Y/N's POV:
I was aroused by an aggressive shaking, the first thought I had was a possible earthquake. Although I wasn't greeted by your usual earthquake, I was met with Ei trying to wake me up.
"What..?" I whined, definitely not a morning person. Using the palms of my hands I hoisted myself up, leaning against the bed frame.
"We have an important meeting to attend, I don't want either of us to be late" She walked around towards the entrance of our room, before I sprang out of bed in desperation. I heard our bedroom door close almost silently as I struggled to get dressed in my somewhat formal attire, Ei was waiting for me beyond the corridor.
"Can we please stop for some breakfast at least?" I asked, before being enthusiastically teleported away from the kitchen. I found it odd that we were in such a rush at the later morning, most meetings are usually at 7am or earlier, currently it's 10am. But instead this was not a meeting, rather an appealing gesture.
Ei's teleportation streak has finally ended and we arrived at.. a botanical shop?
"I think you have the wrong place, the meeting room is over there." I gestured with my eyes, we're guaranteed late by this irrelevant stop.
"I know, now come along." She waved for me to follow her, and that's what I did. Sometimes I forget how it is complicated walking in high heels, my feet ache.
Entering the shop was a plant heaven, everything I could ever want, within my grasp.
"You can pick out as many you'd like, whatever sticks out to you." Ei offered, getting out her wallet to see how much coinage she brought along.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" I said very enthusiastic, giving her slight kiss on the cheek.
"But why? Do you think we need greenery in the house?" I asked quietly, I felt awfully foolish in such fancy clothing to end up attending a plant shop.
"Do you not remember?" She looked at me with a suspicious look, was I missing something? Another time my memory has failed me.
"I genuinely don't, is it something to do with the past? You know that only within recent years has my past memories been put to use. Wait..." My voice trailed off, what was today? I stood there pondering for a few moments, pacing around.
"Is it because of my birthday?" I asked, looking back up at Ei and her silent stare.
"You're telling me I know when your birthday is, but you don't know your own?" She put a heavy emphasis on 'your birthday' and 'you', additionally giggling at my inconvenience.
"I've had thousands of birthdays, I've far exceeded the amount of mortal birthdays. They're mostly celebrated as simple days, so it's kinda loss importance to me." I admitted, and this was true. The amount of birthdays I've had since I've been created was far too many, I believe I've had more than three thousand birthdays, I wish I was exaggerating. Gods I'm old.
"Well, why don't we celebrate all of them today." Ei smiled before encouraging me to look around, pushing me ever so slightly.
The walls and ceiling were covered with plants, from dendrobium to otogi trees, potted flowers to hanging vines, shades of blues and pinks and greens. A plant emporium, the heaven of leaves, flocks of flowers. I roamed around the greenery, brushing leaves of different plants with my soft fingers. Ei was wondering around herself, as enthusiastic as Ei can be about plants. Although her facial expressions have spread across and softened her face, she still looks as bland as stone.
"Found any plants interesting?" I popped my head up to look over Ei's shoulder, trying to get a glimpse of her view.
"What plant is this?" She pointed at a small white flower with long white petals, I knew this species from my travels in Mondstadt.
"That's a windwheel aster, it's a common flower in Mondstadt. You may've heard of it before, it's quite popular with Inazuman folk."
After my indecisiveness, I finally settled with a Maple Bonsai. Maples have bright orange leaves & have a mild wood color, you'll find them all over Ritou. I placed the dwarf tree at the register as Ei counted her mora, sliding it across the counter. Our payment was happily accepted and we were on our way back home, for now anyway.
Placing down that bonsai tree was a relief, my poor arms were about to break. I addictively kept rotating the pot ever so slightly to get the perfect angle, I could hear the scratching of pot against the wooden table.
"Perfect, now I really want to change out of these fancy clothes.." I toddled off to our room and changed into my casual clothing, never again will I ever wear high heels in a plant shop.
I opened my door slightly, looking out into the living room. I spilled out of the door and looked for her figure, unfortunately the Tensukaku was but a hallow world. With Ei's sudden disappearance, I had to keep myself occupied. This was something I was not good at, as I continuously paced around our home.
After an hour long nap, and a sweep of the entire house, I could hear Ei's footsteps down the hallway. Without much thought over my tone, I asked a simple question.
"Where did you go?" I looked over my arm which was currently sorting things in our tiny broom closet, because I'm the one who cleans in this relationship.
"I had to check up on something, as my duty of the god of Inazuma. Did I not inform you I was leaving? My apologies." She bowed her head ever so slightly, as if I were a goddess of sorts. Some sort of privilege to look at, a true pleasure.
"No it's okay. I understand," I dispersed from the closet and gave her a peck on the cheek. "you're a very busy person. I just wanted to make sure you were't held hostage or kidnapped, you've heard of what happened at Mondstadt." I brushed off her shoulders, being only an inch shorter than the Raiden Shogun was finally paying off.
