Y/n's POV
I was currently at the 5:00 am practice. It was like hell. Going up and down, practicing defense. He also made us do 20 laps to just 'warmup'. Long story short I'm ready for this to be over and there's probably still an hour left. We were scrimmaging, kinda right now. Charlie and Orion were still at each other's necks. I'm ready for whatever this thing is to be over. I want the old ducks back, I don't mean with Bombay or even the team being together at home. I want the team that worked together, didn't argue, never got into fights. It's just not the same. The torture, I mean practice, went on for a long time. Eventually he was done with us and told us to get go get changed. Luckily this time our clothes weren't soaked in a shower. I got changed and started towards my dorm. I just wanted to shower. I finally got to my dorm to find the still asleep Allison. I grabbed a comfy but decent looking outfit and got showered and what not. I was done at perfect time cause breakfast would be starting. I shook Allison awake, well it took a little for her to actually get up. I waited for her to get ready and we walked to breakfast. I got my food and sat with the ducks and she sat with her group.
"Morning y/n." Guy said.
"Mornin." I replied. I ate my food peacefully. The team was very mixed looking, some tired and some looked fine. I don't know what I was to be honest. I finished my food and got up to leave the cafeteria. I exited and went to the right. I didn't get far when I heard someone yell for me.
"Y/n!" I heard the familiar blondes voice. I turned around to see Adam and Scooter.
"Hey Banks, Hey Scooter." I said. Scooter nodded as a hey and Adam came up to me.
"Do you wanna hangout today? If you want we could go home for a little bit." Adam offered.
"Yeah, of course, when do you wanna head over there?" I asked.
"Um I still gotta eat breakfast, but in like an hour I can pick you up at your dorm." Adam said.
"Alright, I'll be waitin." I said. He smiled and gave me a peck on the lips. He walked over to Scooter and they went to the cafeteria. Ok then, looks like I'm going home for a little bit. It's Saturday so Mrs. Dennis is home, Georgia should be in Tennessee, but at this point I don't know what she's doing. I went to the library first, cause I need a book to read. I got in the library and looked around. I could just read the outsiders, but I read that like a month ago so maybe not. I looked around for a while and got to a Stephen king section. I looked at a few of them and decided on IT by Stephen King. I went up the desk to see the headmaster. I guess he was the librarian too.
"Ah, this is a good one, are you a fan of Stephen king?" He asked as he checked the book.
"Kind of, Ive only read Cujo by him so far." I said.
"That's a good one too, hope you enjoy the book." He said handing it back to me. I nodded and walked out of the library. I made it to my dorm and began reading the book.......
I about lost it when there was a knock on the door. I closed the book and got up. I opened the door revealing Adam.
"Oh hey." I said.
"Hey, are you ready to go?" He asked.
"Uh yeah, how are we getting there, skates?" I asked.
"Skates if you want." Adam said. I nodded and went to my dresser nook thing and got my skates and a bag. You're not aloud to wear your skates inside the school, so that sucks. Me and Adam walked out of the school and to the bench just outside the fence for the school.
"Do you remember the way back?" I asked.
"I know a much easier than Avermans route, so yes." Adam said.
"Ok good cause I have no idea how to get outta this place." I said. He laughed at me a little and waited for me to finish putting on my skates. After I struggled for a moment I was ready I put my shoes in my bag, and Adams cause he didn't wanna carry his shoes. We skated towards Edina talking pretty much the whole time. Adam spilled anything he learned about Varsity from his time on the team. It took a good 30 minutes just to get to Edina. We skated a little longer, but decided to stop by Hans. We walked in to see Hans messing with some hockey sticks.
"Hello." He said with his back to us.
"Hey Hans." I said. He turned around smiling.
"Y/n! Adam!" He said waddling over to us. He gave me a big hug and then gave Adam one.
"Oh I'm so glad to see you two! I haven't been getting much visits except for Charlie since you guys began going to that school." Hans said.
