"How did your compatibility test go with the Kaiju no. 4 suit?" You stared at Hoshina, he was busy looking through the report about Kaiju no. 8. While you were flipping through the files regarding Kaiju no. 7's powers and techniques, as well as how his teleportation would work when he suddenly brought the topic up. "I didn't agree with it." He tore his gaze off his laptop and he was now looking at you.

"What do you mean?" You picked the folder up and show him a picture of Kaiju no. 7, it was taken during your fight with it. "I'll be wearing the combat suit that is made of no. 7." He could see the way you smile as you said those, your eyes were beaming with excitement.

Hoshina remembered the fight that happened with you and no. 7. That night, he was amazed by your overwhelming skills and how easily you had taken down the Kaiju. There were few injuries you received from it but nonetheless, you still defeated it.

He also remembered feeling his heart hammering against his chest with no particular reason.

"I already got the approval of it. I'll be going to the Ariake Maritime Base next week for the test and also for.. experiments." You whispered the last word, not wanting him to hear it but basing on the way his eyes opened, he heard it. He leaned on his desk, propping his elbow on the table and leaning on his palm.

"What do you mean?"

You stayed quiet for a moment, thinking of your words carefully and he waited patiently for your reply. It would be hard to use its technique with the combat suit alone, with the same experiment and procedures that was used on the captain of the First Division Unit, you'll undergo it so you can use the power of Kaiju no. 7.

"They'll be putting Kaiju no. 7's retinas in my eyes. Or probably have its other eyes to be inputted and replaced one of my eyes." Hoshina listened attentively, nodding his head as he let you speak. "I wouldn't be able to use Kaiju no. 7 properly without its eyes. The scientists found out that it was able to teleport and form portals because of its eyes."

Hoshina leaned back, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "You realize what this means, right? This isn't just about enhancing your combat abilities. It's about integrating a part of a Kaiju into your very being. It's risky and unprecedented." He paused, searching your face. "But if anyone can handle it, it's you. Just promise me you'll be careful. We can't afford to lose you." His lips twitch up, smiling as he stared at you.

I can't afford to lose you.

You stared at him for a moment, thinking about his words. He is right about it being risky, and it would probably take a few weeks to heal, and you would be having a hard time to actually master the technique. Or probably, you wouldn't be able to fully used it at all.

"I'm well aware of the risk, but they already had done it with Narumi and it was successful." Biting the inside pf your cheeks as you leaned in on his desk. "I just knew it would be worth the risk, Hoshina." You just smiled at him and he gave you a nod, understanding your reason for it.

"Alrighty, let's discuss about no. 9 and no. 8."

"Nah, I'll sleep."

"H-hey!"

You were awoken from your nap with Hoshina nudging you, fluttering your eyes open as your vision was quite blurry. Looking up at him, he was putting on his combat suit, talking to Okonogi and the other operation team staffs when you felt the building shake.

Hoshina turned to you with a serious look. "The base is under attack," he said urgently. His words snapped you fully awake. With a rush of adrenaline, you stand up, tapping your earpiece to connect with Okonogi, preparing to face the imminent danger and protect the base from whatever threat was outside.

"What?" Your eyes shut opened, the drowsiness immediately disappeared as you had the gist of what's currently happening outside. You were glad that you have your combat suit on you all the time in case of an emergency like this.

You immediately clad your body in your suit, feeling it merging with your skin and becoming a second skin of yours. Rushing towards the second floor of the office and opening the door that leads you to where you normally store your weapons.

Isao had already sent you the spear that your mother had used in her battles against the Kaiju. Gazing at the box that held it, you reached for the lid and slowly lifted it open. Inside lay the magnificent white spear, its blade shimmering with a neon violet edge.

Hearing another explosion, you grabbed the spear and it felt light on your hands.

Amidst the thunderous echoes of another explosion reverberating through the base, you swiftly grasped the spear. It felt weightless in your grasp, like it wasn't even made of metal and Kaiju fiber. Closing the door, and walking down the stairs to follow Hoshina out of the office.

"Estimated strength, 6.1, 6.3, 6.2, 6.5... All of them, they're all Honju." You could hear the shock in Okonogi's voice as you followed Hoshina out in the hallway. "This is Hoshina." You heard his voice in the earbuds as the two of you continue to walk, the other soldiers running past you and immediately going outside of the building.

