Kate dropped onto her couch after a long few day Of false bomb threats and people obsessed with cars, a tired sigh escaped her lips and her eyes threatened to close.!

"You tired?" Buck asked, he sat down next to her and handed her a cup of tea which he had gotten better at making.

Usually it would be wine but with the bomb threat, she wanted to stay sober in case of an emergency.

"Very much" she nodded "all these false threats, they are making me so unbelievably anxious"

"You know I forget sometimes that you aren't from here"

Kate cracked a smile "what the accent doesn't do it anymore?"

Buck gave a short laugh "no, I just meant.. it feels like you've always been here. Like it's been years rather than just a year"

"It's okay Buck, I'm already your girlfriend" Kate patted his knee

He rolled his eyes "You know those first few days when you joined, I wasn't sure why I was mad about you being there. I still don't, but after the guy with a grenade in his leg, seeing you with him talking about his wife and distracting him, I realized how much of an ass I was being and after the earthquake, everything changed. I seen how strong you were and i think that's when I started liking you but just couldn't admit it"

Kates blue eyes softened, her heart swooned as Buck serenaded her in words "it was the night you came over with pizza and wine, you were the first person I told about Adam, opening up to someone made me feel so much better and knowing it was you.. well it made it feel better. This is what I fell for, the way you can talk for 5 minutes and listen to me that for 30."

"I like when you open up,  makes me worry less" he admitted

Kate instantly felt swarmed with guilt, there was a-lot she didn't tell him, she paid  for her ex fiancés rehab and she talked to him just to cut him off  "maybe you won't like what I'm about to say next"

His face fell to worry, his brow knitted closely as his mind wondered through a thousand thoughts

"I paid for Adams rehab, and two weeks ago I talked to him about how I felt and I had to move on from that part of my life"

Buck felt rage bubble up from inside of him, he wasn't mad about the conversation they had but he was mad that she paid his rehab bill "you paid his bill?" He asked

"Yes, but only because I needed him to stop calling and texting and -..

"You could have blocked him" Buck interrupted

"Well I tried that but-.."

"God, why would you?" He asked, his tone slowly changing.

Kate gave him a narrowed look "because I chose to, because it's my money and I only told you to be honest. I wasn't asking permission or apologizing"

"Why would you try to better his life after he ruined yours?" Buck asked, he stood from the couch and paced around.

"Because the only way I thought I could move on was if I helped him do it to, but that changed. That's why I cut him off of all contact"

"Can't he pay you back or something"

Kate stood up, "I don't want it back Buck, I didn't give it to him with expectations of getting it back. I did it to try and help him so my family wouldn't have to be put at risk again."

"He's ruined your life, he's tore you apart more than once and that's only what I've seen here. How can you just-..

"Buck if I wanted a lecture I would have asked for one, I told you to be honest okay. We are not some 1960s married couple, what I do with my money had nothing to do with you"

"I just don't understand-

"Understand this, it's done, it's paid for and you mightn't understand why but you don't have to. I can't give you one exact reason why I did it because I don't even know, but there's nothing to be done now" she argued

"You could take the money back!"

"Buck he has no money!" Kate yelled "he's broke and a part of me felt obligated to help so I did, but if he's sober and he stays sober that he will move on. He will put me behind him and that's what I need"

Bucks brows furrowed, one thought crossed his mind "do you still care about him?

Kates face fell from its stern expression "Evan buckley, or course I don't care about him!" She yelled.
"Kate I-..

"I'm not doing this" she shook her head "I'm done arguing about this, I'm going to bed"

She turned from Buck and walked down the short hallway, neither of them considered the what would happen in a right with their whole living situation.

Kate locked her door, she landed on her bed in a huff.

Their first fight had to happen eventually.

The day had passed quietly, apart from the bomb that was left outside Athena grants front door; that caused worries to rise but the 118 tried to reassure themselves and others.

Kate had said barely two words to Buck all day, he hadn't tried either.

It's not like Kate didn't want to talk to him, she always wanted to talk him but right now she wasn't sure what to say, maybe he right about her helping Adam but he had to understand too and not question her reasons

"You and Buck talk yet?" Eddie asked

"Nope" Kate answered, popping the p.

"I think he's sorry, he's been moping all day" Eddie's tried to help

"Yeah me too" Kate sighed, "maybe I was too quick  to get mad but he shouldn't question my choices, or ask if I still-

"Kate his last girlfriend said she was going away for a few months and never came back, he has some trust issues and sure you do too because it doesn't sound like he was questing but rather he was trying to understand"

Kate sighed, dropped her head into her hands "he's not Adam"

"And you aren't Abby, but sometimes people can forget that"

Their conversation was cut short by the wailing alarm that signaled a call.

Eddie and Kate ran down the stairs and grabbed their gear, following their crew to the separate trucks

"Kate go with buck" chimney ordered

Kate nodded and jumped into the back of the fire truck, Buck sat in the front beside the driver.