"Well since it was the weekend we decided we should stop by and see ya." Adam said.
"I'm glad about that! So how has school been treating you two?" He asked.
"It's been ok, pretty much the whole team hates coach Orion, we tied yesterday, had a practice at 5:00am today, and it's just been going on like that." I said.
"I listened to the game on the radio last night. Hearing Charlie's outburst was very different." Hans said.
"Yeah I don't know what happened to Charlie, it's just him and Coach Orion going back and fourth like cats and dogs." I said.
"I've heard Charlie opinions on the new coach, what about you? What's your view of the Coach?" Hans asked.
"I don't know, he's not actually that bad. He's being a coach, trying to teach us defense really. It'd be nicer if him and Charlie didn't have their thing." I said.
"Sounds like it, what about you Adam? How's school going for you?" He asked.
"It's just weird I guess. I'm on Varsity now and they all despise me except one of them. We won our game against the bears last night, except we found our locker room frozen." Adam said looking to me.
"Your locker room was...frozen?" Hans asked confused.
"Yup, you should explain it y/n." Adam said.
"Well ya see Hans, after our game, we found our clothes soaked in the showers. Every single piece of clothing. So we decided to get some payback. We got a tank of liquid nitrogen and sprayed their lockers." I explained.
"That is very evil, but smart. Who came up with that idea?" Hans asked.
"Kenny." I said.
"Ah, makes since. But why are you guys and varsity enemies? Don't you all go to the same school." Hans said.
"Well one hates us because his brother didn't get on the JV team because of us." I said.
"And the other ones hate them, and me, just because we're the ducks." Adam said.
"Yup, as they say we don't belong there." I said.
"That doesn't make sense. You all belong there, a schools a school. The people there are what make it what it is. The ducks I know always find a way to fix what's wrong. You guys can prove them wrong. I know you can." Hans said.
"I don't know how we're gonna do that, but we'll try." I said.
"You won't just try, you will succeed." Hans said happily. I smiled at his enthusiasm. We talked with him for a while and decided to leave. We told him bye and started towards our houses. After about 10 minutes we were finally at our neighborhood. We stopped at my door and Adam looked in the little window embedded in the door.
"She's not in the living room." He said.
"Should we scare her, or just call for her when we walk in?" I asked.
"Up to you." He said. I opened the door and Adam slammed the door behind us. Looks like scaring us out of the window.
"Hello?" Mrs. Dennis yelled from upstairs. I slapped my hand over Adams mouth before he could say anything. I grabbed his hand and pulled him beside the stairwell.
"Is somebody there?" She asked. She would definitely die in a horror movie first. I could hear her walking towards the stairs. She got to the top of them and slowly looked around. She inched down the steps watching the surroundings. We were just to where she couldn't see us. I waited til she got to the floor and began to walk away. I grabbed a pebble from the planter thing and threw it across the floor. She snapped her head the other direction.
"This isn't funny." She said. I mean it kinda is. She walked to the other side of the stairs. She turned her head towards us and yelled really, really, loud when she seen us. We were just standing there so that made it better.
"Why are you- why did you do that!" She said still looking scared.
"Thought it would be funny to scare you." I said.
"That wasn't funny!" She said.
"It was kinda funny." I said.
"Was not!" She said trying to hide her smile.
"Whatever you say." I said going towards her.
"Anyways, what are you guys doing here?" She asked smiling fully this time.
"Decided we'd come visit you." I said.
"Isn't that sweet. I missed you two running around here everyday. Georgia left Wednesday, she was still sad you guys even left to begin with." Mrs. Dennis said.
"I can't imagine what her complaining was like when we weren't here, we got enough of it before we left." I said hugging her.
"Oh well, she'll live. C'mon sit down tell me about how it's going so far." She said waving me and Adam towards the living room.....
