"suna, are you coming with us?"
he raised his head in response to osamu's words.
"where?"
suna squinted his brows, trying to recall if he had anything planned with the team for that day.
"we're just going out to eat."
he sighed in relief. he was already worried that he had forgotten about something they had discussed earlier, so he made two different plans for one day. he wasn't the type to do things like this, but everyone makes mistakes now and then. it's a good thing he didn't this time, because he wouldn't want to disappoint his friends or yn. it would be difficult not to pick her when she was waiting for him beside the school gate with a big smile.
"i can't today, i already have plans. see you tomorrow."
before they parted ways, they snickered around and atsumu patted his back. suna could feel them tease him about going out with yn the next day, especially atsumu, who isn't letting him live until he knows every single detail of their meeting. suna began to suspect that atsumu was writing a journal about his friendship with yn.
"oh, they're going somewhere? you should go with them!"
"why should i? our plans were first."
"oh... that's really nice."
"it's normal, ln, and you deserve it."
"stop."
she mumbled, lightly pushing him with her shoulder.
"you're getting shy so easily."
suna laughed lightly at her and gently patted her head before letting her walk first into the convenience store.
"hey! i am not getting shy at all! you're simply too sweet for me! oh, i would love grape jellies and strawberry pocky..."
"we can get it. besides, maybe you're just not confident enough? that is something we should work on."
"yah! you're always talking about working on my confidence, maybe we should work on you!"
suna shook his head softly and paid for the snacks they chose. he had invited yn over, so it was only fair that he paid for their sweets, and besides, he just wanted to be a real gentleman.
"what do you think we should work on in me? hm?"
"we should, you know... you can't overshare! that is something we should work on!"
yn huffed and crossed her arms across her chest, as if it would make her words sound more serious. she knew it was stupid, but she couldn't think of anything else that suna could 'lack in'. yeah, the only thing he lacked in yn's opinion was flaws, and she couldn't think of any.
"i believe you overshare for both of us. besides, you don't have to wait for me to talk if you want to know anything about me."
"i don't want to be annoying."
"don't even think like that around me."
He scoffed and searched his bag for keys to his house.
"i think we are alone, my sister has dance lessons today."
"oh, that's cool. i mean... her having dance lessons."
why was it suddenly so awkward? they spent a lot of time alone, almost every day, when they were walking home together.
"let's go to my room."
suna said after they took off their shoes. at least he didn't show that he was kind of stressed, unlike him, she couldn't hide her emotions.
when she walked into his room, the first thing she did was look around without even putting her bag down. she was too curious about the photos suna had there, and that was the main reason why she visited him. not that she wouldn't agree if he didn't have it.
"here."
he quietly laughed at what she did. he instantly shut the doors to his room, revealing the fact that the entire doors were covered in photos.
"oh my! there are so many!"
yn gasped audibly, amazed by the amount of memories glued to the doors. she completely ignored suna, who was standing next to her and had opened a pack of jellies she desperately wanted.
"why aren't you on most of them?"
she was disappointed because she expected to see embarrassing photos of suna as a child or at least embarrassing photos of him and his friends now, but all she saw were photos of suna's friends, some of his family, his cousin and grandparents, as she guessed, and a few of pretty landscapes. there were very few photos of him.
"i'm just the one who takes photos, not the one who gets them. but it means that i can capture moments that no one else sees and i like it."
"that's really cute."
"oh, shut up."
yn gasped loudly and turned to face suna. She quickly raised her hand and hit suna's arm, literally shocked, but not by what he said, but by the conclusion she reached as a result of what he said.
"you are the one who can't take the compliment!"
she hit him again, this time laughing at him.
"shut up."
suna turned away and sat on his bed, trying to avoid this conversation. yeah, he couldn't take silly little compliments, especially from yn, but he was just a human, he could have his little secrets, and he didn't have to have yn talking about it, it was embarrassing!
"oh, no, no, we must work on that!"
he just rolled his eyes, irritated that his own words were now being used against him.
"leave me alone."
yn laughed, pleased that she could finally tease suna about something new. she sat beside him and took a few jellies from the pack he was holding.
"no, wait a second, i'm going to think of another compliment, and you're going to take it!"
"i'm not going to take it, so you better stop."
he knew his face would eventually give up and show signs of embarrassment, and blushing in front of yn for a few cute compliments would cause him to die of cringe. he wasn't the strongest soldier. he wasn't strong at all, and his thoughts about his feelings became louder with every second he spent with yn.
"give me a second, uhh..."
"i know thinking can be hard..."
"shut up, i just don't want it to be as simple as 'you're pretty.'"
"you think i am?"
it's a good thing he had both hands occupied, because he thought he was going to smash his hand against his lips after what he said.
yn looked at him for a moment and simply smiled. of course she would do that, she was always smiling at everyone, it was completely normal to her. he should be prepared for that and not act as if it was the first time he had seen such a bright and happy smile in his life.
"yes."
he was surprised by how fast his heart could beat. and it was only because a girl he might have liked said he was pretty.
"oh, i have one."
she said this during a brief moment of silence between the two of them. suna hadn't even finished calming down after his first compliment when he was forced to accept another. he should just admit defeat.
"i'm glad i met you."
yn stated confidently, but after a second of looking into suna's eyes, her arms slumped and she lowered her head. it sounded embarrassing, and it wasn't even a real compliment! she was not only bad at accepting compliments and being confident, but she was also bad at giving them.
"no, wait, it was bad..."
"it was good."
she looked at suna, who gave her a light smile. yn admired his smile because it was always genuine. she was oftenly questioning people's intentions in the back of her mind because of small details like fake smiles or mean looks, but she didn't do it with him because there was something so genuine in his every expression. yn really liked spending time with suna.
"you think?"
"yes i do."
they just sat beside each other, smiling and looking at each other, trying to make the most of that sweet moment between them. everything went silent all of a sudden.
"i'm glad i met you too."
suna's words were barely audible, as if he was afraid of ruining the moment.
yn, on the other hand, wasn't afraid of something like that, because she began punching him out of embarrassment.
"don't say things like that!"
