Draco gazed at his reflection in the mirror, his attire complete. He didn't expect anyone to have the same idea as him with his costume as no one would dare to ever be like him. The long robe that was hugging his body was black like spilled ink, the collar of it reaching just a few millimeters under his jaw line.
He didn't button it so anyone could see clearly that underneath was a white shirt that had huge red spots one could think it was blood; except it was just some red ink that cursed one of his favorite shirts forever. The sleeves of his robe were rolled slightly, but not rolled enough to show his dark mark. The shirt was tucked into his also black like spilled ink jeans.
One of the silver rings he inherited from his father, with the large M crest of the Malfoys carved on it was on his index finger.
His face was pale, who was he joking? His entire skin was pale as to make it obvious what creature he was. Two fake red circles were painted on his neck, another part of his outfit.
His blonde hair was gelled back, only one lonely strand of it hanging loosely on his forehead.
'Man you must be ready, feels like you were in there for days!' he heard Blaise's voice and with a scoff he opened the bathroom door to reveal his best friend, dressed like a pirate.
'Whoah mate,' Theo, that was dressed as a zombie, said, emerging from behind his bed. 'You're gonna be king tonight.'
They weren't aware that a few dorms away, a redheaded girl emerged from the bathroom, leaving the other girls speechless.
'Lils!' Hermione exclaimed, jumping up and down with excitement as she saw her best friend emerging from the bathroom.
As far as she was aware, no one could be as classy and beautiful as Lily Motherfucking Potter when it came to style. She always managed to dress exceptionally, no matter on what occasion; Merlin she had style even when she finished Voldemort off.
The other girl, especially Artemis (she was Will's first girlfriend) were watching with envy as the redhead had added the finishing touches to her dress robes.
'I love your costume, Mione,' Lily said with a bright smile that didn't really suit her attire, but the bushy haired girl smiled back at her widely.
She was dressed in a Victorian style as Hermione decided she would be a high lady from the 1800s; her hair was put into an elegant bun that Lily helped her with, and a tiara was around it. Her pastel pink dress had a V shaped neck and pink lace all over it. Lily usually despised anything pink, but it just looked amazing on Hermione.
'Well no one will want a victorian lady for a girlfriend when they'll all see you walk in,' Lily could see all the other girls roll their eyes at Hermione's comment even if she was turned around.
'You have a boyfriend, good Godric! But thank you, Mione, honestly is nothing' Lily said with a warm smile as she looked in the mirror one more time to make sure everything was alright.
'Are you joking?' Hermione's eyes grew wide with excitement. 'You are going to be queen tonight!'
Lily followed after her best friend as they made their way into the party; as promised they found Ron over by the drinks table, sipping on fire whiskey. His costume was matching Hermione's, he was wearing also a Victorian inspired suit, just like kings and princes used to.
'My lovely, lady,' he said, bowing dramatically and kissing Hermione's hand; the girl blushed crimson as he looked at her. 'And you, Lils, whoah.'
Ron's eyes grew wide as he looked at Lily. The redhead folded her arms over her chest, raising one of her red brows. 'What?'
'I'll kill anyone who'll come near you two, tonight,' he muttered under his breath and the girls rolled their eyes.
'Ronald, maybe I am your spiritual sister, but you cannot tell me what to do,' Lily grinned and walked away from the lovebirds, moving to the rhythm of alleyways-the neighbourhood.
Music, that was all she cared about as she walked through the crowd, sharing greetings there and there.
'Lils!' she heard someone exclaim and she turned on her heels to see Ginny calling for her.
'This one,' Lily laughed as she reached Ginny, Neville and Luna, pointing at the boy who was dressed as a muggle teacher. 'Snuck you into the party, didn't he?'
'Well what do you think?' Ginny grinned and the redhead took a moment to scan her blue fairy costume, whilst Luna was dressed in a matching one, but pink.
'You look lovely, Lily,' Luna said kindly and Lily raised a brow, her appearance was meant to be a bit terrifying, but she didn't make any sorts of comments as she appreciated the compliment.
'Thank you, Luna, so do you, and you two as well, I love your outfits,' she smiled just as Ginny grabbed her arm and made her dance.
'Where are Ron and Hermione?' Neville asked curiously, looking around for the pair.
'Well I don't think it would be the best idea to tell you,' Lily joked and winked at Neville who made a disgusting face and took Luna in for a dance.
