TW IMPLICATIONS OF ABUSE

Rutger

its 9:30 am on a chilly Thursday morning in Ann Arbor Rutger wakes up to head to Hockey practice, he takes a quick shower and gets dressed then heading to the kitchen to meet some of his teammates who he also happens to live with.

Entering the kitchen, he's greeted by 3 men, Ethan Edwards, Luca Fantilli and Mark Estapa. greeting them good morning in a groggy voice Rutger yawns feeling exhausted. Luca Questions him " what's with you this morning I thought you went to bed at like 10:30 dude there's no was your tiered"

Rutger replies back "oh uh I just couldn't sleep too good I guess"

Ethan buts in with a sly smile "I wonder why ? got some thing on you're mind or yano someone"

mark snaps his neck towards the tiered boy "wait, who ? do you have a girlfriend or something "

Rutger denies this but Ethan  comments "he wishes she was"

receiving a playful punch on the arm from Rutger, Luca joins the conversation asking "wait who is this girl I feel like I've never heard you talk about one specific girl"

With a sheepish smile, Rutger replies "her names Raelynn she's a PR major, I don't even know her that well she helped me find a PR manager yesterday"

the group of boys reply with a childish oooooo Rutger laughing telling them to shut up. The boys head out to practice meeting the rest of their teammates at Yost ice arena, getting ready and heading out on the ice. Rutger just couldn't fully focus on what he was doing his mind still swirling with thoughts of this stunning woman who was appeared into is life and flipped it upside down.

His thoughts were interrupted by Mark, "dude you aren't acting like your self this girls really driving you insane huh ? why don't you just message her like ask her to go out  of something"

Rutger replies anxiously to his friend "well what if she doesn't see it like that I don't want her to think I'm weird or something "

Mark pats his friends shoulder "dude your good I'm sure she would be happy to see you again I mean your a great guy she'd be dumb not to. Text her after practice and ask her out what's the worst that can happen ?"

Rutger thinks for a moment and agrees with the older boy deciding to message the girl once practice was over lifting the weight of this slightly off his shoulders letting him focus slightly more back into hockey.

After finally exiting the locker room Rutger sighs and begins to write out a text to Rae.

Rutger

hey Rae, I know this is sudden but would you maybe want to go out sometime soon

He then shuts his phone of nervous for what Raelynn had to say to him.

Raelynn

walking out of her communications and media lecture Raelynn leaves the building to head back to her apartment.

Getting back in her car  Rae turns her phone off do not disturb and the first notification to pop up was a text from Rutger. Wait Rutger, whys he texting me

Rutger

hey Rae, I know this is sudden but would you maybe want to go out sometime soon

oh my god

Raelynn is shock, he wants to go out with her again.  maybe he's just trying to be polite oh well wouldn't hurt to see him again.

Raelynn quickly reply's

Absolutely I'm free every day till Monday let me know when works for you :)

almost instantly Rutger reply's back

sounds good I'm free tomorrow so ill see you then ?

Rae shuts off her phone in disbelief, she cant believe it he's practically just asked her on a date and she agreed.

it's not like Rae doesn't like men but she's not fond , after her past experience she's practically been put off for life but maybe Rutgers changed her mind.

flash back -January 2023

Rae runs out of the apartment of her boyfriend Cayden Hargreaves, him following closely behind spitting venomous words at the young girl as tears pour out of her icy blue eyes as she's try to get as far away from the man as she could.

Cayden, was a 26 year old grown man, 5'10 and muscular he could practically crush the 5ft petit 18 year old girl whom he was chasing down causing the girl to run as fast as her legs would carry her.

Finally slamming her car door shut she try's to ignore Cayden slamming on her car window hurling vicious threats towards her as tears roll down her freckled cheeks and her hands tremble Raelynn pulls out the parking lot ,of the man she once thought she loved, trembling terrified for her life.

END OF FLASH BACK

Raelynn

Walking into her shared apartment, Rae was still so confused on what she was feeling knowing if their was anyone to talk to about this it would be Ariana.

without even letting Ari get a word in Rae blurts out "Rutger asked me if I wanna go out again and I agreed"

practically jumping off the couch beaming "RAELYNN MAE HARRINGTON WHAT OH MY GOD REALLY"

bashfully Rae answered "yes I don't know he asked me and I didn't want to say no"

Ariana grabbed her best friends hands stating "Rae you like him, I know you don't want to hear that but you do"

Rae, avoiding eye contact, meekly replies "no I don't like him like he's nice but I don't like him Ari"

Ariana tells the blond girl sincerely "Rae I know Cayden fucking sucks but don't let him stop you loving people, don't give him that power over you"

tears begin dancing in Raes waterline threatening to fall on her cheeks as ultimately what the Brunette had just told her was completely right and it scared her, grabbing her best friend in to an embrace Raelynn reply's "thank you Ari you always know what to say"

with a light laugh Ariana answers back kiddingly "I know I'm a pro, anyway I'm gonna need details of your date"

breaking from the hug the two girls plop on to their couch and Raelynn shows the text conversation to Ariana causing the pair to giggle like 12 year old girls  making Rae feel giddy  for the next day.
