THE NEXT MORNING, ariella woke up feeling more peace than she had in days. the conversations with walker the night before, their time together on the beach—everything seemed to be falling into place. the tension that had once hovered between them was now replaced with a quiet understanding, and ariella couldn't help but smile as she stretched, the warmth of the sun filtering in through the window.

she quickly grabbed her phone to check for messages from the boy.

as she got ready, she thought about her bond with the boy. walker was kind, considerate, but also so easy to be around. he made her laugh, made her think, and most importantly, he respected her in a way that made everything seem... right. it was crazy that this had all started over a lifestream and some ice cream. 

when noon finally came, ariella made her way to the beach, wearing a simple white sundress and sandals, her hair pulled back in a messy bun. she spotted walker almost immediately, standing near the water with a wide grin on his face. he was wearing a blue button-up shirt and a pair of khaki shorts, his feet sinking into the sand as he bounced on his heels.

"hi walkieee" she called out, her voice carrying on the breeze.

walker turned, and his face lit up as soon as he saw her. "hi, beautiful." 

ariella raised an eyebrow, intrigued. even though she almost melted at walker calling her beautiful.  "hi handsomeee, you seem pretty excited about something. what's going on?"

walker's smile turned mischievous. "nothing ariii, but i have a few things for us to do."

ariella was ready to do whatever the boy wanted her too, shoot she would jump into the cold ocean right now,

walker led her to a small booth by the shore, where a woman was renting out jet skis for the day. ariella's jaw dropped. "wait, walker you didn't!" she exclaimed.

"i did," walker said, grinning. "we're going jet skiing. what do you think?"

ariella's eyes widened in excitement. "oh my god, this is perfect. i've always wanted to try jet skiing, but i've never had the chance."

"then today's the day," walker said, taking her hand and leading her to the rental station.

they spent the next few hours over the waves, the wind whipping through their hair, their laughter blending with the sound of the ocean. walker drove the jet ski first, making ariella feel safe as they sped through the water. when it was her turn to drive, walker was right behind her, his hands steadying her as she drove.

after jet skiing, both of them were a little sunburned, but it didn't matter. they collapsed onto the beach towels, laughing and trying to catch their breath. ariella wiped her face with the back of her hand, the saltwater making her skin tingle.

"this is the best day ever," she said, glancing at walker, who was lying next to her, his hand brushing against hers.

"i'm glad you think so," he replied, his tone soft. "i wanted today to be special. you deserve that."

ariella smiled at him, feeling her heart flutter a little. "you're really sweet, you know that?"

he shrugged, looking a little shy all of a sudden. "it's just the truth. i like being around you."

ariella's breath caught in her throat at his words. he was so genuine, so raw with his emotions. it made her feel safe in a way she hadn't expected.

they spent the next few hours lounging on the beach, talking about everything and nothing, while blake, leena, and tanner played frisbee a few yards away. blake and leena kept exchanging glances, and ariella caught Leena's eyes a few times, as if sharing an unspoken joke. she couldnt help but laugh at how her sister kept looking. 

then, as the day wound down, walker pulled out a small cooler from under a towel. "ok sooo i thought we could have a picnic before we head back. i packed your favorite—sandwiches, chips, and soda. and of course tru fru"

ariella's eyes widened. "you remembered?"

Walker laughed. " i pay attention."

they enjoyed the meal in silence, sitting side by side, watching the sun start to set, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. it was one of those moments that Ariella knew she'd remember forever, tucked away in her heart as something so simple, yet so perfect.

as the sun dipped lower into the horizon, walker leaned back on his elbows, turning his head to look at ariella. she glanced at him, and for a moment, they both just stared at each other, the world around them falling away.

"what?" Ariella asked softly, a teasing glint in her eyes.

walker shook his head, his smile slow and steady. "nothing, just... you're perfect. and i don't know if you realize it, but you make everything better."

ariella's heart swelled in her chest at his words, and she felt a warmth spread through her. she wasn't sure what was happening between them, but in that moment, she didn't care. everything felt right. she reached for his hand, intertwining her fingers with his.

"i'm glad we're here," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

walker nodded, his thumb brushing over her hand. "me too."
