It happened so fast Lily didn't realize it. But it felt so good and so right that she didn't want to pull away.
Draco's lips tasted right against hers; they were so soft and tasted like fire whiskey and apples. Apples.
Probably from the candy he had bought the very same day.
But why did it feel like a mistake? When they pulled away, not only her eyes were wide in realization, but his also.
And the next thing she knew she was running through the crowd, trying to reach the corridor that lead to her dorm.
'Lily!' she heard Draco call after her, but she couldn't stop, not even for the fact that her name, said by him was doing things to her she didn't understand.
She slammed the door to the dorm shut, falling slowly onto the floor and resting her back against the oak wood of it.
Something like that wasn't supposed to happen, ever; even if Lily grew attached to Draco, she knew it wasn't right. He hated her for all his life and all the way around, they were like fire and water, only ashes would came out of them.
After a few moments of the realization sinking in, Lily got up from the floor and rushed to the bathroom.
Why did she wanted to dress as a vampire, it was almost impossible that he would dress as something else. Still, when her eyes landed on his, her whole world stopped.
Water ran down her back as she decided to take a shower to wash off her makeup. The fake vampire bite disappeared in seconds as Lily rubbed with soap at her skin.
The steam made the mirror blurry so she ran a hand over it, seeing herself in the clear spot. Her hair was falling wet on her back and the towel didn't show anything Lily cared about so she walked out of the bathroom.
As soon as her hair was dry and she put on her pajamas, the redhead jumped under the protection of her blankets, letting sleep take her away.
The next couple of weeks Draco tried desperately to have a talk with Lily about what happened, but it seemed that her friends were glued to her side.
Lily indeed didn't leave Ron and Hermione alone for any second because she didn't want to embrace the awkwardness of what happened. The pair didn't find out about her mistake as no one really paid attention when it happened and no rumors were launched.
She even had no problem with her best friends' displays of attention as she would just get a book and bury herself in it, even if it was about something boring like History of Magic.
The blonde was desperate to get any reaction from her; after all Lily meant something to Draco ever since he saw her in Madam Malkin's shop. To have her return his feelings would be something unbelievable, then why didn't she want to talk to him?
It was a fine Saturday morning of November; only the wind could be described as lethal when it hit your face and left with an icy sensation. The Quidditch game between Gryffindor and Slytherin was set in a few hours and despite that, Lily couldn't get out of bed.
Draco would play against her housemates, it was hard to think about even getting out of bed and seeing him after that much time.
'Aren't you going to get up? Everyone left for breakfast already,' Hermione's voice came from the corridor that led to the common room.
Lily stood up in her bed and looked at her bushy haired best friend through the curtains.
'I don't know, Mione, I don't feel like going to the match,' the redhead muttered and fell back onto her pillows, only to have Hermione drawing the curtains, letting the sun light getting in.
'But you love Quidditch! Even if you are not on the team anymore,' Hermione sighed and sat on the bed. 'Something has happened with you, Lils, are you okay?'
Lily studied her best friend for a moment, thinking wether to tell her the truth or not, but as she opened her mouth, no words came.
'Is it the nightmares, are they worse?'
'No,' Lily said quietly.
It was true, her nightmares had stopped since Halloween and Lily couldn't figure out what had happened that they've gone away. She was glad she didn't see anyone dying in her dreams anymore, but it was still a mystery as to why they did stop.
'Then? What's wrong?' Hermione asked with concern and Lily stood up, forcing herself to smile.
'I'm alright, Mione, just a bit stressed.'
'Oh, sorry, I didn't think about that,' Hermione sent her an apologetic look and this time Lily's smile was genuine.
'I'll come, I need a break from this whole of stress and misery anyway.'
'Do you want me to wait for you here or?'
'You can go to breakfast, Mione,' Lily said as she searched for her Quidditch jumper and clothes into her trunk, 'I'm going to be okay, see you soon.'
Hermione gave her a smile and waved as she left. The redhead sighed and started dressing.
Her Quidditch Gryffindor jumper with her initials, a scarlet coat and her Gryffindor scarf all showed her Gryffindor pride.