We were in the car, don't exactly know how we got into this, but we did. Me and Adam were in the backseat while Mr. and Mrs. Dennis were in the front. Going to the store for some stuff, it was probably about 4, so we would have to leave soon after we get home. Soon enough we pulled in the Walmart parking lot. It was kinda a odds and ins trip. We walked around the store picking up things as we went. Mrs. Dennis made a weird sound and looked to me and Adam.
"Will you two go get some laundry soap? I completely forgot to grab it while we were over there." Mrs. Dennis said.
"Yeah." I said. Me and Adam began walking to the whole other side of the store to find laundry soap.
"How long are you wanting to stay tonight?" Adam asked.
"Not too long, wanna leave like 6 so we have plenty of sunlight to get back to Eden hall?" I asked.
"Yeah sure." He said. We eventually got to where the soap should be, we began walking down the aisle and I found the soap.
"Found it?" He asked.
"Yup, lets go." I said. We began walking back and I was glancing down the aisles as we went. I could've sworn I just seen someone I knew.
"Adam stop." I said.
"What?" He asked confused.
"Is that Jesse?" I asked.
"What where?" He asked. I pointed to the boy down the aisle.
"I think it is..." Adam said.
"Well c'mon we can't just leave and not say hi!" I said pulling Adams arm. He stumbled as I pulled him about taking both of us down. The ruckus made Jesse look to us.
"Y/n? Adam?" He asked confused.
"Jesse!" I said as I got to him. I hugged him, cause I mean it's been like 3 months since I seen him.
"You know I don't like hugs y/n." Jesse groaned.
"Well you're getting one whether you like it or not." I said. He finally hugged me back for a moment. We pulled away and he just nodded to Adam as hey. Don't think they'd be the ones to hug.
"So how's that private school treatin you guys?" Jesse asked.
"Ok I guess, the varsity hockey hates us but other than that it's been ok. We could really use you smart mouth sometimes." I said.
"Why do they hate you guys?" Jesse asked confused.
"Probably because the captain of the teams little brother didn't get on JV because of us, so they all follow his lead and hate us." Adam said.
"That's dumb, I would love to catch up with you losers, but my dads waitin for me." Jesse said.
"Alright bye Jesse, see ya around." I said.
"See ya." He said. He walked off giving us a wave before he turned the corner.
"C'mon y/n we gotta go too." Adam said wrapping his arm around my shoulders. We turned around and began walking back to where they were last. When Mr. Dennis came into view Adam took his arm off my shoulders. It's funny he's still scared of Mr. Dennis.
"There they are." Mr. Dennis said.
"Took you guys a second." Mrs. Dennis said.
"We ran into Jesse." I said putting the soap in the cart.
"Jesse....hall?" She asked.
"Yup." I said.
"I remember him, he's a sweet boy." Mrs. Dennis said.....
Me and Adam were skating back to Eden Hall. It felt like forever, but I like getting to hang out with Adam like this. I halfway knew where we were, like 10 minutes from the school. We weren't talking too much, just ready to get back. I'd say it was 6:30 ish right now.
We showed up at the gates for the school and stopped to change out of our skates. When we were done we started walking towards the doors, there wasn't too much people out right now. Sooner than I really wanted we arrived at my dorm. I turned to Adam and kissed him. I could stay with him all day, but I wanted to read some of the book and sleep.
"I love you, you know that right?" Adam asked. I chuckled a little at the question.
"Of course I know that Adam, I've been with you for almost 8 months." I said.
"I know, I just want you to know I love you so much. I'll always be there, even if you hate my guts at the time." Adam said.
"I love you too, and I always will." I said. He smiled and pulled me in for a hug. This was odd, but I was enjoying it. He just held me for a little bit and let go. He had a certain smile that I can't read.
"Bye Y/l/n." Adam said.
"Bye banks." I said. I opened my door and closed it as Adam began walking away. That was very confusing, but sweet. I flopped down on my bed and eventually grabbed my book. I began reading don't know how much I'm gonna read though...
