"So you ran a background check, and all you found was a speeding ticket?" Ava asked as she, Malia and Stiles walked up the stairs to the school.
"Speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago," Stiles said and the twins nodded slowly.
"Which means what?" Malia asked.
"Who speeds?" Stiles asked. "People trying to get away from something."
Ava and Malia turned to each other with raised eyebrows. "Well, how many tickets do you have?" Malia asked and Stiles scoffed.
"None."
"How many would you have if your dad didn't get you out of them?" Ava asked with a raised eyebrow, nodding slowly.
"Seventeen."
"I don't know, Stiles. I mean, I see why you're worried. He's really hot." Malia said making Stiles squint at her knowing she is HIS girlfriend.
"He's got like great hair, perfect body," Ava said making Stiles squint at her as well. "You should feel threatened."
"Thank you...Because I do...Now more than ever." Stiles said.
"You want me to torture him?" Malia asked.
"No, I don't want you to torture him." He replied.
"I'm pretty sure we can take him," Ava said agreeing with her sister.
"I have a plan. All right? There are steps to doing this right." Stiles asked making Ava look at him.
"What steps?" Malia asked.
"We get the story. Verify the facts. You find the piece that doesn't fit and...and catch him in the act. That's how you do it." Stiles explained and sighed when someone caught his eye.
Ava and Malia turned around to see Theo closing the door before turning around. He waved at them when he noticed Ava, Malia and Stiles.
"Why are you so suspicious of this guy?" Malia asked and Stiles sighed.
"Because I remember Theo from fourth grade. Okay? That's not Theo." Stiles said staring at Theo.

Ava walked into AP Biology and slowed and stopped when she saw Scott sitting next to Kira. She looked to Lydia and Kira who had the same confused looks. Ava walked to her seat next to Lydia. "Scott?" Ava whispered leaning forward. "Are you in the right class?"
"AP Biology," Scott said looking at her weirdly.
"Do you know what AP stands for?" Kira asked.
"Advanced Placement," Scott said, amused, before opening his textbooks showing highlighted sentences and sticky notes.
"Welcome to AP Biology. Let's see who's awake. Can somebody tell me what plasmids are?" Ms Finch asked leaning against her desk.
"Circular, self-replicating DNA molecules often used in cloning proteins," Ava said and Ms Finch nodded.
"Nicely stated, Ava." Ms Finch said. "Now, can you tell me what vitamin is absorbed in the stomach via parietal cell production of a glycoprotein?"
"Uh..." Lydia put her hand up to answer and then realised she didn't know the answer and looked at Ava next to her smiling.
"B-12," Ava said again, making Ms Finch smile to her impressed.
"Mr McCall, did you know the answer?"
"Um, no," Scott said.
"It's a common test question. What's your number one college pick?" Ms Finch asked.
"Um..."
"Stop saying, "Um."..."
"Sorry. UC Davis." Scott said making all the girls look at him impressed.
"Good choice." Ms Finch stated. "It's the best school on the West Coast for biological and physical sciences. You're in the right class if that's what you're hoping for. Who else thinks they're in the right class?"
The only two people to rise their hands were Ava Tate and Theo Raeken. Soon everyone else raised their hands.
"Good. Then you should all be prepared for the test tomorrow." Ms Finch said making some of the students groan. "Don't be so disappointed. This test is specifically to help you determine whether you should be in AP Biology. You have two weeks to drop. Tomorrow's test will just weed out the ones who shouldn't be here...And that could be any of you."

Ava and Lydia were walking down the hall as Lydia was ranting about a poem she read the other day. Ava noticed Tracy standing at her locker, freaking out and she nudge Lydia and Allison pointing to Tracy.
"There's nothing there...There's nothing there...There's nothing there...There's nothing there...There's nothing there...There's nothing there." Tracy mumbled to herself over and over.
"Tracy?" Lydia asked grabbing her arm carefully and gently. "Are you all right? How about we go outside?" The trio lead Tracy outside to a bench to calm down.
A few moments later, the same trio stood around in Lydia's mum's office, talking to Lydia's mum about Tracy. "We know what parasomnia is, Mum," Lydia said.
"But what about the feathers?" Ava asked and Lydia's mum sighed softly.
"People with night terrors have done far stranger things than eating their pillows." She started. "And anyway, I already told her to take the rest of the day off, but she said she didn't want to miss the first day."
"Let us try. Ava and I don't have any more classes. We can take her home and talk to her." Lydia suggested.
"Guys, she's having trouble sleeping. If she needs help beyond that, we'll find her professional help. Got it?"
"I couldn't agree more," Ava said having someone in mind.

"I don't see any signs of an attempted forced entry," Jordan said as she inspected Tracy's window. Ava, Lydia and Jordan had taken Tracy home. "The latch seems okay. You said something about birds, Tracy?" Jordan asked and Tracy looked at him.
"The bird was at the skylight. The one that woke me up." Tracy clarified.
"Can I take a look?" Jordan asked and Tracy nodded making Ava move a chair towards him. "Tracy, you said the skylight was sealed for weatherproofing," Jordan said looking at the skylight.
"Yeah. Why?" Tracy asked. Jordan pushed open the skylight making Tracy sigh. He glanced around before looking at Ava and back to the skylight. "Anything?" Tracy asked. Jordan looked back to Ava and Lydia and looked out the skylight so Tracy didn't see his look. "No. Nothing."

Lydia walked home after that as she was tired. Ava stayed with Jordan as she had nothing to do. "I can't do anything official right now, but I can come back after my shift tonight and watch the house for a couple of hours," Jordan said.
"I'll keep you company," Ava offered.
"I think I'll be okay." He said and she smiled.
"But this is your own time," Ava said. "And to me, it sounds like you don't want me around."
"I wouldn't do it if I didn't think something strange was going on," Jordan said turning to her. "I also owe you. "
"For what?"
"Three weeks of digging through every piece of old literature and mythology trying to figure out the something strange going on with me."
"But we never figured it out," Ava said. "I'll bring you coffee."
"Don't you have school tomorrow?" Jordan said. "I don't want you sleeping in class."
"Two classes," Ava said smiling. "In the Afternoon."
"How can you only have two classes?" Jordan asked.
"I was a loner before I met the pack so I had the knowledge to pass every test and exam. I'm thinking of either going to Royal College of Art or Med school." Ava said bashfully. "I could technically have graduated last year." Jordan smiled at her for her brains. Ava kissed him on the cheek before starting the journey to the loft. "And I will bring you coffee at midnight if I want to."
"Medium Americano. Black." Jordan said giving up.
"I know," Ava said.
🔥🔥
"One Medium American Black for you as promised and one Caramel Cappacanio for me," Ava said passing him the coffee. She opened the passenger door and dumped her bag on the seat before moving over to Jordan.
"As far as I can tell, no one's gone in and no one's come out." He said making her sigh and shake her head.
"Sorry, I wasted your time," Ava said looking at her feet.
"Not a total waste. I'm just glad Tracy's okay." Jordan said. "And I get to spend some time with you don't I?" Jordan said making Ava chuckle.
"You do know how to make me smile, don't you."
"I try."
