"The blast's estimated impact is equal to 20 kilotons of TNT!" 'Ah, we're screwed.' You thought to yourself, you were too exhausted to react anymore than that. You could feel how your heart hammered against your chest, feeling worried for the outcome.
"Don't shoot!" Hoshina's sudden shout made you startled, looking at the two soldiers who were aiming at the flying Yoju and saw how the monsters blow up in the sky, the explosion made blast of wind to harshly blow past you guys. "Evacuate!" Ashiro shouted in command but no one move in their places, knowing it very well that there'll be no time to get out.
"Human.." An eerie voice called out, looking behind you guys, you saw the head of the Honju. "Looks like this fight is a draw." It spoke, you gritted your teeth, you couldn't think of anything to do in this situation.
As your mind was clouded, a blur figure of someone run past you, your eyes widen to look who it was. "Kafka?" If Hoshina wasn't in your hold, he would have run after the guy. "Get back here! There's nothing you could do!" And there's nothing that you guys could do as well.
Your eyes followed Kafka's movement, he was running fast for a person that only have 1% of combat power. It's impossible to run that fast. But the fog in your mind had disappeared when you saw him leap high off the ground, and his whole body being covered in black before it revealed a form you guys never thought would be.
"Senpai!" Ichikawa called out for his senior who had transformed into a monster that you guys have been searching for the last few months. "We're detecting a gigantic Kaiju signal above the base!" Staring at the monster in front of you guys, its armored body with dark, segmented skin and glowing blue lines running across it. His face that resembles a skeletal mask with glowing blue eyes.
You didn't expect that Hibino Kafka is the monster you've been searching for.
"Fortitude 9.8! This signal, it's Kaiju no. 8!" Hoshina seem to be crestfallen or shock, he had told you his speculation after the exam but it slip past your mind became you're too worried for Kikoru that time. And it seems to be that he had grown fond of Kafka that he had brushed off the possibility.
"Senpai! Do you have any idea what you're doing?!" Ichika shouted, you glance at him and saw Kikoru next to him. He must've known, and the thing that your sister was lying to you about, a secret that she kept from everyone, even from you was this.
That a Kaiju was within the walls of Tachika Base. That Hibino Kafka had the powers of a Kaiju.
You all watched as he flew through the sky, you lost a visual of him and only saw how the Yoju bomb curled up when Kafka... Kaiju no. 8 had punched it into the center of the bomb. His fist making contact with the soft fleshes of the molded Yoju.
"Everyone, on the ground! Shield at max!" You guys do at what Ashiro had ordered, kneeling on the ground and letting your combat suit to protect you. Feeling the ground shakes as Kaiju no. 8 had landed on the ground, and seconds later, a deafening sound of the Yoju bomb exploding echoed.
You expected harsh wind blowing st you guys and debris from the collapsed building would be flown st you, as well as the overwhelming impact of the bomb explosion but when you try looking up. You saw Kaiju no. 8 standing in front of all of you, using his body to shield everyone as the wind curved up and avoided all of you.
His face was crumbling; fragments of his mask was disintegrating into sliver, revealing his eye to all of you. There was visible exhaustion in them, he looked at Ichikawa and Kikoru, feeling sorry for being reckless and putting his life in danger by showing his real form.
Noticing your younger sister and Ichikawa shifted in their position, attempting to go towards him. Pulling your spear out of your back smoothly, you use it to block their path. Not looking at them, but they tense up when they saw how the blade of your spear shine, reflecting the scared look on their face.
"Stay there, don't move." All you said, letting Hoshina wrap his arm around your shoulder as you remove your hold on his waist. Brushing your hair up, seeing how Ashiro and other soldiers alongside her had raised their guns, aiming at the threat. "You two knew, huh." You let out an exasperated sigh, taking a look at the two.
"So this was what you were keeping a secret, Kikoru." Remembering how she looked hesitant when you and Hoshina visited her after the exam, the guilt that was evident in her eyes when Hoshina asked her about the Honju that she neutralized herself. "Kaiju no. 8 was the one that blew the Honju up during the examination. That's why Hibino Kafka's vitals were gone." Hoshina was too stunned to speak, not knowing what should he say.
All of you watch as a hand cuff was chained on Kafka's wrist once he had turned back to his human form. His head hung low, as another chain was on Ashiro's hands, guiding him or like.. dragging him to follow her footsteps. He couldn't look at anyone in the eyes, everyone had their eyes widen as they observe him.
And when he walk past you guys, Ichikawa seems to be holding out his hand towards his senior, but Kafka didn't look up at him. Staying his eyes on the ground, his hand formed in a tight fist.
After months of searching, Kaiju no. 8 was captured.

INTOXICATED! longest chapter I've written so far! we're catching up to the anime. probably be seeing Narumi, wonder who'll be his voice actor. I'm thinking that he'll probably have the same va as Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs? He gives off that vibe, except for the suicidal part.
Also, genuine question, i need your guys opinion about this one. since I'm planning yo update daily, is it fine eith you guys that it is more of a manga based+my own twist rather than what the anime is? Since there are few, yet crucial, scenes that are added in the anime without in the manga? Also, the setting might chaged too..