"I just want you to be safe, alright? As your wife, it is my duty to make sure you're okay." I looked at her in the eyes this time, studying her expression like an open textbook. I saw a little smile come across her face, as if she looked satisfied or happy. I fixed her head piece and readjusted the flower, nudging it a smidge to the right.
"They'd have to capture me before they could even get to you." I giggled, ahh the irony.
"I ummm, I bought you.. something." She struggled to get the words out, and instead handed me something. I took a good look at it, before taking off the decorative fluffy bow. It was a kimono, a real kimono. From that textiles shop that's been around for thousands of years, the one from our childhood. I studied the seems and textures, slowly unfolding it as I followed. After revealing the entire outfit, I could really admire its beauty. The pattern was a hand stitched floral pattern with white thread, and the background being all sorts of blue shades and tones. The obi was a plain and simple white, with a red decorative rope around the waist.
"It truly amazes me that we are one in the same, even after thousands of years. You never seem to forget the small things, even if we were young." I took the kimono out of my view and folded it up again, putting it aside on the table.
I walked up and hugged her, tightly. Embracing her, looking up at her.
"It's as if we share the same brain.." I traced my fingers up her shoulders, and into her hair.
"You know.. I-" Her sentence was soon cut off by my lips, our kiss. A deep & passionate one, we were truest of true, the definition of love and loyalty, the two pieces of one whole.
"I remember things, even from back when. I remember every single detail of every moment, every second. Because I know the one time I don't, that's a second I can't take back."
With little to no effort Ei was already pushing me to put on the kimono, and here I was in our bedroom. The windows were taking the beauty of light and spitting it back out across my body, as the rose colored light touched my skin. Just before I undressed I realized the door was cracked open slightly.
"No peaking!!" I yelled, hearing the door slam closed behind my words. I slipped off my clothing for the third time today, standing beyond the mirror, which helped me put on my kimono correctly. Tying the obi as my final bow, in the stage that was my dressing room. I turned in a circle to admire my formal wear, I could feel my face become the sunshine that peered through the windows.
I slid open the door slightly, and looked out upon to my audience. Ei was peaking out of the room across from ours, my old room. We both came out of hiding at the same time, Ei in her own kimono. Hers was periwinkle with the same floral pattern as mine, done with the same white thread. The only other difference was that her obi was black, but the same red rope was there. The red ropes of fate.
"You forgot to put up your hair appropriately.." She grabbed a ribbon and stepped behind me, tying my hair up in a bun, appropriate for my clothing. I could feel her fingers through my hair, trying to be as gentle as possible. She then placed a rose through the center of my bun oblique to the right.
Turning me around, she kissed my forehead, looking down at me.
"You look absolutely divine, my goddess." She bowed before me.
....
"Are we there yet?" I asked, all I could see was darkness. Ei had escorted me somewhere but had covered my eyes, I could see nothing.
"Almost...now." She removed her fingers from my eyes, revealing the beauty of Inazuma. Except it was more colorful than ever, more bright and joyous.
Ei had organized a festival, a festival in honor of me.
"Are you sure they'll like me?" I asked, turning around to look at her.
"They'll love you, you're the other ruler of Inazuma. Please, allow me lead you across the other world of heaven."
And so she did, Inazuma is my haven and she is my life.
The first stall we stopped at was a prayer plaque stall, there were a few small plaques already hanging from the racks. Small pictures danced across the strings, as I began to think of what I wanted to pray for. But my mind blank, I was already happy with what I have. I have a loving wife, a loving nation, and everything I could ever want at my finger tips. I could see Ei already drawing on her plaque, but I continued to stare at mine.
Then it dawned on me, I don't have to pray for anything. I could pray to keep what I already have.
We both revealed our truly amazing drawing skills to one another, turns out Ei had three plaques..
Ei's first plaque was a drawing of me and her holding hands, with smiles across our faces. Her second was a picture of Inazuma being happy and a content nation. The final plaque was of Makoto, Ei's long gone sister.
"Seems like you have your goals set already, you're ahead of me." I smiled at her, as her face glowed. I handed her my plaque, as she flipped it over twenty times trying to find the drawing.
"It's blank?" She glanced up at me, then back at the plaque.
"That's because I already have everything, there's nothing more I want out of this world. I already have you, I have Inazuma & that's all I need." I stole my empty plaque from Ei and hung it up among the other busy plagues. Tying the red string so tightly as to resemble how much I wanted to keep this. She hung her wishes next to me on the rack, admiring them from afar.
The next stall we went to was a fortune themed stall, where we would place 5 mora and receive a small slip of paper reading out our fortune. This concept was completely new to me, so Ei had to help guide my hand in what to do.