The trucks took off in a matter of seconds, the silence between Buck and Kate seemed louder then the sirens above them.

"Hey we need to talk" Kate said into the small mic

"I wanna apologize-

"No you don't have to, I only got so defensive because Adam used to question how I spent money, and -

"And you just felt like I was doing the same" Buck finished

"But you weren't because you aren't Adam and—..."

"You aren't Abby"

Kate chuckled, "I guess we both have some issues now"

"Yeah I guess"

"You know we guys can here you right?" Hens voice landed in Kate's ear.

"Hey, that's all down to me" Eddie took credit

"Of course it is Edmundo" Kate laughed, shaking her head.

"118, 118, this is Dispatch. Got Bobby Nash on the line. He says it's important."

"Wait, what?"

It took 10 seconds, 10 seconds for the truck to explode into flames. 10 seconds for glass to shatter from windows and fire to erupt from the engine, it took 10 seconds for the truck to crash onto its side. 10 seconds for Kate to realize her seat belt kept her strapped to the outer seat, it took 10 seconds for Kate to notice Evan wasn't in the truck.

Kate groaned, feeling the seat belt dig into her side as she dangled; she clutched her hand around the window, her other hand reached for the belt buckle. Kate sucked in a breath and clicked the small button,  the belt flew from her torso and Kate felt her body jolt as it dangled from the window.

"Fuck" she mumbled, noticing the blood oozing from her side, she pulled herself up through the window, her eyes met with burning fire.

"Hey!" A unfamiliar voice yelled,

Kate turned her aching head, she noticed the bullet the flew towards her. She ducked and tumbled back into the truck, a pain like no other had ran through her arm; the bullet grazed across her arm. She landed at the bottom a gasp left her lips as her back was met with the hard metal.

Fortunately for her the bullet had only skimmed across her arm, it was enough for her to feel the pain and notice the bleeding wound but there was no bullet embedded in her arm and no hole to dig around.

Kate let out a small cry, her body ached from the toes up.

Kate heard distant yelling, she assumed whomever was responsible for this was still alive and kicking, Probably the same person who shot at her

Kate sucked in a breath, she pushed her body up from the wall of the truck; an agonizing cry leaving her mouth as she did. She pulled herself up using one of the seats as a balance, she used them as stepping stones, climbing from one to another until she reached the same window.

Her body cried out for her to stop, her arm Burned, her head was pounding beyond what she thought was possible and her back felt like it had a thousand rocks resting upon it But she was determined to leave the burning truck.

She pulled herself out the window once again. This time being more cautious of the arm man - who thankfully was being distracted by her captain.

Kate crawled to the edge of the fallen truck, she looked down at the ladder, her breath hitched as she seem Evan Buckley under the truck.

Her mind became fogged, all she could think about was Buck. Suddenly she felt like the whole world laid on her chest, her breathing became heavier and more painful from each breath. Her vision was fading, black dots taking over what she once saw and in a matter of second she was out like a light, her body falling from the truck onto the hard concrete.

Buck watched as Kate fell from the truck, her body landed only feet away from his "Kate" he croaked,

Captain Nash had managed to disarm the young man, once he was of no threat the members of the 118 ran over to their injured crew.

Hen kneeled down beside Kate, she check her neck for a pulse "strong pulse, she probably passed out due to the pain"

In the seconds to come Kate's eyes opened, a gasp so strong it burned ripped through her throat. Her pain was intensified no doubt from falling off the truck, everywhere Burned with agonizing pain

"Buck" she Coughed

"Kate I need you to tell me where it hurts?" Hen said

"Everywhere" she muttered, "my back and.. my head and my arm" she tried to specify

"Okay, let's run a line" she told Eddie, hen strapped a neck brace around her until they could further investigate.

Eddie turned his attention a way from Buck, he inserted the needle into Kate's hand, the morphine slowly making its way through her system.

"You okay?" Eddie asked

"Buck" she repeated, she gripped her nails into the concrete to pull herself closer,

"Oh woah, it's okay, it's okay" Eddie stopped her, he moved out of her eye line so she could see Buck

More firefighters ran towards the truck, they all took a grip around the bars, Kate squeezed bucks hand "this is gonna hurt okay"

Every firefighter who took grip of the truck used all their strengths in an attempt to lift the truck high enough to pull Buck out

Bucks crying roars burned in Kate's ear, she could only find the strength to reassure him over and over, holding back the quiet sobs that threatened.

"Kate we gotta move you, you could get hurt" Hen advice

"No!" She strained, "no, I'm staying till he gets out"

Right now Kate didn't care about how much pain she was in, she didn't care about the rocks on her back our the pounding in her ears, all she cared about was the boy who laid feet away from her.

"We need more people. I'll radio again. Dispatch, this is the captain."

