After days of meticulous holiday planning, you were finally ready to enjoy Halloween.
The spooky decorations were hung with about three times the amount of detail than you'd care to admit. The snacks were piled so high, there was no way any sane group of people would be able to finish the entire thing. The entire lodge was painfully spotless, every nook and cranny polished to the very last sparkle, except where the fake cobwebs hung. Jack-o-lanterns sat out on the porch, their warm candlelit mouths glowing eerily. The yard was covered with blow-up figures, from ghosts hanging in the trees, to creepy dolls sitting on the porch. Gravestones lined the walkway, and ending with a huge coffin in the middle, which played organ music. The aforementioned cobwebs were draped across the door and banisters leading inside, with black and purple tinsel along the walls, and fireplace. Fake spiders and rats lurked on the floors, and a life-sized skeleton stood in the corner. A vampire, werewolf, and ghost all stood on different sides of the room.
You had taken meticulous time to plan everything out, room by room, wall by wall. Robin had been generous enough to help you buy all the supplies. Then, all your friends, along with the lodge staff, had worked together to set up. Being an interior designer, Hyunjin was an incredible decorator, and Renee was eager to learn, so they had been put on tinsel and cobweb duty, while Tessa and Minho opted to work outside. As much as they bickered, they worked surprisingly well, building the coffin, and placing the tombstones. Chan, and Riley had gotten to work mixing fun drinks, under JJ's supervision. As the resident fashionista, Alaska got to choose the styling committee for dressing the vampire, werewolf, and skeleton in clothes to match the black and purple theme of the evening. So she, Felix, and Jeongin all worked together. Mya, Han, and Seungmin were pouring and plating the snacks, while Robin wanted to make the best playlist possible for the evening.
That left you and Changbin. And, lo and behold, he had been assigned a secret mission: to keep you away from decorating as much as possible. Or rather, to stop you from helping.
"What do you mean I can't help decorate??" you'd demanded over and over again, feeling extra fiery at the thought of standing there, helpless, all day.
Changbin chuckled at your plight. "Well, it seems that I've gotten a couple of concerns that you're overworking yourself, and need to take a break. And apparently, I'm the best - and only, I might add - person to force you to do that. So we're gonna sit together, and do anything but decorate, okay?"
So, you'd been forced to take a break for the rest of the afternoon of the 30th. And as much as it pained you to admit, it was nice. Spending time with Changbin, having nothing else to do but sit and talk.
It had reinvigorated you for today. Halloween. Finally.
The lodge staff had forced you all to arrive later, and not wait on the other guests like hosts, even though that was what you were. Se Ri had called you nearly a hundred times, making sure you didn't forget a damn thing, or a single person on that guest list. She had been pretty skeptical about the party, not sure if a raucous night at the lodge was the best PR for the clinic. But you'd insisted this would go well. You could do this. And since yesterday, you hadn't heard a word from her. That felt really good.
You, and all your friends arrived at the lodge first, positively buzzing with excitement over how great this evening was going to be.
"I can't believe Halloween is finally here!!" Mya squealed, jumping up and down, squeezing Jeongin's hand. The two had dressed as Prince Phillip and Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, and she looked just the part. With her long pink gown and flowing hair that Alaska had styled for her, she looked like a beautiful princess. Jeongin was handsome, as always, in the black button-up and knight armor that Phillip wore before defeating the dragon. Unlike the princess she was dressed as, Mya was not tired in the slightest, swinging her trick-or-treating bucket around in her free hand. Jeongin held Areum's leash, who was dressed as one of the fairies from Sleeping Beauty.
Everyone finally entered the lodge. A couple of people had already arrived, but you didn't recognize them. Robin had said that she invited every famous person in her contacts list, so maybe you should have known them.
Alaska, Chan, and Felix entered the party, heading for the snacks. They were part of a trio costume, with Chan as Mario, Felix as Luigi, and Alaska as Yoshi. Berry was dresses as Princess Daisy, and Bingsu, who was with Alaska, was Toad. When they'd first appeared, everyone had broken out into uncontrollable snort-laughter, as Alaska paraded in wearing a full-body green dinosaur costume, and Chan and Felix wore those adorably cheesy fake mustaches. The Aussies looked every bit the video game character brothers.
Robin hurried over to say hi to the couple of guests, Han in tow. True to their goofy nature, they were wearing matching french fry and hamburger costumes. Apparently, Han had demanded to be the burger, because he "wanted to know what it was like to be meaty", while Robin liked being a salty french fry. "Just like me!" she'd said proudly, as everyone cackled at their unserious outfit choice. Bbama stood by them, dressed as the cutest little ketchup bottle you'd ever seen.
