Not being able to fall asleep during the night was the worst. All you can do was stare up at the ceiling or gaze at your room, fluttering your eyelids in boredom, waiting impatiently to drift off to sleep. Least that's what the Monoma felt at the moment. It felt especially annoying for him, knowing that non of his classmates were up, nobody to bother or talk to. It was just him alone as the world slept.

His room was dimly lit considering it was late in the night. Monoma found himself sitting up on his bed, he felt a bit thirsty. Though as Monoma reached for glass on his nightstand, he noticed it was empty. That felt a bit devastating, yet least he had an excuse to go downstairs to get himself another glass of water. Grabbing a hoodie, Monoma pulled it over himself before running his fingers through his hair.

The male made his way out of his room, quietly and slowly closing the door behind him as to not disturb anyone. The hallways were quiet and dead as expected. It was past midnight after all. As he proceeded down the hallways and towards the common area, all he heard was his soft footsteps. It was a bit weird. He honestly just wanted to go to sleep soon, it felt boring for his liking.

It took the blonde by surprise when he heard footsteps at the end of the hallway. Someone was actually up at this hour? Monoma took a second to pause.

There at the end of the hallway, a familiar violet-haired male also paused upon seeing Monoma.

"Oh, Shinsou-Kun." As excited as Monoma was to see someone up, he tried to be more quiet considering how it was past midnight and most of his classmates should be sleeping. He should have expected to see the one and only Hitoshi Shinsou up at this hour.

"Monoma, never thought to see you up at this hour." Shinsou spoke up in a questioning tone, seeming a bit surprised through his tired eyes which appeared to widened for a split second at the sight of Monoma. A small grin appeared across Monoma's lips. "Couldn't sleep, I'm assuming you couldn't sleep either?" He asked. That was probably it. Shinsou had mentioned that he had trouble sleeping to him awhile back.

Shinsou nodded to Monoma's question, a simple and mere nod before he tried to walk pass the blonde, likely to head back to his dorm room. Yet was blocked as Monoma moved directly in front of him.

"Is there something you need or?" He rose his brow. Feeling a bit annoyed at being suddenly blocked, yet surely Monoma had a reason. He'll just hear the other out so that he can be left alone afterwards. Or at least he hoped, Monoma can be a bit difficult to predict at times.

Monoma's grin faded into a smaller smile, a smile that made Shinsou's heart skip a beat. For he has taken interest in the blonde, even if he acts as if he doesn't at all. Especially with how distant and kinda cold he is at times. "Come with me to get water." Monoma merely said. Shinsou paused in slight confusion. What is he? Five years old? Yet, Shinsou felt as if he didn't want to say no to that request. So with a sigh, he muttered out a mere, "Sure then." Though it still sounded a bit dumbfounded.

As late as it was, the two walked to the kitchen area of the dormitory. Both remaining in a silence which was comfortable. Maybe it was because it was the middle of the night and in a place where nobody could hurt them. Or perhaps, they trusted one another. Ever since Shinsou switched to class 1B, Monoma has been always clinging to him and giving the male a hand occasionally. It made Shinsou feel more fond of Monoma, despite how obnoxious and loud he can be.

Regardless, the quietness never bothered the two. They tend to remain quiet whenever hanging around each other at times. Though Shinsou also tends to just listen to Monoma ramble on about various topics. Cause Monoma can really go on and on about anything. If it's about school, family related or something he takes interest in, even talking bad about very certain people, he always will have something to speak about and Shinsou listens.

Monoma had already poured himself some water and they seemed to just be standing there. Shinsou leaned up against the counter, adverting his eyes away from the blonde, looking elsewhere. Monoma also seemed to be the sling the same. His gaze was fixated towards the window, staring outside.

It looked serene and still, as if it were a realistic painting you'd see at a museum. Moonlight shined through the window, showing how brightly it shined on this night. Monoma definitely wasn't gonna fall asleep for awhile, he didn't feel tired at all. Maybe the fact that he was just standing here with Shinsou added up to that feeling. Even so, he didn't want to sleep now. Especially after looking at the window, instead, he had other ideas.