"Captain Ashiro is not present. Therefore, I will issue the combat orders. All night guards begin to respond. Also, call for off-duty officers. Prepare to meet the enemy." Okonogi respond hastily, you're sure she and the others are surprised and are panicking because they didn't detect any of Kaiju within the perimeter that is near the base.

"Do your best to lure the Kaiju to the training grounds. Do not let them escape the base." He then began giving orders and commands to everyone. You could already see the chaos that had ensued in the base, there fire that surround the entire Tachikawa base.

Buildings had collapse and smoke was everywhere. You looked up and saw wyvern-type Honju flying in the sky, there were a lot of them that with your fingers on your hands alone couldn't count them.

"[Name]," you stared at Hoshina when he called your name. "You help Ikaruga and his platoon. I'll handle this." His eyes weren't fixated on you but rather on the figure that is walking slowly towards your direction, the smoke was a hindrance to see what it was.

"What do you mean?" Your brows furrowed as you grab his shoulders to make him look at you. "Kafka said that 10 wyvern-type Yoju would only be seen once a year and that they operate alone." He glance back at the figure that is slowly emerging from the smoke.

"So, there must be something stronger than them that is able to command them."

Without Okonogi telling you guys the fortitude levels of the Honju around you, you're like a team wearing blindfolds, unsure of what you'll about to face and only relying on your instincts and your other senses.

Gripping your spear tightly, thinking if you should actually leave Hoshina to handle the threat that is in front of you or not.

"Honju's estimated fortitude calculation complete! It's 8.3.. that's a Daikaiju class!" As you heard her, you stared at Hoshina, unsure of what to do. Stepping forward and you were about to say something but he already cut you of, "Don't worry, you go ahead, [Name]." He placed his arm in front of you, hindering you to take another step forward.

You contemplated for a moment before letting out a sigh of defeat. "Once I'm done with the Yoju, I'll come to you." Gripping the spear tightly as you stared at his reaction, he only glanced at you and nodded.

The Daikaiju had made its entrance, it was approximately 8 meters in height and you felt the overwhelming power that radiates off its body. Hoshina had already ushered you to go, you just nodded and propel yourself up in the air.

"As for the Honju..." His voice was cut off by a loud explosion. You glanced behind you and saw that the Kaiju had already attacked him "I have to handle it myself." As he had successfully dodged the Kaiju, you heard a screeching noise came from it.

From up in the air, you could see the others had already made their way outside and was ready to fight the Honju. With their firearms clasped in their arms. The Honju reacted to the banshee scream of the Kaiju, as if they're conversing and understanding one another with just the screech.

You could see the new recruits having a hard time attacking the Honju in front of them that stayed still and let them fire at it, their bullets were deflected by its shield. Looking at your spear and at the Honju, it will be your first time to use it in a fight and you hope you wouldn't disappoint your mother.

"Unleash Combat Power, 88%." Licking your lips as you use the collapsed building the propel yourself up in the sky once again, lifting the spear up and aiming the tip of it at the back of the Honju. Your hair swish behind you as your blade finally touched its tough skin, you easily pierced past through it and your blade made contact to its soft flesh under the shield. Completely neutralizing it with one jab of hour spear.

You don't even know what kind of technique your mother uses, but somehow, your father gave you a list of its attack. In the list, he also wrote that he isn't entirely sure of all of them, he just describes each skill but didn't give its name.

"T-thank you, Kikoru's older sister!" A female soldier shouted at you, you look down on them as you stand on top of the defeated Honju. Smiling at them as you rest the spear on your shoulder. "Be careful!" You reminded them and once again leap into the air, finding more Honju.

"Isn't that what the late Shinomiya Hikari used before?"

"Yeah.."

"Don't attack the front!" Hibino's voice connected with your earbuds, you were hopping from the heap of debris and up into the air, thrusting and swinging your blades at every Yoju you interacted with. "You need to attack their backs." His voice was shaky as he gave you guys information on how to deal with the Yoju.

