CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR - THE LIGHT

"WHAT'S UP, MADDY? You've been quiet all day." Xander said. "It's nothing. I'm just — I guess I'm a little sad, that's all." Madison replied. Xander, Chip and I looked at her. "I know I'm a Power Ranger, but come on. You guys are the ones that really, you know, lit it up. I don't feel like I did my share." Madison explained.

"Maddy, that's ridiculous. You're as much a part of the team as anyone." Xander informed. "Yeah." Chip and I agreed. Madison chuckled. "Thanks, but, um, let's get real here. Nick did the Catestros thing, Xander, you get all the spell codes. Chip, you saved Vida. Tanner, you have the most powerful magic out of all of us." Madison said.

"Oh, yeah." Chip said. " That was cool." Xander commented. "And Vida kicks butt, and I..." Madison trailed off. "Oh, actually, yeah. I did do something special. I got turned into a stone statue, and everyone had to come and save me. Awesome." Madison said.

"Well, that went well. I think we really cheered her up." Chip said as Xander high fived him. "No luck." Xander said to Vida. "Oh, Who are you guys? Do you know what happened to my employees?" Toby asked. "We're right here, boss." Xander replied. "Uh, no. I mean the ones who are never here for more than an hour without running off and not telling me where they're going." Toby said.

"Oh, sarcasam? Well, there's a simple explanation for that. Tanner?" Xander looked at me. "Uh, we like to go on... uh, Chip?" I said. "Uh, well, I-It's simple, boss. We're the Power Rangers, and we have to go fight the bad guys." Chip stated.

Toby stayed silent. "Yeah, yeah, right. You're the Power Rangers. That's good." Toby said as he laughed. "Power Rangers." Toby muttered as he went into his office. Xander and I looked at Chip. "The truth is always the hardest to believe." Chip commented. We were all at Root Core.

"Oh, come on, Daggeron. You can tell us. What's this meeting about?" Chip asked. "I'm in the dark as much as you are about this meeting." Daggeron replied. "Come on, Fire Heart! Come and get your oats!" Daggeron said as he tossed the bag of oats in. "He likes his oats toasted." Daggeron told us. "I'm glad you could all make it." Udonna said. "Is everything all right?" Nick asked.

"Yes... and no. Clare, you have been a wonderful apprentice. You'll make an amazing sorceress." Udonna started off. "Daggeron, I am so happy you have come back into my life." Udonna continued. "Vida, Chip, Xander, Tanner, Madison, you have far exceeded any expectations I had of you when we began this journey." Udonna said to Vida, Chip, Xander, Madison and I.

She finally turned to Nick. "Bowen, Nick, my son. You have grown into the man I always hoped you would be." Udonna finished as she had her hands on his shoulders. Nick chuckled. "What's going on? You're leaving?" Nick asked. "I am. Somewhere out there is my husband, Leanbow. I'm going to find him and bring him home." Udonna replied. "We'll go with you."  Vida said. "No, you're needed here. This is something I must do alone." Udonna informed.

We were all at the Rock Porium working. I was putting out new music records when Toby walked in. That's when our morphers suddenly beeped. "Uh, be right back, Toby!" Vida called as all of us left Rock Porium. We all raced to the location. "Nothing unusual." Chip said. "That's strange. The reading on the morpher said the dark energy here was off the chart." Xander stated.

That's when it suddenly got dark. "You were saying?" I asked. A curtain suddenly opened. "Now, this is a wild guess, but could it be referring to that?" Chip asked. Something suddenly appeared. "Now this — this could really be the end of the world." Chip continued to say. Daggeron then showed up. Monsters started appearing on the makeshift stairs.

"In all my years of magic, I have never seen anything like this." Daggeron stated. "I didn't want to hear that." Xander commented. Monsters continued appearing one by one. "Who are they?" Madison asked. Some lobster looking monster laughed evilly.

"People of the surface, let me introduce to you the destroyers of your world. Black Lance, Megahorn... Iron Sculpin, Itassis... Serpentina, Hekatoid... Oculous, Magma... Matoomba, Gekkor. We are the 10 Terrors of the underworld. We have come to punish you. Give us what you hold most sacred. Give us The Light!" Iron Sculpin said.

"We got to stop them." Nick said as we morphed and got into Legendary mode. We then got into our Megazord. "Manticore Megazord!" We shouted. "We're gonna give you a one-way ticket back to the underworld!" Nick claimed. We then began our attack. "Legend Striker Spin Attack!" We all yelled. They ended up blocking the attack.

"Hah, that was nothing! Take this!" Black Lance said as he attacked us and we ended up demorphing as we fell to the ground. "We will have The Light." Iron Sculpin informed. All of us got up. "The Light? What was he talking about?" Nick asked as the sky turned back to normal.

We ended up meeting Daggeron. "Yo, Lava Boy! Try and take us all on!" Nick said. All of us got out our staffs. We began fighting Magma. "Weak Rangers!" Magma exclaimed. "Okay, he seems to be just a little tougher than the others we've battled." Nick said. "Oh, you haven't seen anything yet!" Magma said. We fell to the ground from his attack. "You have lost your will to fight, so I no longer have business with you. I will go and plan for the destruction." Magma informed as he laughed and disappeared.

