Kim uses all pronouns. Doesn't care what you call them, just be nice to them personally and she'll love you. The bar is low people.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Another morning, another slay. This is what Kim would say if she didn't live in the god-forsaking nightmare of a one-bedroom apartment. Yes, you would think that because she goes to a school that allows children to wear what they please, she would wear clothing that suits her age and body. Wrong, he was the man to wear baggy yet appealing clothing.
Being a typical teenager whose childhood was spent watching Phineas & Ferb, Kick Buttowski, Fish Hooks, and many more praise-worthy shows like Barbie; Life in the Dreamhouse, they rode a skateboard to school.
Same routine, wake up, get some Eggos, and eat it on her way to school. That is until one day, the routine was disrupted. Why you ask? Well, a cute dog came running towards Kim, knocking her off the board and down the street crashing into the open fence of a house up ahead. The dog noticed the waffle in her pocket and took a bite. Then a man yelling out a name was heard from down the street. Rushing out wearing a black t-shirt with a watch and leather bracelet on the right arm. He had black and white Vans and his pants were ripped denim.
His hair was buzzed on the bottom part, with the top having blonde fluff. Getting closer to the Labrador dog next to him, Kim realized they were curls. Then the man turned to look at him and smiled at his dog.
"Aki!"

When Kiyo woke me up from bed, I already knew today was special. That feeling that something was gonna happen, but not knowing what was there. I got up and went to the bathroom, did what I needed, brushed my teeth, fixed my hair, and went to the kitchen.
My lovely, beautiful, caring wife was in there making the typical average breakfast. Quick and easy, rice and some miso soup with Natto(fermented soybeans). We ate, talked, laughed, and then went to check on Aki in the living room. Our 3-year-old dog, who we found on the side of the road after heading back from Daichi's place from a party.
Aki wasn't in her usual spot, in her bed under the TV lying in an awkward position, so we assumed she was lying in front of the door. It was cold due to the air getting there easier so she would go there to cool off. After entertaining ourselves with some Criminal Minds, I went to check on her. Not before kissing Kiyo on the head and walking over.
When I reached the front door, I saw she wasn't there. Panic rose in me the moment I saw the space. Normal people would think that she was probably somewhere else in the house, which 9/10 times that would be the case. But Aki wasn't a normal dog, we established that when we caught her sitting in a human position on the couch watching Paw Patrol intensely.
"Love! Can you check the room for Aki? She's not in her spots!" I heard an agreement and rushed out the door with my shoes. We didn't have a doggy door, so how she got out through the front baffles me.
"Aki!" I yelled out, feeling sorry for the neighbors slightly. It was too early for chaos but my child was alone and she can get into weird situations when left unchecked. Just then a skateboard was rammed into the open gate. With my anxiety rising, I went out to look for Aki. After looking down the street, I turned my vision to the left and saw a kid, roughly in their late teen years walking with Aki at their side.
They had an undercut with dyed green hair, had piercings on the left ear and their eyebrow had a slit. Natural or cosmetic I couldn't decipher. They were wearing some black ripped jeans that were slightly too big so they wrinkled in some parts. Wearing black Hightop Converse with beads on the laces and writing on the white parts of the shoes, it was easy to tell this kid had a spunk aesthetic. Respect.
They got closer and I was able to define the kid more. Their face was feminine for sure, and reminded me of Natsu, or Hitoka when she was younger. Brown eyes, short lashes, average-sized nose, pale skin. Cute kids, they seemed nice too. Despite what their clothing might say. They weren't a punk to anyone. I would know the feeling of being seen that way.
"Hey, see you found my dog. Come 'ere Aki. Good girl, what trouble did you cause now, huh?" I cooed while giving her pet and small kiss on the head making her tail wag. Standing back up I noticed that the kid had an Eggo in hand with a suspiciously inhuman bite shape in it. I playfully glared at Aki while she looked away and trotted up to the door and scratched on it. Kiyoko opened the door and immediately bent down to pet her furry child. I turned back to the kids making them flinch.
"Sorry about the waffle, I'm Tanaka Ryunosuke. Do you want anything to eat, as a thank you for returning my dog safely?" They thought about it then smiled and nodded.
"I'm Atsuhina Kimiko, please call me Kim, Kimi, Bug. If that doesn't fit your tastes, I also respond to Slim-Shady-69 or mini John Mulaney. I go by all pronouns, so don't worry about calling me a girl. I don't mind." I gave them a smile in amusement. They may be young but I'm not gonna disrespect them for that.
"Cool, let's go. My wife made some good breakfast for growing kids." I said leading her into the house. Once opening the door and taking my shoes off, I moved so he could do the same. After walking away from the door they yelled out their apology for disturbing us. Tradition.
"Hello. I'm Ryu's wife, but you can call me Kiyo." The love of my life said as she walked into view for the kid to look. As if this were an anime, their eyes sparkled in amazement. I never quite got over the pride of being able to be with someone like that. Especially with how impulsive I can be.
"Hello! I'm Atsuhina Kimiko. Call me Kim, please. I use all pronouns, so I don't mind whatever you use." they explained. Kiyo nodded and smiled while heading over to the kitchen to give the kid some food.