"Slide your mora in this tiny slit in the box, and then your fortune should be read. At least that's what I recall from my last visit to a festival, which was long ago." She slid her own mora into the box and as promised, a small sheet of paper shot out of that tiny box.
"The technology used in this thing is amazing!!" I observed the tiny box, something that shoot something out by just putting in money??
After an embarrassingly long time observing this contraption, I finally slid my money into slot and this magical box did not fail me. I could hear the clinking of coins as I inserted the last one into the slot, taking the tiny paper that was my reward.
"This year-" I began to read out, before Ei interrupted me.
"You can't read it aloud or else it won't come true." She closed my hand with the tiny paper concealed inside. I nodded in understanding, and shoved the piece of paper between my obi and the kimono.
By now the streets were bustling with people, laughter and lights. Ages toddler to elder, you name it. Everyone came out of their homes for this event, if not, they peered through their windows and watched the crowd.
"I still can't believe you did this, all for me? When your birthday comes along, how is one supposed to best this?" I watched her face turn to laughter, holding her chin with her hand. It's as if she were observing me, the comfort and mystery plastered onto my face.
"Now come on, we absolutely must go to my favorite stand!" She began to drag me along with her.
"Your favorite stand? Let me guess it's the dessert stand." I jokingly commented, and I was correct. Ei was already drooling over the dango and mochi, chocolate and cake, anything sweet that she could smell.
"Welcome! I am of most grateful to serve the rulers or Inazuma. What Inazuman delicacy's can I interest you in tonight?" The vendor put their hands together as if to gesture they were prepared for whatever we would order, except they weren't.
"I'll have one of everything, and what would you like my dear?" Ei's response was so quick and rash I almost wasn't prepared for it.
"I'll just have a dango please." My order was very minimalistic compared to Ei's huge order, but hey, it's her money & mouth. I scratched my non-existent dimples and looked at the vendor, their face said enough haha.
"That'll be 3918 mora please, we appreciate your service towards our business."
Luckily we were in no shortage of money, so Ei handed the vendor the specified amount, she looked hesitant but her love for sweets was definitely a financial problem.
After our food was served, we broke away from the crowd and sat in our own consolidated corner. Ei laid all of the sweets in front of us, carefully making sure to not damage the appeal.
"I bought these so we could share... if you wanted too of course.." I could see her face warm up from embarrassment, realizing she didn't really communicate this too me.
"I would love too."
"With your agreement, I'll start with this one.." She hovered her hand around a piece of a chocolate truffle, dividing it in half and devouring her own sweets. Sometimes I think she prefers sweets over me, as much as she denies it.
"You have to try this one, sliding the remaining half piece towards me. I lifted the sweet delicacy and placed it carefully onto my tongue, savoring the sweet and salty caramel taste in the middle. I was surprised such things could come from a small stand in the randomness that is Inazuma, this taste was divine.
"You're right, this one is rather excellent if I do say so myself. I wonder what other mystery's lie amongst this chocolatey goodness." Without much thought I did the same as Ei, divided the piece into two and savored my own slice. Sliding the remaining piece towards Ei. There's this face she makes when she's eating sweets which is absolutely adorable, her eyes are closed and a giant smile consumes her face. I wish you could see it.
"I have one more surprise for you, and it might be your favorite." We had just finished eating up the sweets, right outside of the colorful Inazuman city.
"And what would that be??" I guessed, wondering what else Ei could have planned for tonight.
The Sakura shine.
"This is where our first real date was." I wondered amongst the red buildings and the architectural glory, I could feel the memories here. Not just mine, but other peoples memories. Other peoples happiness, I could feel the emotions of others who had been here before me.
"It's been a few years, but it's as gorgeous as I remember." I walked up to the tree itself, the petals gliding over the cliff, and the various large piles on the floor beneath the tree. I turned one hundred and eighty degrees to see Ei trying to fix her hair.
"It's as if you know my exact desires," I began to return towards Ei, who was standing near the steps of the shrine. "and I hope someday, you'll really understand, how much I love you. So much you can't put it into words, today has been an absolute delight. I wish that my love is enough in return for this amazing gesture." I held out my hand for her, in which she accepted. I guided her to the tree, motioning her to sit down with me.
Her head was in my lap, looking at the sky beyond. Pointing at constellations and occasionally pulling me in for a kiss. And we talked, we sat there and talked. Giggles and sadness, it was all there. Brushing petals and hair out of each other's faces, I couldn't have asked for anything better. I could not possibly have a better partner than the one sitting right here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Miss. Miko? Shouldn't we interrupt them? The shrine closed hours ago."
"Never interrupt emotions, dear. And they, they are the true definition of happiness. Even if their story is told thousands of times, from generation to generation, emotion will be carried through their story with themselves. They were born together, they were raised together, they fought together, they explore feelings together, they got married together. And they'll die along side each other, but they'll live on within the people. They are truly, one of a kind."