She tied a bow on her hand with the ribbon she used to put her hair into a ponytail during Quidditch matches.
Lily felt a bit sad at the thought that she weren't the one to search the horizon for the little gold ball of victory, but also glad as playing against him wasn't the greatest idea.
The girl walked out of her dorm slightly careless as she tried to put her wand in the pocket of her coat.
Not being able to see anything, on her way she bumped into someone who caught her shoulders, in the same manner he did last time, not to let her fall.
Lily felt her cheeks burning as she looked up to meet his smoky grey eyes.
'Sorry,' Lily muttered, wishing she hadn't looked up as she jus grew more nervous with his gaze set on her face.
'No problem, Potter, you okay?' Draco asked with one of his brows raised.
Lily took in his appearance before replying; he had his Slytherin jumper on and a pair of black jeans, his hair was combed to the side, a few strands falling out of place.
'Yes, just going to breakfast.'
'May I join you?' the question caught her so off guard that she nearly showed her shocked expression.
'Of course.'
It was certainly an interesting view; a lion and a snake walking side by side, both showing their pride. Lily grew comfortable with his presence, even if they had to talk about their actions at the party. Draco didn't seem bothered by it anyway, so she told herself it was better not to bring it up.
'So what do you think? Is my team going to destroy yours today?' Draco said with a grin and Lily rolled her eyes.
'In your dreams, Malfoy.'
'Well they don't have their good seeker playing, but I am,' his pride didn't wore off as they descended the last set of stairs.
'I've seen them play, they certainly can beat your ass without me on the team.'
'Well, when you were on the team I had some good competition,' he grinned one last time and walked to the Slytherin table as they had just entered the Great Hall.
'Git,' Lily muttered under her breath and approached her best friends.
The weather turned from icy wind to heavy drops of rain while the trio was on their way to the stands, causing Lily, who seemed the only one who thought about bringing a wand, to use the umbrella charm to shield them.
However, as the match began, Hermione had to take the wand from the shouting redhead, as she got really excited with the match and approached the ledge.
It was quite funny to watch the match with Lily having her own comments and also soaking wet because she was standing in the rain.
Draco watched his fellow teammates fighting the rain and trying to snatch the quaffle from Ginny Weasley who was flying with the speed of light, scoring yet another goal.
The blonde scoffed and searched the grey sky for the Snitch, trying to get the water out of his eyes.
And his eyes fell on her. He saw her shouting like a lunatic in the direction of her housemates and she didn't seem to be bothered by the rain one bit. Lily Potter was someone Draco Malfoy sometimes couldn't understand, that's why he didn't mention the kiss to her before the match, knowing that a few moments alone with the redhead could lift his spirits up.
The Gryffindor seeker suddenly began flying at top speed and Draco saw the little golden ball he was after. The blonde started racing after him, joining his side in seconds.
The Gryffindor were in the lead with only 30 points so if he caught the Snitch, he could win for Slytherin.
Both Draco and the Gryffindor seeker, a short boy with dark hair, stretched their hands towards the ball, that took a sudden turn.
Draco did not realize that he was flying right to the stands until it was too late. He collided with something, knocking off multiple people.
He rolled off the person (he realized it was a person he collided with) and landed on his back on the stands, scratching his neck furiously.
'Well I mean I knew you would be upset Gryffindor would win,' a voice said over the cheers of the crowd and Draco looked beside him to see a happy Lily standing up, 'but I didn't think you would want to injure an ex-seeker to have revenge.'
'I didn't realize what was happening and you're soaking wet, Potter, did you know that?' Draco teased, earning a few chuckles from the redhead.
'Come on, you,' Lily offered a hand to the blonde which he took and she helped him up.
'Congratulations, I guess,' Draco muttered and realized that Lily didn't let go of his hand.
They looked at each other for several minutes; it seemed like they were the only ones left in the world.
Ron calling Lily's name snapped both of them out of the daze and Lily let her hand fall to the side.
'You didn't play bad either, you know,' Lily smiled and after a few more seconds of looking at each other, the girl headed to the direction of her best friends that were urging her to get under their silver umbrella.
It wasn't totally a loss for the blonde after all.