Lily felt her feet hurting in minutes as the high heels she was wearing might not have been the best decision for the party.
Ginny didn't let go of Lily for most of the night as the redheads danced like lunatics on the songs that Lily chose.
She was, however saved by Ron and Hermione who appeared at their side with their hair messy and their cheeks rosy, Ron's ears completely crimson.
Lily breathed in relief when Ginny took Ron and Hermione to her chaotic dance and she could escape their little group, sneaking away to the drinks table.
This time she decided not to let her guard down, so it was the first time that night she grabbed a glass of wine and sipped thankfully on it.
On the other part of the room, Pansy was boring Draco to death with her childhood stories and how everything she wanted was at her feet in mere seconds. Daphne Greengrass was hanging to her every word, even tho her childhood had been the same. Every rich family of purebloods were spoiling their children so Draco knew perfectly how that was; that was another reason to be bored to death.
Theodore Nott appeared from nowhere, falling next to Draco on the sofa, the green paint he used for his face nearly cleaned off by sweat. Theo was known amongst the group by being the dancer, so it was natural to see him full of sweat and with his shirt not buttoned all the way to his neck.
Blaise emerged from the crowd of eight years as well, a frown on his face.
'Thank you, mate, for leaving me with this one, he might have danced his shoes off if I didn't request a break,' the black wizard scoffed and sat on an arm chair.
'Blaisieee, don't lie, you love dancing,' Nott said with a smug smile in his face, reaching for a glass of firewiskey that was on a table near them.
'How drunk is he?' Draco questioned, raising one of his blonde brows.
'Very,' Blaise said simply, eying some Ravenclaw girl that was walking past them.
'I might just escape this group of tired people and actually have some fun,' Draco mumbled as he got up and was lost into the crowd in seconds.
He didn't realize he was looking for her until she came into his line of sight. One look at Lily Potter left him breathless and he couldn't help, but stare at her.
He could only describe her as perfect. Her red hair was gelled back, the rest falling straight on her back. Her skin tone was somehow blended with the white powder she used to make herself paler, the intense red lipstick being the most crucial detail of her makeup. He observed two little circles on her neck, some fake blood also applied on the same spot to make it look like marks of fangs. And then started her dress robes of a stunning really dark scarlet. Her collar and long sleeves were made out of a combination of crimson and white lace. Her V shaped neck wasn't showing too much, too little either; a silver necklace was around her neck, a rose at the end of it.
The dress robes were ending in the front just above her knees, revealing her black heels; in the back the scarlet material was ending on the floor, looking like some sort of a cape.
She was beautiful.
And oh boy she was dressed as a vampire, just like him.
Lily wore a bright smile as she approached him, or it would be better if he said she danced her way to him.
'Looks like we match,' she laughed, stopping in front of him, her emerald green eyes sparkling with perhaps, excitement?
'Yes, it looks like so,' Draco gave her his devilish grin. 'Tell me you are not drunk this time.'
'No, this time I've drank only a glass of wine, dancing with Ginny Weasley would drain you off of energy too.'
'Good girl,' he leaned closer and whispered into her ear, leaving the girl to blush scarlet. She wore a rather amused expression when he pulled away.
'Well, dancing with Theodore Nott would be the same, Blaise looked like he could use a drink as well,' Draco chuckled, continuing their conversation as he didn't say anything.
'Well I might use another dance partner, where is he?' Lily teased, laughter slightly when the blonde rolled his eyes.
'Dance with me, vampire,' he said with a grin on his face.
'Well how could I refuse a fellow vampire?'
Little talks by of monsters and men came on and Lily placed shyly a hand on Draco's shoulder and the other one in his left hand.
I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
'How do you dance on this thing?' Draco questioned as the first words came up.
'Follow my steps.'
The stairs creak as I sleep
It's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
It started as a slow dance, until the higher notes came and Draco felt himself being dragged into a weird yet amusing dance by the redhead.
Draco found himself losing his breath in her presence. Draco Malfoy was always in love with the redhead he was spinning around, her laugh music to his ears. And now that their friendship was rather better than before, would he risk acting in his feelings and making her hate him again?
You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you
At this point their dance moves were slow again, adapting to the song.
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart
There's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
They were so close that their chests touched; Draco felt her hot breath on his cheek.
Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep
As just as the fast tune came back, something he didn't think would happen in a million years surprised him.
He felt a set of soft and foreign lips on his and he kissed back.