"Hey Shinsou-Kun. I'm guessing that we both won't be able to sleep for awhile, so wanna go hang out outside? Just outside the dormitory, no need to walk around campus cause we'll likely get in trouble."

Monoma turned to Shinsou. It just looked peaceful out there. During the days, students are usually hanging around outside. There's often people around. Yet right now, it looked quiet. Like it would be an ideal place to hang out for awhile, even if it were just for a few minutes.

In all honesty, Shinsou knew that he would end up just laying on his bed and staring up at his ceiling blankly, just waiting to fall asleep. It would be annoying. Maybe he needs to waste more energy and going to hang out with Monoma doesn't sound horrible right now. It depends beats just waiting to fall asleep which would likely end up pointless. "Eh sure, it's not like I'll end up sleeping for awhile."

And with that, Monoma nodded excitedly and went towards the door, Shinsou followed right next to him. Hopefully they don't get caught. The students do have curfews. Their teacher, Vlad King, is a more laid back considering the students of class 1B usually obey curfew and the rules, yet he does show to not be opposed to making sure that they do follow the rules and that they are safe.

Even so, it is only hanging out like right outside the dormitory, nothing too crazy like full on sneaking out to a party. It would be kinda ridiculous for them to get in trouble if they got caught right outside the dormitory.

Quietly, Monoma opened the door. His eyes glanced towards Shinsou as it opened. They didn't have to try way too hard to be quiet. They soon both stepped outside. It was quite dead and quiet outside, though in a peaceful way. It felt like a perfect settling to just chill and wait until they both eventually get tired enough to go back to their room.

The moon shined just as brightly as it looked from inside the dormitory. It actually casted shadows behind trees, bushes and small structures around. The two walked more forward together. They both silently agreed to just staying outside the dormitory as to not get into much trouble if they were to get caught. Plus it's not like they'd have anywhere else to go past midnight.

Monoma looked over at Shinsou with a calm smile before pointed towards the left of him. "We should go towards the side." He said. Shinsou honestly decided to just agree to wherever Monoma wanted to go, he didn't really have any ideas himself anyway. He gave a simple nod to Monoma. "Yeah sure. Just go and I'll follow." He said.

Monoma quickly made his way towards the side of their dorm building, Shinsou following closely behind him. Once there, Monoma immediately went to sit in the shadow casted by the building in the moonlight and of course, Shinsou followed, sitting down beside him. Once more, they quietly sat there. The night late breeze blew by, causing a soft 'whoosh' noise that stood out in the comfortable silence. The small bush hedges and longer blades of grass moved ever so lightly, swaying to the side then back to their original stances.

It was definitely a calming moment. The two completely forgot about the ideas of school and hero work, just enjoying the pleasant late night where they sat together, rather then waiting in boredom to fall asleep. They both mutually enjoyed this.

"The stars look beautiful, don't they?" Monoma spoke up with a grin. His head was tilted up. Shinsou also tilted his head upwards to see what the other just spoke up about. Surely, his eyes stayed focused at the sky above.

Way above them, millions and millions of stars boldly shined down, standing out upon the dark, navy blue sky. It almost appeared as if they shined just as brightly as the moon from the shadows that they sat within. A few clouds were slowly moving in the breeze, though not an alarming amount that covers the sea of stars. If anything, the clouds added to the beauty of the sky.

Monoma couldn't help but chuckle to himself. Instead of the stars, he found himself turning towards Shinsou as he quietly stared up just as what he was doing a second ago. He found it endearing to see Shinsou so fixated on something, considering that he didn't seem to pay attention to anything or anyone. Monoma blushed a soft pink. As much as he didn't like being up when others weren't, he's happy that he wasn't able to sleep.

"I can feel you staring, Monoma." Shinsou quietly said. That sentence made Monoma pause for a second before quietly laughing himself. He adverted his eyes away from Shinsou and looked back up at the starry sky.

"I'm guessing you're enjoying the sky as well." He said as if he was purposely ignoring what Shinsou had just said. That made Shinsou feel a bit confused for a moment, but Monoma was, well, Monoma so guess it wasn't worth to overthink too much. He was always a bit of everything in a way, maybe that's what makes him so amusing.

