Being back at Hogwarts, the Weasley siblings, Lily and Hermione said goodbye to professor Blossom as they exited his office, still coughing ash from travelling with Floo-powder.

Lily clutched her bag with her two hands, not really listening to Ron and Hermione's conversation, her thoughts quite messy; Ginny had already disappeared off to the Gryffindor tower whilst the three made their way to the 8th years common room.

"Lily, were you listening?" Hermione asked as the redhead bumped into her.

"Uh, not really?"

Ron chuckled, earning a glare from his girlfriend before she turned to Lily. "I was talking about the fact that we have to start our graduation projects. The professors will probably hand out our assignments soon."

Lily blinked. "Graduation projects?"

"Have you not listened to anything McGonagall said first Transfiguration class back at Hogwarts?"

"To be fair Hermione, the first month of classes is a total blur to me."

The bushy haired girl sighed, looping her arm through Lily's. "This calls for an intense studying session then."

Ron groaned. "You'll be sending us straight to our graves that way."

"Stop being dramatic, Ronald."

The common room was lively, many of the 8th years already home from break. There were still a few mission though, set to arrive on the first day of classes. Lily sighed in relief, ready to claim a spot on the soft couches as the three entered, only they were occupied by the Slytherin gang.

Theodore Nott was snoring away, his head in Pansy's lap as she talked to Blaise who was stuck sitting on the sofa's armrest. Draco was just walking towards them, stopping in his tracks as he noticed the trio.

Hermione raised a brow, looking towards Ron. "We get changed and go to lunch?"

The redhead nodded, being dragged away by his girlfriend towards the dorms; as Lily followed, the blonde called her name, stopping her in her tracks.

"Back already, Potter?" he asked, standing a few steps away from her.

Lily clutched the strap of her bag that hung on her shoulder. "Would've liked me storming in Potions first thing tomorrow morning, Malfoy?"

"Would've been a funny sight."

"Why don't you do it after the next break?"

"Wouldn't like to steal your spotlight, Potter."

"I gather you've had a good break if you're in such high spirits," the redhead crossed her arms, looking up at him as he stepped closer.

His expression sobered up a little, but that might've not been visible if Lily wasn't so focused on him.

"It was actually pretty chaotic I might say," he was so close he had to lean down to whisper something in her ear. "Especially because you weren't getting out of my head, Potter and that's concerning."

"Oi, Malfoy! You coming?" Blaise yelled from the sofa before Sara could say anything.

Draco stepped back, a weird glint in his gray eyes before he joined his friends. Lily remained rooted to place, staring after him.

"Welcome back, Potter. You okay?" Seamus snapped her out of her reverie, causing her to look around the room in a panic.

"Spectacular," she replied dumbly before sprinting towards the corridor that led to the girl's dorms.

"What's up, Lils?" Hermione asked as soon as the redhead stormed inside, throwing her bag on her trunk. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

"I'm hungry," she breathed as she got rid of her coat and fumbled for Sirius' old leather jacket. "Let's go get Ron and have lunch."

Hermione raised a brow at her best friend but didn't question it; maybe she was just growing an appetite since moving in with the Weasleys.

.

The first day of the second term went fairly well in Lily's opinion; she walked towards the library, studying the piece of parchment she received with her graduation assignments. It was said that succeeding in their tasks would earn them a special honor, perfect for them when they would apply for jobs in the future.

Knowing the path by heart, Lily made her way inside Madam Pince's library, wandering around until sitting at an empty table. For Potions and Herbology she needed permission from her professors to start the projects since they were mostly practical, but since her other subjects had theoretical parts to go over she would start with those first and the library had everything she needed.

Leaving her stuff on the table, the redhead walked along the bookshelves, studying the titles from multiple book spines, looking for the big authors that had what she needed for her Transfiguration project.

Before she could reach her hand to grab a copy of Theories of Transubtantial Transfiguration, it was pulled from the other part of the bookshelf. Two gray eyes wound up staring at her through the hole, making Lily's heart quicken up its pace.

His steps echoed through the silent library, matching the beat of her traitorous heart, making her head spin. She was still staring through the empty shell space when the book she wanted appeared in front of her eyes.

"There's like other copies of that in here," Lily muttered, getting the book out of his grip as she spun around to look at him.

Draco was leaning against the shelf, misty eyes making her cheeks burn in seconds. Something inside of Lily went feral, running through her veins and making all of the air go out of her lugs. It was weird now, being around him, especially with all of the realizations she had during the holidays.

He wasn't Will, he would never be Will.

That made him special in his own way, but Lily couldn't help but feel wary around Draco Malfoy. Years of bullying and horrible remarks didn't go unnoticed, people didn't change overnight, feelings weren't always certain.

But whoever stood in front of her, wasn't really the silver boy that used to taunt her all day long.

There was somebody else she couldn't really figure out.

"I don't even need that particular book," he replied in a whisper, somehow having moved closer to her in the matter of seconds her mind was spiraling.

"What are you doing here then, Draco?" his name rolled off tongue easily, like she'd spoken it so many times before, like it was her favorite word to say.

He leaned closer, his cool breath falling on her exposed neck, making goosebumps sprout all over her skin. What surprised her the most was the tender kiss he left just bellow her ear, his mouth turning into a mischievous smile upon her skin.

"You've yet to give me any explanation, why should I give you mine?" he whispered in her ear and her heart felt like it was about to burst through her chest.

"You're confusing me."

"And you don't think you're doing the same? I don't think what it is to you, but the next time you kiss me, you won't escape me that easily."

Draco tucked one strand of her red hair behind her ear, his gaze upon Lily's face one she had never seen before. He smiled slightly, giving even more to the mystery of their interaction.

"I'll warn you now, before it is too late, Lily. You either stay away, or you'll be dragged into the abyss with me,"

Without so much as another word, Draco left, his steps echoing behind her as Lily remained rooted to place, the Transfiguration book hugged tightly to her chest.

The story with Draco Malfoy looked far from finished.

It actually looked like it just begun.
