Here's ur one-shot and ignore that cursed gif there ;w;
"So, how's the situation?" Aoba's question hung in the air. Iruka took a deep breath and exhaled before answering. He looked slightly panicked. Aoba knew there was something fishy when you walked out of Iruka's office and when he tried starting a conversation, it ended faster than the fourth Hokage's flying Raijin.
"A friend of mine, a new teacher, asked for (Y/n)'s hand in marriage. On her behalf, I told him that she already has someone else in mind, but he insisted he had a chance."
Marry her? As in pledge his eternal love for her? Become her spouse and be by her side in sickness and in health until death part them? That kind of marriage?
"Who is it? Tell me, Iruka!" all of a sudden Aoba was shaking Iruka badly similar to how a child begged for their parents to get them candies in a grocery store.
"A few days back, he spotted (Y/n) playing with the kids and he felt 'love at first sight'. At least that's what he told me when we ate ramen together yesterday. Akihito is a man who's willing to do anything to get what he wants. So I suggested her go home early for today."
"I bet he's doing it from his daddy's money or something." uttered your lover, venom lacing his tone.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing. This Akihito guy sounds like a powerful man with lots of money. I'll talk to her about this."
Aoba strode away from the academy and found you in Ichiraku ramen. The smell of ramen broth immediately enveloped him. He sat down on a wooden stool next to you, it creaked beneath his weight. That was when you noticed his presence.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked the goggle-wearing shinobi. In response, you hummed. To him, you were either pretending or did not want to talk about the situation at hand. "Iruka told me what happened. One of his friends wanted to propose to you."
After mentally cursing the academy teacher, you sighed as if you just lost all of your faith in living. "I didn't want to worry you..."
"Nonsense," he paid for your ramen before taking your hand and leading you away from Ichiraku ramen. Getting others involved is the last thing he wanted.
"Aoba-"
Your heart skipped a beat when he gave you a quick kiss as he hid both of you behind a tree. When he pulled away, he saw how the gentle breeze danced with the loose ends of their hair. He declared. "I love you."
"Where did that come from all of a sudden?"
He hung his head low and muttered. "I don't know, I thought I should just say it. Come on, let's go home."
The next day he went out shopping. His eyes scanned at every jewelry the shop had to offer, a specific jewelry one can wear around their ring. One had a diamond that would cost fortunes, one had floral vines twirling the band that reminded him of flowers, one was just a simple golden band. There were so many variants he just couldn't decide which one to get for his beloved. Plus, there's already a chance that Akihito has already bought a ring more expensive than what he's getting. They say money could never buy one happiness, so Aoba's hanging onto that little hope.
(Y/n) decided to stay inside today at home, Aoba did not want them to stumble into Akihito. He chose the singular golden band. The shopkeeper asked if he wanted to choose something else, but he was dead set on that golden ring. Just when he stepped out of the jewelry store, something caught his eye:
A figure in a poofy shiromuku (a wedding kimono) was being carried through the roof by men in black yukatas. Aoba looked closer at the figure and when he saw their face, he knew it was you.
He rushed to store the ring inside a small box as he shoved it in his pocket vest. He was grateful he hasn't lost sight of them, he could also ask bypassers if they had seen someone in a wedding kimono hot potato'd around by some sketchy men in yukatas. Leaping onto the roof of the jewelry store, he finally gave a chase.
With a mind unable to calm down, he ran and ran. By this point he wasn't breathing, he was just greedily gasping for air as his lungs begged for him to stop or take a break. The men he was chasing were slowly getting further and further away. Until he finally lost sight of them completely.
He asked a nearby shopper for the men in black yukatas, they pointed at a nearby shrine. Like lightning, Aoba bolted for it. He stopped just by the entrance of the sacred building, anxiety finally seeping into him. If this is the wrong place he might just ruin an important ceremony or a ritual. Those doubts faded when he heard screaming inside.
He dashed through the entrance and spotted you. Being held by the waist by a man in yukata, you fought like a cornered ally cat, claws out and everything. In front of you, stood a man who wore a hakama, but with a rose brooch. Perhaps that brooch indicates that he's the groom, considering that others did not wear the same brooch as he did.
"Just give me your hand-" you slapped the small cup of sake across the room as you kept writhing in the other man's hold.
"LET ME GO YOU, CUNT!"
"(Y/n)!"
"Aoba!" he ran to you and tore the man off you. Aoba held you in his arms, even under his touch you trembled, he could never imagine how you felt being held by another man, one that you barely knew. The man with the rose brooch stared in disbelief, which soon turned into irritation.
"And you are?"
Aoba paused before answering, "I'm (Y/n)'s fiance."
"A fiance? A man like you?" How could you possibly be a lover to someone like her?" Akihito mocked Aoba, his head throwing back in laughter. "You have quite the nerve to interrupt a sacred moment of our vows of love?"
Anger was present in his voice. You gripped your kimono, attempting to make yourself smaller and smaller until you disappear from the world.
"Vows of love? Judging on how my lover just writhed and screamed while being held back by that man that's enough to say that she does not want to be here." he grabbed onto your hand, "Forcing your feelings on someone else is not love nor passion. I know that because I love her more than anyone. That's why you are returning my bride."
Aoba tugged your hand as both of you began walking out of the shrine. You broke into running when Akihito screamed at his men to chase after you. Your lover knew that you would have trouble running in the wedding kimono, so what did he do?
"Hang on tight," he whispered before his hand traveled to your waist and lifted you up. The long sleeves fluttered like wings as he ran out of the shrine. When the two of you arrived at the main street, all eyes were trained on you.
"You know, they might think you're kidnapping me..." he chuckled, looking down at you.
"Technically, you're my bride in the first place. So does that count?" the answer made her laugh, which was good. Especially after getting bride-napped by a stranger. We stopped by the academy and entered Iruka's office. Aoba didn't sense Akihito anymore, so he might have given up on chasing after them. Your beloved sat you down on a couch inside the office. "I think we've lost him."
The orange rays of the sun setting poured into the room through the enormous windows. When they hit you, your white kimono made you glow in a soft golden shimmer.
"Are you alright, Aoba?" you noticed he was staring, while his lungs sucked in air in big breaths.
"Yes, I'm fine. Did he do anything to you?"
You shook your head, "When you left, he kidnapped me and took me dress shopping. After that, his maids dressed me."
Aoba let out a sigh of relief, tension finally left his body as he slumped to the ground.
"Hey, remember what I said in the shrine?" Aoba popped a question that reminded you of what he spoke about earlier. He patted a pocket on his vest and took out a small black box.
"Oh yeah, I knew you were in a rush, but I understand-"
"No, I wasn't lying when I said you were my fiance," with a click the box opened to reveal a singular golden band that stood alone in the padded box. "Oh, look I'm already kneeling. So, will you marry me?"