Kate heard as the barriers broke, a thousand running   Footsteps came trampling before her. Every civilian that stood and watched now grabbing any available area to grip. Kate cried quietly as they all rallied together for Buck.

"You got this okay, it will be over soon" Kate reassured

On the count of tree every one surrounding the truck bared down and used all their strength to hoist it from the ground.

Bleeding roars came from Bucks mouth, Kate tried her hardest to talk him through the worst pain im his life.

"It's almost over, Just s few more seconds"

Hen pulled his body from underneath the truck, painful screams still roaring from his mouth, but he was free and it was all thanks to innocent standbys.

"He's okay Kate, you can let go" hen nodded

Kate let go of his hand, she felt hen turn over her body, the pain escaping through agonizing cries. A backboard was slipped underneath her and she was lifted to an ambulance.

...

Kate's eyes were blinded by the white lights of the hospital room, it took a few seconds for them to adjust.

"She's okay Ms Quinn, she sprained her lower back and pulled a few muscles, and she is concussed but she'll be okay... no, no stay where you are. Bucks sister is Gonna stay with them for a few weeks and I'll be checking in everyday.

"Eddie" Kate grunted

Eddie turned around "oh she's awake, here"

Eddie handed Kate the phone, she slowly brought it to her ear

"Hi"

"Oh sweet girl, I saw the news"

"The news?" Kate questioned

"Yes, I like to watch the American news for this exact reason."

"I'm okay mam"

"Are you sure, because I can get on the first flight out and—

"Mam, im okay. Nothing that won't heal with someTime and-..

"Warm 7 up" her mam finished, it always something they when anyone in their family was sick.

Kate grunted, she gave a small scoff- laugh "I don't think warm 7 up will do it this time"

"I love you honey"

"I love you too, I'll call you later okay"

"Alright, and I don't care about the time difference, just call okay"

"I know, I know. Love you"

Kate handed Eddie his phone back, "what happened to me?"

"You sprained your lower back, pulled some muscles too. You have a grazed gunshot wound and a concussion" he explained "all which can be healed in a month to six weeks"

"God, I just remember the truck exploding and -.. Evan!" She remember

"He's out of surgery, everything went well"

Kate tried to sit up "I wanna go see him" she huffed, pain radiating her body.

Eddie gave her a gentle push down "okay, hold on. Look the doctor was confident Buck would walk again but it's still unsure about work"

"I don't care, I wanna see him"

"Yes but he will Kate, all you need is a few weeks rest and then you can do light activities, Buck might not be able to do any, you need to prepare yourself for the person he might be"

Kate rolled her eyes "I know Buck okay and I know if you don't take me to see my boyfriend I'm gonna get up and walk to him" she protested

Eddie sighed, he grabbed the wheelchair from the corner of the room "you are so stubborn"

Eddie took her hand and helped her from the bed to the chair, Kate wasn't in too much pain. Maybe a 7 out of 10 but nothing compared to what she was expecting Buck to feel.

"Did you say Maddie would be staying with us?" Kate asked

"When's she not working, and when she is Carla will be over"

"I'm more than capable of taking care of us both"

"Kate stop trying to be so strong and take the help, you are gonna be in a lot of pain until your back heal. You'll need help."

"Fine" Kate huffed "but only because in agony" she admitted

"You need me to higher the morphine"

"No, no it will settle"

"Are you okay though, a lot happened?" Eddie asked

"I was terrified for Buck, I thought- god I thought for a second he wasn't going to survive" she admitted "opening my eyes and seeing that he wasn't In the truck... it was terrifying"

"I asked about you?" Eddie chuckled

"Eddie, how soon is too soon to love someone?" Kate asked

Eddie stopped, he looked at her with an amused impression "you love him?"

"I thought he was going to die and I couldn't breath, I mean I literally passed out. That's not something you feel for someone you don't love - but it's only been 5 months and -

"And at least 6 months of you two liking each other" Eddie added

Kate nodded, she hadn't take that into account "yeah you're right"

Eddie turned into bucks room, Kate's heart dropped as she seen him in the bed. He pushed her to his bedside and she carefully stood up, joining her lips with his for a few seconds.

"I love you" she confessed "you don't have to say it back, I know you might not feel the same and that's -..

"I love you"

Kate smiled, she kissed him once again. Even if the were both in agony, but recovering from traumatic injuries and would both remember this day for longer than they wanted. At least they had each other,

Kate was finally happy. Maybe she still wasn't "fixed" but even with her injuries, she felt better than she had in a long time and that was thanks to the 118 and the man she loved.

Ahhh season 2 is officially wrapped! (So is season 5 and we weren't left with disappointed)

I had so much fun with this, and the love I've received is amazing! I honestly can't believe it.

I will he publishing the next chapter soon, which will be the start of season three. I'm SO excited for season three, so much drama with the lawsuit and I can't wait to write it. Also a closer look into Kate's old life!!!