"It is." Shinsou replied, almost in a mumble. Monoma couldn't help but giggle. "I do always choose the bestest of places. You can thank me later." He said in a teasing manner. Maybe he was actually right. 'Cause right now the two students sat on a comfortable patch of grass within the shadow, where if they looked above, they would get a beautiful view of the stars. Even if to were just outside their dormitory, it was lovely. As for now, Shinsou agreed with Monoma's idiotic comment.

Shinsou, of course, didn't reply which left the two in silence for a few moments. They both stared up at the sky. Yet Monoma, he couldn't get Shinsou off his mind. Perhaps it was just the fact that the violet-haired male sat right beside him or some other 'unknown' reason, rather then the fact that Monoma was enjoying being able to spend time with the other.

Even though they both hung out everyday and see each other all the time, Monoma can't help but think that this feels special. It was a one on one hangout where it felt as if the whole world was sound asleep, aside them. He got to hear Shinsou's voice, see those sleepy eyes which he adored and sit directly next to him, to where he could almost feel the natural coldness of Shinsou.

He internally laughed at himself, he was so love-stuck that it was so ridiculous and made him feel more idiotic then he already was truly.

Yet he liked it. It always made him feel so lively when thinking of Shinsou. The way he would have the biggest grin and the fact that he felt his heart beat in such an odd way. He definitely had no complaints about this crush of his.

Monoma couldn't help but scoot himself closer to Shinsou and he didn't try to hide it at all. He just wanted to be closer, to feel touch. Considering that they already sat so closely, this immediately grabbed the attention of the other who turned his head towards the blonde slightly. He could feel his arm touching the other's arm. Though honestly, Shinsou was getting quite used to Monoma's touchy nature.

A lot of the times, Monoma would come running up to Shinsou, as if he was gonna hug him. Clung onto his arm, hug him from behind, sit way too close and many more things. Sure, it was flustering and annoying at first yet he had grown accustomed to it. It was gotten to the point where Shinsou feels extremely weirded out if Monoma doesn't try to get close to him or get psychical with him, as if he completely expects it.

With a small sigh, Shinsou moved his arm, stretching out towards Monoma's hand. He intertwined their fingers, holding the other's warm hands closer to his, holding onto it. This action brought a blush to Monoma's face. He definitely did not expect that, like at all. Not even for a mere second, never came to mind, not even when he sat so close to the other.

"Where's this coming from?" Monoma said, trying to sound as if he was teasing Shinsou for this sudden touch. Yet the way he fumbled for a moment clearly told Shinsou that he got stunned by that, a bit nervous even. "Don't act as if you don't always cling onto me, I know what you want." Shinsou replied bluntly.

And from that, looks like the tables turned on Monoma. His heart skipped a few beats. Those words were sharp, it pieced through him and his heart. Shinsou wasn't the type to even give anything back to him, as in hugs or simple touch. Most of the time, all he can get is the walking, standing or sitting closely to each other and that was it, nothing more. So this felt like such a surprise.

But a pleasant one. Monoma couldn't tease Shinsou at all for this, partly because he got flustered for once. He also just wanted to stay like this, have the other close to him. As cold as Shinsou is, here he was. His fingers intertwined with Monoma's and their shoulders touching one another. Finally, a warm smile came to Monoma's surprised face. He leaned up against Shinsou, resting his head on his shoulder. He does just want to stay like this.. he really did hope that this means that Shinsou feels more comfortable with touch now and will finally hug him back.

Shinsou blushed a bit himself. Monoma was so warm compared to him. He always emitted such warmth which made Shinsou tolerate it whenever he came close to him. He liked this quality of the other a lot, along with a lot more. Like how smugly he grins when teasing him, the way his eyes light up upon seeing something he likes, how expressive he is with all the hand gestures and movements he does while speaking. It was adorable.

"Maybe we should do things like this more often, eh?" Monoma yawned.

"We will."

"Then we will. I'll choose an even better place next time."

Shinsou doubted that there could be anything more better then this night. Even if it were just for awhile, he knew this will be carved within his mind. It was something that he thought was very much worth remembering. Monoma definitely had mutual feelings.

Yet we'll see about that. For now, the present is all that matters. That's what everyone says.