You and Tessa entered the party together, as you were matching. You'd even dressed Junjie and Jiao as a devil and angel, as well. When Changbin had seen you, his mouth had dropped so far open, you thought his jaw might actually break. His eyes bugged out of his head, and his face turned so red, you couldn't tell if he was breathing or not.
Minho had a similar expression, just more angry. Tessa hadn't even deigned to look at him, and just ran over to hug you, before parading out the door, holding Junjie in her arms. Now, Minho, dressed as his pet cat Soonie, was glowering at Tessa like he was plotting something dangerous.
You hadn't been given a chance to speak with Changbin to hear his reaction, or tell him how you felt about his costume.
While you were dressed to the nines, he had taken a slightly... different route. He and Hyunjin had begged JJ to do a group costume with them, and now you understood why. Sort of. JJ looked stunning in a blue gown, with her hair tied up and those pretty glass slippers on her feet. Of course, she was Cinderella. Hyunjin must have chosen Kkami and Miso to be Prince Charmings, as they were both wearing little suits. That left Hyunjin and Changbin as the two mice, Jaq and Gus. When Changbin walked out wearing a blue hat and yellow t-shirt, you couldn't hold in your giggles, as you clutched Tessa's arm, trying not to cry out of mirth.
"Geez guys, you gotta warn us before you show up in that!" Riley had snorted, her eyes watering as she laughed. "Are you telling me you wanted to wear that??"
Hyunjin, who wore the baggy orange shirt and red hat of Jaq, nodded enthusiastically. "I think we look great! And doesn't JJ look like a princess?"
JJ had just blushed, an easy grin on her face as she showed off her dress.
Riley, who was walking with Mya and Jeongin, was dressed in an outfit you would never have thought she'd wear, unless the world was ending. She was dressed as Sexy Maleficent, as a surprise tie-in with the Sleeping Beauty couple. She had the black horns on her head, but she wore little else. Just the purple and black teeny bodysuit and thigh-high socks she'd purchased at the mall last week, and black heels. Her red lipstick was bold, bringing out her evil smirk, and Alaska had done her makeup so it made her cheekbones pop.
Now, as he walked with Felix and Alaska, Chan couldn't keep his eyes off her. He gawped, cheeks pink, as he played with his fake Mario mustache, which was already crooked. Clearly, he hadn't mentally prepared for the potential that the girl he was obsessed with would truly dress for the holiday.
"Damn dude, and you're over here looking like an idiot!" Minho had finally broken his stare at Tessa to laugh at his friend, his cat ears almost falling off.
Renee and Seungmin were pouring drinks for one another. They also matched. Renee was in a bright green dress with fairy wings, because she was Tinkerbell, and Seungmin was Peter Pan. She looked just like a dainty little fairy.
As you searched for Changbin, the party began in full swing. Robin had been right; there really were dozens of famous people, ones you never thought you'd meet in person, mingling with you and your friends. You thought you saw a couple members of the famous kpop group, TXT, getting themselves punch, while Niall Horan from One Direction was complimenting Robin and Han's matching costumes.
"Hey, lookin' good, Angel!" someone who looked suspiciously like Enhypen's Jake called to you, winking.
"Are you as devilish as you look?" His friend, who looked a lot like Sunghoon, grinned at Tessa.
God, what had the two of you gotten yourselves into? You sighed and hurried away, pulling Tessa with you as you tried to hunt down your short king in the crowd of partygoers.
The two of you didn't get far, before Minho, who had been watching from his spot by the snacks, made his move. You stared as he began to stride over, mouth pulled into a taut line, his eyes lasered in on Tessa.
He was only a couple feet away from you, when someone stepped in front of him, stopping his angry crusade.
"Hey Ladies." Another hot guy, dressed as Harry Potter, stepped into your path, a playful smile on his lips. "Love the costumes, you look great." He eyed Tessa with great interest. "I love the sexy devil costume, where did you get the horns?"
"Thanks," she grinned smugly. "I got them at the costume store, but my friend helped me diy them a bit. I wanted them to have rhinestones. I like your sexy Harry Potter costume."
"Oh, I'm just Harry Potter, not sexy," he corrected with a huff of laughter.
Tessa obviously checked him out. "Oh, could've fooled me."
You choked back a giggle at the startled, sheepish look on the guys' face. If Tessa could do one thing, it was flirt with any and every guy in the room. It was just a bonus that this one seemed to be hot, and nice. They were clearly hitting it off well. You should definitely just leave them to it.
