"BAI HE, DON'T run too far. The place is crowded." You called out to Bai He who was running through the marketplace with excitement.

It had been a few weeks since you met Bai He and you couldn't deny the fact that she was such a sweetheart. The girl had been asking you to accompany her to the marketplace to buy some things. You tried to politely decline her request without hurting her feelings, but Bai He just insisted and you found yourself accepting. So here you are, going with a little girl to the crowded marketplace. Of course, you had to disguise yourself.

People would freak out to see a dark furred monkey walking around.

Bai He stopped by a shop that sells accessories, "Come on, Y/N! Let's get in!" She exclaimed with excitement, jumping up and down. You sighed deeply and followed her, "I'm coming, I'm coming... I don't know why I agreed." You mumbled the last part to yourself, entering the shop with her. The place looked pretty decent and had a lot of beautiful accessories. You and Bai He browsed through the shelves, seeing the colorful and shiny jewelries.

As you mindlessly stared at the accessories, Bai He was contemplating on what to buy. You were actually in deep thoughts to see what she was doing. All you thought of was Wukong, it had been a long while since last you saw him. That bastard didn't even bother to check on you after the battle with the Lady Bone Demon. After all you were used and possessed by her. That guy sure doesn't know how to treat a lady.

"It's hopeless... Why do I even think about him?" You thought with a hint of frustration on your face.

"Y/N!"

You snapped out of your thoughts when Bai He called you out, "I called you out many times and you didn't reply." She told you with a pout on her face. You looked at her and petted her head, "Sorry, kid. I was just thinking about something." You apologized to Bai He, not really in the mood to tell her what you were thinking of, "Did you find something you want to buy?" You questioned to change the subject. The little girl beamed happily at you and nodded, "Yes, let me show you!" Before you could reply, she pulled you to a shelf that had a many accessories.

It was surprising how kids forget about things quickly.

She pointed at two necklaces, each one had half a heart with the words Best Friends graved on it. You smiled softly at her, "It's pretty, your friend will like it." You stated, feeling a bit envious that Bai He is a wonderful friend. You wished Wukong would be a bit like her. The girl smiled back at you, "Yes! I'm sure she will LOVE it!" She confidently said, her smile turning into a determined smirk.

After buying the necklaces, Bai He dragged you with her to the arcade then to Pigsy's Noodles and finally to the park near her house. The two of you sat on the bench, enjoying some ice-cream, "It was a wonderful day with you, Y/N." Bai He spoke up, breaking the silence between you two. You hummed calmly, "Yeah, it was." Your reply was simple.

"Remember when I bought those necklaces?"

"It was moments ago, kid, but yes."

"Well..."

Bai He went silent for a moment before she held one of the necklaces to you. You raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Isn't this for your friend?" You asked her only to for her to hold the necklace closer to you.

"Yup, and I want to give it to you."

You took a moment to process what she had told you, "You're my best friend, silly." Bai He proclaimed, giggling at your funny confused expression. Bai He moved closer and hugged you tightly that you dropped your ice-cream. You froze for a moment before hugging her back.

You felt warm in your heart when she said that you were her best friend, it made you feel... wanted.

"... Thanks, kid."

"No problem, I knew you would love it."

You returned to your gloomy dojo, letting out a deep sigh. However, you were surprisingly pleased with today's outing. A beautiful necklace with a half heart was resting elegantly around your neck, indicates the friendship between you and Bai He.

You oddly felt something strange around the dojo... and you knew what was happening.

"You're so bad at hiding, y'know."

"Ugh! Seriously!"

Wukong who was shifted into a bug groaned in annoyance, returning back to his original appearance. You crossed your arms and frowned, "What brings you here? And how dare you enter my place without permission?" You questioned him, completely upset that he came in uninvited. Monkey King rolled his eyes and huffed, "Look, I know we're not on good terms yet, but we need to talk." It was the first time you saw Wukong look so serious, it almost gave you a small spark of hope. However, you didn't want to show him that you were optimistic.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"It's about Mk."

Nope, it wasn't what you thought of.

You sighed deeply and walked past him to the couch, "Of course it's about Mk, what else would you want from me?" You uttered sarcastically with a sulked face. Wukong turned to face you, noticing how disappointed you looked, "Are you alright? You look... disappointed." He pointed out, moving closer to you.

"I'm fine. What about Mk?" You went directly to the topic, wanting him to leave already.

"Right. You see, I got those... ominous feelings that something bad might happen. I don't want Mk to be by himself when I'm not beside him, so I want you to stay by his side and help him."

A chuckle left your lips, "Why should I? He is not my successor." You mocked him, leaning back on the couch. You were amused by his audacity, it was as if you were Mk's mentor. Wukong frowned at your mockery, "I'm serious, Y/N. I really need you to keep the kid safe if anything happens to me." He insisted on his request firmly which frustrated you.

"Listen here, Sun Wukong. I'm not a servant you can order around. Mk is not my successor and you need to learn responsibility for at least once."

"Y/N, just-..."

"No, shut up! I'm not going to be involved in your problems anymore. I had enough. This is your mess, deal with it."

And just like that, you turned around to go to your bedroom. You grabbed the door handle and looked at Monkey King over your shoulder, "You will never change, Wukong." With that being said, you opened the door and went into the room, locking the door.

Wukong stood there, still shocked that you snapped at him. What surprised him the most was the hint of hurt in your eyes. Did he by any chance hurt your feeling?
