suna assumed that he would feel out of place in yn's home. he expected it and was okay with it, he just focused on how nice of a gesture it was from yn's side. he was, however, surprised.
yn's mother was an exact copy of yn, or was it the other way around? in any case, yn and her mother were almost identical, bubbly and talkative. because he was used to spending time with yn, he found it very easy to converse with older women. yn's mother was also a very warm and caring person, she asked a lot of questions, and normally he would be tired after three, but the fact that she was so interested in everything he said made him want to talk even more. it wasn't a new feeling for him, he'd felt it around yn before.
another thing that surprised him, aside from feeling so comfortable in a new place, was how yn's brothers behaved like little angels around their mom. they couldn't fool him, though, because he saw how they talked to each other and yn when their mom wasn't present.
"let's go to my room."
suna looked at yn and then at her mom, as if he was looking for permission, but the older woman appeared unbothered about the boy in her daughter's room. he didn't do anything she should be concerned about, but he was aware that parents can be strange and sensitive in situations like this, and he didn't want to do anything that would make yn's mom dislike him. he felt good here, and he didn't want to come here just once.
"mhm, okay."
he set down the last dishes he had on the kitchen counter and followed yn upstairs to her room.
"sorry for the mess, i didn't have time this morning to clean it up."
yn quickly began putting her make-up in the vanity drawers.
"it's fine, don't worry about it."
suna placed his schoolbag next to the doors and took a look around her room. he never imagined how it could look, but it looked exactly like yn, colorfull, cute, with a lot of little trinkets and decorations. the room was quite large, but so was the entire house, because there were four children who needed their own space.
"is that you?"
the wall with the large frame of photos caught his attention the most. he pointed to a picture of yn as a baby and someone else.
"yeah! it's me and bokuto."
"i had no idea you'd known each other for so long."
suna knew yn and bokuto were friends, he didn't recognize his name at first, but when she mentioned how he is fukurodani volleyball team capitan, he quickly realized that he knew him, or at least saw him once or twice. he also knew that recently atsumu and bokuto started talking a lot about god knows what, but aside from a lot of random stories that yn told him about their friendship, he didn't know how they met.
"our moms are high school friends, and because we were born only one year apart, they forced us to be friends from the time we could walk. luckily, we liked each other and became best friends. it's nice to have someone who has always been there for you, you know? i mean, after we left tokyo and everything that happened with daishou and me cutting everyone out of my life, our contact was worse, but we are working on it again. i promised bokuto that i would visit him more. i don't think i ever told you this, but i moved here right before going to inarizaki. i was born in tokyo, my parents met there in college, and they both stayed in tokyo after, but we moved here because my mom wanted to be closer to her family again, and she thought it would be the best time to move since i would be changing schools either way. i was furious because i had friends in tokyo and didn't know anyone here, and my father still worked in tokyo, so he had to stay there, now he mostly works from home, but he has to take business trips all over japan..."
yn suddenly stopped talking and turned her head in the direction of suna, just to see how he was looking at her throughout her entire monologue. he quickly shifted his gaze away from the pictures in the frame.
"i talk a lot."
"i like that."
he responded immediately, not giving yn a second to wonder if she should be talking so much around him. he would listen even if she talked for hours.
"oh my god, is that you?"
"stop looking at those dumb photos!"
yn quickly covered the silly photo of her and her brothers as kids dressed as shrek and three blind mice, most likely for some halloween party.
"you look great in green."
suna laughed at her, not even trying to hide how funny this photo was for him.
"it was my dad's idea."
she mumbled in embarrassment. she had completely forgotten what kind of pictures she had in her room, and she hadn't invited anyone to her room in a long time, so she hadn't even considered it.
"it's cute."
he said this after calming down. these words caused yn to roll her eyes and eventually put her hand down.
"seriously, it's really adorable photo."
"iike i'd believe you after you laughed at me..."
"i wouldn't lie to you."
yn gave him a brief glance, trying to ignore how serious his words sounded. even though he was probably just talking about the situation, she never imagined he would lie to her. it was just... so easy to trust him when he was such a thoughtful and caring person.
"i have something similar in my room."
suna said, breaking the silence between them.
"well, now you have to invite me so i can look at them and make fun of you as well!"
"alright, are you free tomorrow?"
"huh?"
"i'm inviting you over."