"Ooh, slay, Tess!" Riley called, a few yards away. A group of guys circled around her, Mya, and Alaska. You thought you recognized them as the surfer guys from the hot tub last week. Felix was watching his girlfriend carefully, while Jeongin wandered back and forth, waiting for his chance. Chan was scowling so hard, you worried his face would freeze like that.
As you walked away, laughing under your breath, you caught a precursory glimpse of Minho, who had retreated back to his spot by the snack table, practically spitting fire at Harry Potter.
You wondered if he had just moved a little faster, could he have had a chance?
"Hey Gorgeous, standing all alone?" Changbin's teasing voice cut through the noise of the crowd, causing your heart to stutter in your chest.
"Bin!" you exclaimed, abandoning all pride and jumping into his arms. "I was trying to find you, but there's so many people here!"
"I know, Robin wasn't lying when she said that she invited everyone, huh?" He chuckled. "I think I saw all of TXT playing spin the bottle with some of our friends. Should I be concerned? How does she even know them?"
You shrugged, snuggling yourself into his arms. "I have no idea, but I'm not complaining. This party is gonna be fun!"
The two of you had been dating for exactly a week. And you could only describe your relationship as... smoldering. The more time you spent with him, the more your feelings grew. You felt as if you could tell him anything, that you could rely on him for everything. You'd never felt like that about anyone before.
It didn't hurt that he was literally obsessed with you. Not that you needed a man to be obsessed with you, but you were coming to realize just how nice it felt. He absolutely spoiled you, both with physical and emotional gestures. He always made sure you felt his love, whether it was by hugging you so tight you couldn't breath, bringing you late night snacks in your cabin, or constantly telling you exactly how strong his feelings were for you.
Changbin tapped the side of your halo-clad head, breaking you out of your thoughts. "What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?" He ran a gentle hand through your hair.
You smiled, shaking your head. "Just thinking about what an incredible boyfriend you are, that's all," you smiled innocently, reveling in the adorable blush that spread across his cheeks.
"You saying that stuff in public makes me so..." Changbin groaned, yanking his silly mouse hat from his head and scrubbing a hand through his hair.
"So what?" You grinned coyly.
"So obsessed with you," he sighed, running his hands up and down your body helplessly. "And this outfit... did I tell you how fucking obsessed I am with this outfit?"
"No, I don't think so." You bit your lip in what you hoped was a flirty manner.
"Well let me say it now." He leaned close, his breath tickling your ear, causing you to shiver. "You look absolutely delectable tonight. You always do, but that little skirt makes me want to rip it off right here, in front of everyone."
Your cheeks burned crimson, but you slid your arms around his neck, gently leading him to the corner of the room so you could have a bit of privacy. "You're gonna have to wait until later tonight for that, Mister," you tsked playfully. "We still have all evening to have fun! It's Halloween, after all."
"Mm, well don't wear that and tempt me!" Then, his lips were on yours, tongue teasing your lower lip as he invaded your mouth, giving and taking the passion you both felt. He tasted of chocolate bars and his mint chapstick, a flavor you had, embarrassingly, come to crave at random moments during the day.
Changbin pressed you further against the wall, those huge arms caging you in. Your stomach flipped as he pulled your lower lip into his mouth, trapping you against him. As a tall girl, you hadn't come across many short guys who felt confident enough to take control physically. But Changbin was the exception, in many ways. It was like he enjoyed showing you just how gorgeous you were, height bedamned.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spied a flash of dark brown hair and a cocky smile. Uh oh... you inwardly grimaced, hoping that Changbin wouldn't notice. It was in this moment that you realized you hadn't actually told him about the unexpected attendee.
But of course, Changbin sensed the change in your demeanor, as you got distracted. "What is it?" He studied your features carefully. "You left me for a second there, did I do something? Did I bite you again? It was only once! You tasted like maple syrup!"
You nudged him in the ribs with a smile. "No, you didn't bite me Bin! Just... don't turn around, okay?"
True to character, Changbin was already whirling around, head swiveling left and right, blatantly staring at everyone at the party, which was turning into a raucous occasion.
"What? What did you see? Or who-" Changbin stopped short when he spotted... none other than Kim Namjoon.
Changbin's entire body seized up as he stared the man down, fists clenching and unclenching as his teeth ground together. "When the hell did he get here, and who invited him?" he hissed, eyes narrowed.
Namjoon was dressed as a pirate, and with a sword and eyepatch to match, you had