The wyvern-type Yoju are swarming in the Tachikawa base, Hibino had gave you guys information about the Yoju and the others seem to follow when Ikaruga gave them orders to do so.

You need to speed things up, your mind is clouded by Hoshina's safety. He might be strong with midsize Kaiju and with close combat, but, his attack doesn't seem to faze larger Kaiju. Clicking your tongue on the inside of your cheeks as you swing you thrusted your spear into the Yoju's back and piercing its soft area.

Your earpiece beeped, the soldiers announcing that they couldn't hit the Yoju on their backs because they were being backed up by the other Yoju. It must be what the Daikaiju that Hoshina is currently facing had done, it must have given them commands and iys overwhelming power, they can't do anything but to follow it.

"There's another way." You heard your younger sister spoke through the earpiece. You jumped up in the sky and flip into the air, your body twisting as you once again pierced another Yoju. "I'll just use my unstoppable force to smash rifht through their front armor!" There was a loud thunder sound the echoed in the base.

You spotted a wyvern-type Yoju diving towards a group of soldiers. With swift precision, you propelled yourself towards it, spear aimed at it. As you were nearing the Yoju, you twisted your body mid-air, using the momentum to drive your spear deep and jabbing it into its underbelly, bypassing its tough scales. The Yoju let out a deafening roar as you drove the spear deeper, severing its vital organs. With one final thrust, you had neutralized it.

"Nee-san," Kikoru called you, you hum as you press on your earbud. "I heard that you suggested this weapok for me..." There were sort of irritation in her voice and you let out a snort. Your hair was tangled behind you as you keep leaping onto a pile of debris that came from the collapsed buildings.

"It suits your personality, isn't it?" You hummed in delight when you successfully thrusted your spear on a distracted Yoju. Giving a two-finger salute at the three soldiers who had keep it distracted for you to hit. "It suits your aggressive and... overbearing personality, isn't that right? Ichikawa?" The mentioned guy let out a yelp, you repeated his words.

Ichikawa look around and saw you standing on the fallen Yoju's body, sticking out your tongue at him and immediately take off. Furuhashi stared at your fading body with pure admiration and veneration towards you.

Aiming his firearms at a Yoju when he saw that Kikoru was startled when it came and started attacking her. His bullet didn't pierced through but it freezes the Yoju, ice forming on half of its body where Ichikawa aimed at and Kikoru easily sliced through it in one hit.

Kikoru then mentioned Ichikawa, calling him by his given name, and stating that Ichikawa could have the honor of support her into killing the Yoju. Creating a guerilla squad of two.

You smiled at that, it is very like her.

"Alright, search the battlefield for openings and catch the enemy off guard!" You heard her voice, talking to Ichikawa. Glancing at her, you twirled your spear and propelled yourself up.

If you want to finish this already, you have unleashed your full combat power, and look out at the time. Licking your lips seeing a Yoju above you, its gaze was focused on you and ghe trajectory of its flight was aimed at you.

"Full Forced Unleashed, 90%." It was only two percent different from Hoshina, and you're planning on goijg on the same level at him, or probably surpassed him. Even if it was two percent different from your unleashed combat power earlier, it still had a huge impact on your combat power.

Twirling yourself around when the Yoju came down on you, avoiding it. The Yoju landed on a pile of debris, its eyes were staring at you. Opening its beak, red light formed on its mouth and you knew it would attack. Eyes squinting as you waited for it before dodging the red beam, the laser followed your movement even when you propelled yourself up in the air.

"I can't let this take longer," you muttered and run towards the Yoju, your spear facing back as you jumped up. You were on the same eye level as the Yoju, you smirked at it as your spear was thrusted in its face. Red liquid spurted out where you jabbed it, it shrieked for a few seconds before it leaned on your spear lifelessly once the tip of the blade reach its core.

Pulling your spear off of its head, you move away and watch it fall on the ground with a loud thud.

"I wonder how he is."

INTOXICATED! phew, there were lots of editing that happened in this chapter... and I was, once again, hit by writer's block, dayum.

i thought today was the release of the new ep.. it's still Friday, i forgot what the date today was, just remembered when I checked the app and webiste.. my bad.

Anyway! how did you like this one? I'll update chapter 13 tomorrow after I watch the new ep (double update ;))
