'my judicial father of this world...
was a real psycho.'
"ewya."
goosebumps spread all over her as her face turned comically blue in fright.

'whoa. goosebumps...'
she trembled in her newly bought crib, small arms flailing in the air as her face ludicrously portrayed her fear.
the only information that himawari had seemed to collect from overhearing the whispering of the workers, was that the place she currently was living in, was originally the orphanage where her maternal parents were brought up.
it was somewhat tolerably funded... or so it was until the day himawari was born, when it only took a simple command from the commander, for an intellectually gifted member of his to pull some strings behind the scenes and change that decently provided subsidise to be a paltry sum.
'...though i guess that's been slowly changing...'
himawari sighed as she glanced above to see one of the new additions, a spinning mobile, an indication of a newly bought crib.
himawari's mother, hisako, was also an orphan that was soon adopted by her step-mother. she drew mikey's attention, but then had met her childhood sweetheart and was soon deflowered by said guy.
a/n: coincidence? i think not, smells to me like they acted impulsively due to ur typical tr parentless behaviour.
but then she was forgotten... and died following days after her lover's death from her inherited illness. the pair of lovers both truly had their lives taken as star crossed lovers, albeit the unforeseen event of leaving an infant behind, who ended up being himawari.
'since then, custody fell upon this cold blooded man, who has casted me aside too, his baby girl...
so i was raised by the wind rocking my cradle...
i mean the workers of this orphanage. what's this dirtbag of a commander doing throwing his responsibilities aside? gang banging, yeah i know i was being sarcastic. some family...'
but leaving a baby like himawari here, where he basically had all of the dedicated workers killed, where there's no supervision, nor any funds to support it...
'ugh... since hearing that story for the first time i've been having nightmares every night.'
but what scares her more than those damn nightmares...
is the gang leader that she's never even met yet.
'even being born with a legal guardian i didn't get so lucky...'
what if he suddenly goes cuckoo again and orders his loyal dog to kill her? like how the og workers were killed by that bitch and replaced with these shabby careless ones, or even worse if he decides to take matters into his own hands and ends it all himself.
'i should think of something else. i'm scaring myself.'
she abruptly stopped her pessimism.
"uaang."
in her previous life, the doctor assigned to monitor her had given her a random name that he found in his contacts, but in this life, her birth mother had named her herself.

'such an extravagant name for an 'outcast' princess like me.'
a/n: when ur existence is just unironically a joke.
it's the same name as the ill-fated princess in the angst fanfic 'sunflower child'.
putting two and two together, anyone ranging from an imbecile to a genius can deduce that hisako meant for her child to live a long life filled with unconditional love, as the flower itself symbolises, in mikey's care.
unfortunately the himawari from the fanfic faces a tragic death at the early age of 12.
'by her father the leader himself, no less!'
a/n: or was it him? idk tbh. ๐
'why do i keep thinking about it?! this isn't good...'
she perspired apprehensively face turning blue as she imagined a dark impulsivity ghost hovering above her.
slam
'huh?!'
the door to her room slammed open as three of the undedicated workers barged in scaring the living shit out of himawari, she thought it was her father who decided to execute his murder plan earlier but luckily she worried for nought.
a/n: no more constipation for her, get it ig.
"hm? she's still not asleep?"
the three surrounded her and gazed down at the infant's conscious figure.
"do we really need to be here? she can't move on her own anyway."
one desperately tried to justify so her lazy ass could go have her nap or whatever.
"you know how fussy kakucho-san is. so much trouble, that one."
another refuted afraid of getting sacked.
"think of this as taking a break."
"what if she starts crying?"
"rock her cradle, so she'll fall asleep faster."
'aah, this again. let's not take it out on me, ladies, we're all stuck here in this orphanage together.'
people would think himawari's such a crybaby if they were to overhear the way they spoke about her, but she was in fact the most docile and compliant baby ever, very contradictory to her legal father when he was of her age.
'kaku even worries that i don't cry enough, too'
the 'king' never came to see her, so we can suppose they're all belittling her as an 'outcast'.
'am i resentful?
no way!'
himawari had already established her life goal mentally, which is to remain as the forgotten child, out of her father's sight for as long as she can.
'i'd be set for life if i run off with some of the newly bought designer items from this room. so please, forget me.'
"the commander doesn't even think of her but lately she's been surrounded by such elegant goods. what a life!"
'yep.'
this is a place overlooked by an anonymous gang member, so she does get three meals a day, recently got a nicer, more cozy bed. no matter how bad she got it, it's still the life of an unofficial princess.
'i'm going to grow big and strong, steal some of the goods, and run off.'
himawari huffed with flushed chubby cheeks as her brows furrowed with determination, albeit looking adorable and round like a dumpling, her periwinkle hues glimmered with what was definitely firm resolution at the remembrance of kaku smiling angelically as he capped his hands gently and encouraged her,
"eat your meals, exercise and grow big and strong, princess."
'i should get out of this crib first.'
himawari reasoned as she stretched her arms about.
"we're nothing but candles in the wind. we'd be dead with a snap of his fingers..."
"yeah, why did we have to be the ones assigned here... did you hear about that ghost coming out of the kitchen every night?"
"it creeps, me out. who knows when we might end up like that, too?"
they all whispered fearfully with hesitant faces.
'yep. i don't want to live in a place like this, either. the moment i gather enough money to escape with, i'm outta here!'
she clenched her stubby fist to give strength to her unrealistic ambition.
