Three days later

Sanzu's POV

I sat beside Y/n's bedside and saw her still sleeping. Her eyes are all bandaged up and the sound of the heart monitor can be heard.

Her room is being guarded by many people in suits and even Taiju is guarding the door.

I held her hand and gently caressed it as I leaned closer.

"Why? This is the second time I see you in this state but this time it's my fault." I said as the guilt I've been trying to escape resurfaced again.

"If only I didn't let my guard down, if only I reacted quickly then- then this wouldn't have happened." I said and my eyes began to water.

"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." I muttered over and over again.

When they chased after Rika, Draken and Izana were busy handling the others. I left and went to get my bike and followed after them. It took a while before I finally found them.

Mikey and Y/n were on the ground, both bleeding and unconscious but they were holding each other close.

Rika was limping and walking towards them with the katana that Y/n was holding earlier. With a piece of metal pipe I found near, I ran and hit her with the full intent of killing her.

She blocked and I pushed her backward. She stumbled a few times before trying to attack again.

"So she even taught you how to use a sword. She raised and trained you as her dog right from the start." She said as she attacked again. I countered her moves and I was pushing her back.

"You've made a mistake." I said and I kicked her back. She rolled a few times before trying to stand up.

"First that wretched woman kept kicking and stepping on me. Then that shorty also did the same and now you again." She said in anger as her nose bled.

"It's because you belong six feet under the ground. Your purpose is to be stepped on." I said and pointed at the ground. Her face twisted in anger and she began to run toward me with the sword.

However, before she can even go halfway, a truck was running a full speed and ran over her.

She was thrown a few meters and the truck was rammed to the other side of the road.

I felt Y/n's hand twitch and I immediately wiped my tears and stood up.

"Haru?" She softly said and tried to get up. I helped her to sit up.

"You should be laying down, Y/n." I said but she only smiled.

"I'm fine now...well except for my eyes." She said and chuckled. 

"Y/n.."

"I know."

"..."

"I'm blind now. I knew that the moment my eyes hurt that bad but I'm fine." She said and squeezed my hand.

"Now tell me, why are you crying? Hmm?" She asked softly.

"I wasn't," I said

"Stop lying, you know that I can sense a lie right?" She asked and I stayed silent for a while as I looked away.

A moment later her hand went to my arm up to my face. Her thumb gently caressed my cheek.

"Don't blame yourself Haru." She said and smiled. Tears began to fall again as I held her hand and leaned.

"But because of me, you lost your sight. You can't see anything now." I said.

"It's true that it's a shame I won't be able to see you dress up again." She said and chuckled.

"But this is not because of you. No one will blame you so you shouldn't. This is because I got careless that I didn't see through her trick." She said and cupped my face with both of her hands and she made our forehead's touch.

"I should be thanking you for helping me get this far." She said and hugged me.

I froze in place before hesitantly hugging her back. I'm not complaining but I respect her and Mikey's relationship. We shared a few moments before she pulled out from the hug.

"Y/n.." I called.

"Hmm?"

"Do you remember the favor that I have from you because you made me wear a costume last Halloween?" I asked

"Yeah, do you have a favor?" She asked.

"Yes"

"What is it? I'll see what I can do....oh wait, I'm blind." She said and chuckled.

"It's more of a request than a favor." I said

"And that is?"

"Will you allow me to be by your side?" I asked 

"Are you proposing to me Haru?" She asked.

"I will but I know that I'm not the one in your heart even though you are in mine. I fell for you but you're already taken by someone I can never match to." I said and held her hand.

"Haru.."

"That's why my request is that you allow me to be by your side and let me serve you until I die. I accepted that we will just be friends and It's okay and to be helpful to you is what I wish." I said and looked at her. 

"Haru, I acknowledge your feelings but are you really sure about staying by my side?" She asked.

"I've already thought about it and I am sure. I'm loyal to Mikey and I know you two are already going to end up together and I want to serve you. So, please.." I said, she smiled and pat my head gently.

"How can I say no to my dearest friend when he said please for the first time? If that is what you want then I'll gladly accept your offer." She said.

"Then I'll be in your care, my lady." I said and kissed her hand.

I know that I won't be able to find anyone else besides you so I'll just stay close and continue to love you until the day I die. I may not be the one to receive your love but since it's Mikey, I have nothing to complain about.

I am just the knight that fell in love with the king's queen. 

You were the right person at the wrong time.
