A provincial band contest is coming up and you think you and your bandmates are ready for it. You were all blindly celebrating the contest because of the golden opportunity that you fail to see that you lack an important thing: a lead singer.
You have no idea why it didn't occur to you but you can guesss it might be because the former keyboardist of your band, Park Gunwook, actually sings at your practices but since he is busy with school activities because he is the class president and vice president of school council, he has no time to practice. He is always telling you he can't come to practice but you always thought he can be able to play at the contest.
The other band mates can sing but they told you they can't sing it while playing the instrument they are assigned with. They can do back vocals but leading the song is something they never practiced for.
"Why won't you sing, Y/N? You are the front man and all," Matthew, the one in charge of the electric guitar, says as he points at you. It was a weekly meeting and this one was emergency because you are in desperate situations.
"Me?" You pointed at yourself too and let out a loud laugh. "I'm your manager. I can't be singing."
Ricky, the drumist, scoffed. "Listen to what sound she is letting out. Y/N can't be the singer."
"First of all, rude and second of all, why don't you sing Woohyun? I heard you are pretty good singer." You sit next to him as you look for a response.
"First of all, I can't sing and play instrument at the same time. That is hard. And two, stop calling me Woohyun. It gives me the ick." He cringes physically.
"Well, I would beg Gunwook to be back but I dont want to be responsible for whatever happens if he fails his student responsibility," Gyuvin, the present keyboardist, comments.
You paced around the room trying to find a solution but you were panicking. Nothing is coming into mind and no better idea was brought up until someone barged in the practice room.
"Gunwook? Don't tell me you are back in the band," you say as you expectantly watched his eyes.
Gunwook scoffed. "What? I barely got time to study and you want me to practice music? No way."
He then pulls a chair next to Ricky and sits silently.
"Then what are you doing here?" Matthew asks.
Gunwook shrugged. "I can't see my besties in practice? Besides I wanna see the lead singer you picked."
Everyone groaned who were expecting good things coming out of his mouth.
Gunwook confusingly looks at each of you.
"What? Don't tell me you didn't find one yet?"
"No. Of course not," you replied, pacing around the room fast. "No one wants to join."
"You held audition?" Gunwook asks.
"The school refused to let us put out flyers. He thinks we are rebelling since we are so unpopular." You grimaced since this is all being pain in the butt for you. You didn't know what else to do.
"I'm really sorry I had to put you all through this. I didn't think of the contest to be at such unusual time," Gunwook says while shaking his head. "Instead I will help you out."
You looked at him, not expecting to be surprised. "Good God. The only help you will be doing is if you bring in a singer. If not, thank you for your time. Bye, Park Gunwook."
"Yeah, that's what I will do." He got up from his seat. "I will ask people I know and you secretly hold an audition. Since I'm vice president and all, I'm sure this will be so easy."
"Are you kidding me?" You turn your head to him.
"Why would I be?"
Matthew beemed and got up to hug Gunwook who pushed him away.
"Too early?" Matthew asks.
"Too early." Guwnook nods.
Well, this is hopeful and it's better than sulking about having no one.
You went up to him and shook his hand frantically. "I owe you my life, Park Gunwook!"
"That's too early too."

Even if you are so grateful for what Guwnook did for you, you can say it is not very fruitful. Everyone that came for the audition either sounded bad or would refuse to enter when they found out they are not gonna be prized.
It was such a long day to you all five after hearing 39 people sing. Most of them can only sing pop which you were not looking for as yours was more like a rock band.
You were preparing to leave when you hear two people arguing in the back. You didn't have to see for yourself when a person got pushed in forcefully and unwillingly onto the stage. The guy groaned and looked nastily at the person who pushed him who happend to be the very Park Gunwook. You didn't even notice him leaving the sit next to you.
You couldn't see his face since Matthew was about to turn the spotlight off and now it wasn't in position and the light is blinding you all.
"Hello?" You call out, sitting back at the chair and squinting your eyes to see. "Sorry but we are closing up. Maybe tomorrow?"
"I didn't even wanna be here," a deep voice mutters lowlybut you heard or fine that you were taken aback since it sounded divine to you.
"You are not what?" Ricky asks, impatient.
The guy just groans.
"I'm sorry. We will see you tomorrow if there are students who want to audition." You tell him as politely as possible.
"Let me just get it over with," the guy speaks in that deep voice of his that you didn't even want him to sing, you just wanted him in the band.
"Guys, he will be the last one for today!" Gunwook speaks from the back.
You sighed and take your paper again. "Ok, tell us your name," you say and loudly added, "Matthew, can you fix the light please? It is blinding us."
The spotlight went back to the stage and the light falls on the guy.
You can take millions guesses but you can never say you think the deep voice owner would look like that.
He was medium height and stood there self consciously but impatiently. He had preppy outfit and too colorful that his clothes caught your attention first. Then you looked at his face. He was too cute that you gushed inside. His bangs were curly and it gave him a youthful look.
"Hi," you said with a huge smile. You couldn't help but find him cute.
"Hi," he says lowly and then you melted all over again.
"What did you say your name was?" Gyuvin asks.
"Kim Taerae," he answers while tapping his foot on the floor.
"The stage is yours," you smiled and crossed your fingers, hoping he won't be bad.
And boy were you not disappointed. He relaxed as soon as he started singing. He sang like an angel and had you in awe. Even the usually uninterested Ricky was mesmerized. You forgot it was an audition but a concert. He sings every note perfectly and you don't even know the song.
When he finishes, you all clapped after Gyuvin pulls you out of the heavenly dream you had while listening to him by clapping while standing up. Matthew and Gunwook started clapping loudly and Gunwook started whistling.
"Wow," you say. "You are perfect!"
"Thanks," he said nonchalantly which you guessed that he gets that more often.
Gyuvin then added, "But we are looking for a rock and roll type of music. Can you try that please?"
You crossed your fingers again, hoping he says he does.
"Sure," he replied. You held the urge to squeal and clap like a seal and instead you nod your head.
"Ok, the go ahead."
Taerae sure knew how to sing because he belted out every note perfectly and you were sure even the original singers wouldn't sing like that.
All of you clapped again as Taerae stood there looking at you blankly.
"Oh my God, you're in!" You said.
You have find the perfect singer. And maybe a little crush too.