"ehehe."
lilac hues glimmered with adoration as she gazed at one of the only things in life that made her regular heartbeat quiver into a state of convulsion. the aura around her sparkled and bloomed comical flowers as her face flushed at the ethereal sight of the only lover she needed.
kakucho's holzkern supernova padauk and marble watch from the night sky collection, yes, that was currently, the love of her life.
a/n: i didn't want to find a watch too expensive considering his age but yh. it's worth 53376.75 japanese yen. so ยฃ329. if u don't like it, imagine smth else i ain't a watch expert it was just one of the first things that popped up do yh.
"do you like it that much?" kakucho teased her as he held the watch with his left hand slightly out of himawari's reach, his right hand was occupied with holding her safely upright. the buzz-cut boy's cheeks dusted rose as he assimilated the delightful sight of her trying to desperately reach the shimmering object.
"oah!"
himawari gurgled as her hands repeatedly did a grabbing motion towards the expensive item, eliciting a deep yet alluring chuckle from the entertained man.
'come to mama, you sweet sweet future stack of money!'
himawari began to giggle endearingly as she affectionately rubbed her plump cheek against kakucho's, successfully catching his rhythmic heart rate off guard and sending it plummeting haywire.
without self control, he nuzzled his nose into her temple and fondly pecked her mochi like cheek, allowing himawari to triumphantly obtain the expensive watch from kakucho, who had leaned closer and had completely forgot about the accessory when he embraced the child with both of his hands like there was no tomorrow.
a floral background painted the scene behind them, enhancing the wholesome moment as himawari tittered at the display of benevolence, and of course, at the sight of the 'future stack of money' safe and secure, in her plump hands.
"once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens, and from this small drop of sun grew a magic golden flower. it had the ability to heal the sick and injured."
kakucho sat on the only sofa in the room as himawari sat, perched up, comfortably on his lap.
a fluffy blanket on top of their legs as kakucho held a somewhat shelf worn book that had bumped corners. some pages were dog eared and annotated with smudged ink. and the hard cover had more than tiny but still moderate edge chips and a bit of a faded spine.
'a golden flower..!'
himawari's face sparkled attentively as kakucho sighed pleasantly at how the lignin present in the wood-based paper granted the book a faint vanilla scent of the years of use.
he reminisced his childhood, the memories he was fond of, and his present life of solitary. though having himawari with him did bring him a sense of comfort, he truly did miss those he made memories with during his youth.
"centuries passed and there grew a kingdom. the kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen. and the queen, well she was about to have a baby. but she got sick, really sick, she was running out of time and that's when the subjects started to look for a miracle, or in this case a magic golden flower. and after a duration of hardship, they had finally found it."
"err!"
she pointed excitedly at the nebulously visible illustration of a golden flower. the sun peeked through the lace curtains and illuminated a floral patterned shadow over them. the sun's beam intensifying her pastel shaded hues of violet that gleamed like cabochons.
"the sun's gift that acted as a curative for the ailing monarch and the magic of the golden flower healed the queen, and a baby girl, a princess was born with ethereal golden jewelled eyes."
"when the princess was born... the balance of the family blood line was altered..."
kakucho trailed off as he flicked the next page delicately in fear of the feeble sheet being torn again.
'hmm?'
himawari pondered as she gazed at next page, it was obviously torn, any fool can see that, but what was stranger was that some arbitrarily paper was duct taped onto it. albeit horribly.
kakucho's smile was solemn with dread as he gazed at it.
'...a curse was formed after the manifestation of the jewelled eyes that was passed down to the first born women of the family, it consisted of a short life span which dictated that the child wouldn't live much longer than the age of 30.'
he recited inwardly from memory, the last passage of the story. ruminating of the quarrel that took place between the partners due to that last sentence.
"oo dis?"
himawari pointed at the picture that was horrendously glued onto that last duct taped, peculiar page, effectively snapping kakucho out of his reverie.
"oh, do you recognise who he is?"
kakucho grinned as he reminisced the bittersweet time his previous king stuck that image onto the book, whilst saying something about how it was to keep track of any foes or allies. anyway, this one was definitely deemed as an enemy in his eyes.
'nope.'
she stared perplexedly at the image of a young boy.
"yes, that's right. it's your lawful father as a child, princess."
kakucho suddenly dropped the bomb shell everyone's been waiting for.
'what?! that damned bloke who left his responsibilities and is out there doing god knows what?'
"bee baa! eeeya!"
translation: bastard! trash!
she babbled as she repeatedly swung her palm directly onto the image's face with furrowed brows, unbeknownst to how hard kakucho tried to treat it with care, though he didn't seem to mind, it was amusing to watch her throw a mini tantrum after all.
"my, my, our sweet princess is definitely a smart kid."
kakucho chuckled at the display in front of him and he softly rubbed her head, ruffling up the small tuff of black hair, someone would definitely be proud, his chest rumbled with pride.
the one who is to be the future leader of bonten... was seen as some hero who would shape the new era for delinquents, the one defeated the invincible enemies before him.
this scumbag who ran away from his responsibilities and left his daughter out here, this guy who is soon to commit an uncountable number of crimes is portrayed like some kind of great heroic king that would bring good for both the innocent and the delinquents.
she glared with rage at the book that seemed to be laughing at her cruel demise.
"that reminds me, i've never told you his name. would you look at the picture again?"
kakucho questioned kindly with a small smile on his face as he pointed towards the worn out photo.
'i'm not curious! what is there for me to know about that dirtbag?!'
himawari frowned like a gremlin at the stupid book.
"by law, your father, sano 'mikey' manjiro."
and just like that, the picture almost began to focus and she could clearly make out his striking features. his face was not smiling nor was it frowning, but it was between neutral. nonetheless, he still looked striking. tousled, pale blond hair framed his face, but what caught her attention the most was the dark pool of abyss in his obsidian eyes that bore her in to stare absentmindedly at his captivating face.
he was a handsome being there was no