We were all at Root Core. "I can't believe we got blasted like that." Nick said. "Maybe there was something I could have done. Or I should've done—" Madison said. "Give it a rest, sis. We got our butts handed to us. Plan and simple." Vida told her. "Hey, you don't have to be so hard on Maddy." I said to Vida.

"Hey! Hey, guys!" Nick tried to get our attention. "You know you could try—" Chip started to say. "You could try staying out of it!" Vida shouted. "Anyone seen Clare?" Xander asked. "No!" We all shouted. "I asked a simple question. You don't have to bite my head off. " Xander said. "Well, go look for her yourself!" Vida said. "Hey!" Daggeron shouted as he closed the book.

"You sound like a bunch of spoiled children. We lost. We got our butts kicked. We are up against an enemy the likes we have never faced before. If we cannot be a unified force, we stand no chance at all. We do not blame each other. We do not take it out on each other. We wait for our next opportunity, and then we—" Daggeron stopped when we heard the sound of the crystal ball.

We arrived at the location. "The hills will soon erupt with lava!" Magma exclaimed. "We'll see about that!" All of us shouted. We then attacked him.

"Who dares?" Magma asked. "We do!" Daggeron answered. All of us were in Legendary mode. "All right, we fight. But to make this interesting, what say we play a little game?" Magma asked. "Game?" Nick questioned. Magma set a tower on fire. "Here are the rules. If I defeat all of you before the flame goes out on that radio tower, I win. But if even one of you is left standing when the flame goes out, you win!" Magma explained.

"Hah. How do we know we can trust you?" Chip asked. "You don't. But that's what makes this game fun. Shall we begin? Or maybe you don't feel like playing now?" Magma replied. "Count me in! Code one! Fire Storm!" Nick shouted. Magma blocked his attack.

"Code one! Rock Slide!" Xander shouted. Magma burned those as well. He then attacked us. "This game is a little one-sided, wouldn't you say?" Magma asked. "I have to do something. I am not giving up!" Madison said as she stood up. "Maddy?" Nick questioned.

"This game we're playing isn't just about us losing. If we lose, everyone loses. The world loses, and I am not gonna let that happen! Code one! Tidal Wave!" Madison shouted. Magma tried to blocked the attacked but he ended up being burned out. "Good job, Madison." Daggeron complimented.

"No big deal." Madison said. "Yes, it was. You saved everyone." Nick told her. "Good job, sis." Vida said. "Well done." Daggeron added. "Don't think you've won! All you've done is turn me back to my giant form." Magma informed as he grew big. "Legend of the Sky, Mystic Firebird!" Nick shouted.

"Legend of the Jungle, Mystic Lion!" Xander, Chip, Madison, Vida, and I shouted. We then changed into our Megazord. "Now I can finish you all!" Magma said. "Spin Attack!" We yelled. The attack ended up not working. "You should know by now your attacks don't work on me." Magma said. "Come on." Nick muttered.

That's when we saw the flame was out on the radio tower. "What? My heat! It's fading!" Magma exclaimed. That's when Magma suddenly got attacked. "What's going on?" Nick asked. "I made the rules of the game, and I lost!" Magma said.

"Man, I can't believe it! They destroyed one of their own!" Nick exclaimed. "The rules of darkness show no mercy. But you have 9 other Terrors to defeat. This is just the beginning!" Magma said as he was destroyed.

We were all walking in the park. "Well, I wasn't just gonna stand there and watch him destroy the city without putting up a fight." Madison explained. "Well, I've never seen such a big wall of water. I think I'd like to try and surf that." Xander said. "You were great, Maddy. I hope you feel like you've made a contribution to the team." Chip said.

"Contribution? Hmm. Actually, I felt like the whole team." Madison said. We all looked at her. She began running as we all chased after her. We arrived back at the Rock Porium. "So nice of you to show up. Are you sure you wouldn't rather be out doing whatever it is you do do when you're out doing what you do do?" Toby asked us.

"Sorry, boss." Xander said. "Well, apology not accepted. That's why I decided to hire a new employee." Toby informed as Leelee came out of the office. "Leelee!" We all shouted. "Yep, and she promised to not go running off all the time like some other people whose names I — Nick, Vida, Xander, Tanner, Chip, Madison — am not gonna mention." Toby said. "Toby, you can't hire her. Her mom is—" Nick started to say.

We all gave him the sign to stop talking. "As much as I hate Leelee, there's no way Nick can expose her without exposing that we were Power Rangers in the process." I thought. Nick cleared his throat. "Welcome onboard, Leelee." Nick said.

"Thanks." Leelee replied. "Love to stay and chat, but I have work to do." Leelee said. She then walked closer to us. "You keep my secret, I keep yours." Leelee told us as she winked and walked away. I grabbed a magazine next to me as I aimed it at her but Xander stopped me.

"Ugh." Nick, Chip, and Madison groaned.