"You always go down this road in the morning?"
"Yeah, I just try to not disturb the people while doing so. I go to the high school a couple blocks away from here." I nodded in acknowledgment. I then realized I could be making them late for class. Cursing in my head I saw how tense they were sitting in the high chairs we had for the island connected to the wall, separating the dining area from the kitchen.
I only started realizing how built for kids our house was a year and a couple of months after buying it. I found it funny due to us never being able to have kids. We tried for a bit, but we found out Kiyo was infertile. She fell into depression pretty badly after that and I had to make sure she was okay. She thought I would be upset, which is kinda true. Not at her, but the universe. I could never be angry with her.
Not like she chose that, she was just as excited to have kids like me. Maybe even more. When we got the news, I invested in getting a pet. Seeing as how people say they're just like kids anyway. They were right, we got our money's worth with Aki. She helped Kiyo in a lot of ways and I'm forever grateful to the little skip.
Kim prayed, thanked Kiyo for the food, and ate tenderly. It could have been for the reason it was someone else's home. Or the fact I was sitting right next to her while watching. Or maybe something else that was personal. You never know these days, so I opted to keep my mouth shut.
"Sense I practically messed with your daily routine. Would you like me to take you to school? We have to get to work anyway, and the school's pretty close." Their eyes popped out of her skull and she gave me a crazed look.
"No, no! It's fine! Really! You've already done so much." They exclaimed with rice stuffed in their mouth. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"We just gave you food, in appreciation for keeping our dog safe. It's not a bother." I felt bad for pushing it, but it would have been impossible to make it to school on time on a skateboard.
"Okay, sure. Just let me clean this up." Immediately I stopped them and took the empty plate away. They gave me a small smile but tried to take away the plate. With her being shorter than me, I just lifted them above my head and walked over to the sink. He started laughing and persisted in washing them but just kept them away with my leg pushed all the way out against their stomach.
After quickly cleaning the dishes, we got ready to get in the truck. We put Aki inside her kennel to make sure she didn't go crazy while we were gone. Daichi would come around to let her out and play with her so she wouldn't be lonely.
I realized they were gonna have trouble getting in the car, that was tall, with their skateboard. So I took it and nudged them to get in. She sat and reached for the board but I drew it back.
"Seatbelt first kiddo." They rolled their eyes playfully and complied. After hearing the click I gave them the board and closed the door for them. When I got in Kiyo was smiling at me, in a soft gaze. Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered. But this didn't happen just because I sat down. It usually happened when I did something she liked. I started the engine and gave the phone plugged into the speaker to Kiyo.
"Apologies for my, "shit taste" in music." She mused, while I playfully glared at the road then quickly her. I heard a small giggle in the backseat behind me. Right after, the song 'Back To You', started playing. I rolled my eyes in amusement as we came to our first red light.
"I like this song!" I teased while she rolled her eyes and turned to look at Kim.
"But whenever I play Taylor Swift, he gets angry." As soon as she finished speaking, she started laughing with the kid laughing along. I shook my head with a smile on my face.
"Terrible." I mused. "You wanna play one kid?" I asked. I looked in the mirror which allowed me to check my blind spot in the back and saw them eagerly nod while looking into the mirror too. They leaned forward diagonally and took the phone from Kiyo. Just then the radio changed to 'What Makes You Beautiful'. "Oh fuck yeah!" I yelled as Kiyo started laughing harder, while me and Bug started singing.
"YOU DON'T KNOW YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!!" We both yelled. I caught a glance at Kiyo's recording, no doubt this was getting sent to the group chat with the others later.
"BUT WHEN YOU SMILE AT THE GROUND, IT AIN'T HARD TO TELL!!" As the song was finishing, we arrived at the school with kids staring at the truck. Guess they recognized we weren't always here. The song ended and Kim got their stuff. They leaned forward to hug Kiyo then turned and gave me one. I reached out one arm to embrace them and pulled away.
"Thank you for the ride! Have a good day at work!" The said before getting out of the car and closing the door. But not before one of the kids, who I'm assuming is a friend, said something that made me and Kiyo get flustered.
"Are those your parents!?"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Making our way to class, Kubo Hifumi, my guy best friend, hadn't stopped pestering me about the people who dropped me off. Love the guy, but for someone who's shy with everyone but is loud and obnoxious around me and Kusuo,..... I wish I had left him alone during elementary fourth-year gym class. Satire of course, but still.
"Hey ~" I said making her look up to us. Fumi was sitting in his chair in front of her, while I leaned backward on the empty desk next to her. "Whatcha' doing?"
"I'm busy." She was, actually, in fact busy. Her notebook was out, so this meant she was trying to figure out a song she'd been meaning to write. Or just writing down ideas to get the band more attention. Yes, I'm in a band with my friends. I'm that bitch๐๐ .
"How busy, on a scale of one through ten??" Fumi joined in. We may all be best friends, but that doesn't mean we aren't aggravating pimples on Naoko Saiki's pink vagina.
"Fourteen." She responded, going along with our joke. She knew what we were doing, she was just putting up with it. Just before I was about to finish the joke the teacher opened the door and walked to the front of the classroom.
I went to my seat in the back. Why was I in the back? Well,...
