't have the heart to argue..nor the energy, since filling yourself up on breakfast just made you sleepier. "Fine, you win. Take me away." You chuckled and kissed his cheek.

At your request, he took you right back upstairs and made sure to take wide turns around corners to make sure he didn't accidentally smack your head into a wall corner.

Then, as he stepped into your room, he gently set you down on your side before laying down on top of you. "Babe! You're crushing me!" You huffed and tried to push him off.

He snickered and moved off but clung close with a soft smile, "Then would you rather lay on me?" He offered and moved onto his back..automatically taking your silence as a yes.

"Hmph.." You grumbled softly before moving on top of him, laying your head in his chest and listening to his heartbeat. Even after his long life, his heart still sped up a little when you got so close.

He closed his eyes and held you tight. Before dozing off faster, then you could say i love you, but you said it regardless.

"I love you.." You mumbled, his response being soft snores that eventually aided in putting you to sleep..if the rain wasn't enough.
