CHAPTER EIGHTEEN - DARK WISH, PART 1

𝓣𝙰𝙽𝙽𝙴𝚁

I WAS AT ROOT CORE with Nick, Chip, and Xander. Xander was using his magic to play chess. "Now, this is the life." Xander stated. "Isn't magic grand?" Xander asked. Nick laughed. "Yeah. Except for all the fighting." Nick replied.

"Eh." Xander agreed. "There's gotta be an easier way to defeat evil." Nick said. "Maybe we can eat our way to victory. Got any pizza, Udonna?" Chip asked. I groaned as I rubbed my head. "I have something that can help us. But I don't want to tell them that I can see the future." I think to myself. Udonna turned around.

"You can go to town for that." Udonna replied. Xander scoffed. "Why? There's an easier way." Chip said as he got out his morpher and used his magic as two pizzas appeared. "Yeah, nice work." Xander said as the three of them got up. I sat up and followed them.

"There's a time and a place for magic, Rangers." Udonna said. Fire Heart suddenly roared. "And a time and place to feed a dragon." Xander said as he took the pizza from Chip and tossed it to Fire Heart's cave. We all laughed as Fire Heart burped. Suddenly, Clare came out with pepperonis on her face.

"How about a little heads-up next time, huh, guys?" Clare said. "Give me some of that pizza." Xander said. "H-Hey, Clare. Uh, use your magic to clean. It's... way faster." Nick told her as he, Chip, and Xander were holding pizza slices. I was too sick to eat. "Uh, yeah, I guess so, but I get a real feeling of accomplishment when I do it the old-fashioned way. Hard work is really satisfying." Clare said.

The doors suddenly opened as Daggeron walked in. "It seems we have work to do. Clare, have the girls meet us." Daggeron said as Claire nodded. "More fighting." Nick stated as he set his pizza down. "Believe me, Nick. I'm not as happy about this either. Evil shows up at the worse possible times. And it had to be when I'm ill." I thought.

All of us appeared morphed. "There he is!" Xander exclaimed. "You dare stand before me? You will fall by my sword." Warmax said. "Let's get this over with!" Nick said as all of us grabbed our magic staffs. "Yes, let us do that." Warmax agreed. We began fighting him.

It was hard to concentrate on fighting Warmax when my head was spinning like crazy. Images were coming in and out. "I know this beast." Daggeron informed as he attacked Warmax. Daggeron ended up falling on the ground. "You are weak compared to me!" Warmax claimed. Chip and Vida began fighting Warmax as Chip fell to the ground from his attack. Warmax laughed. "He's strong!" Chip exclaimed. We all raced over to help Chip.

"Can't we use Jenji and wish him away?" Xander asked Daggeron. "It's not that easy. Pull it together." Daggeron replied. Xander grunted as he began fighting Warmax. But he ended up being thrown onto the ground.

"You are nothing! I will squash you!" Warmax exclaimed as he grew big. "You guys deal with Warmax. I'll go help Xander and join you later." Daggeron said. All of us got into our Zords. "Let's play ball!" Vida said as she turned herself into a soccer ball and headed towards Warmax.

Warmax threw her aside as Vida collided with Madison and they both fell to the ground. "Lightning fire!" Chip shouted as he aimed towards Warmax but ended up being attacked. "You want some?" Nick said but he got thrown to the ground. I tried to freeze him but I joined the others on the ground as well. "You call yourselves fighters?" Warmax asked.

"Warmax, we're not done yet." Xander informed as he and Daggeron showed up. "Xander, he's too powerful!" Nick warned. "Be careful!" Madison added. "Hyah! Now it's my turn." Xander said. "You worthles Power Ranger." Warmax commented.

"You are you calling worthless?" Xander asked as the eyes of his Zord turned red. "Full power!" Xander shouted as he destroyed Warmax. We were all back at Rootcore as I helped Xander with Chip. "Chip! Are you all right?" Udonna asked. "Yeah, just a little banged up." Chip replied. Xander and I set Chip down on the steps.

"I don't get it. We've got this powerful genie. We never ask for help." Vida stated. "It would make things easier." Madison agreed. That's when the crystal ball glowed. "Well?" Nick asked. "Jenji's not the answer. Rest up, Chip. We will need you. The rest of you, follow me." Daggeron said as the rest of us followed him. We saw another beast just like Warmax.

"It's Shrieka. I knew it." Daggeron said. Shrieka laughed. That's when Shrieka grew. "Guys, let's tighten up." Xander said as all of us headed to our Zord form. "Guys, we have to work together." Nick informed. "No problem. Ball mode." Vida said as she once again, turned herself into a pink soccer ball.

"Heads up!" Xander called as it went over to Madison as she kicked it with her tail. Daggeron caught it as he threw it to me. "Nick, go long!" I shouted as I kicked the ball towards him. "Yeah! Flip kick!" Nick shouted as the ball headed towards Shrieka. It didn't work.

"Ha! Is that all you got?" Shrieka asked. She shrieked as she attacked us. We were on the ground as each of us got attacked by Shrieka's shrieks. "Maybe now will be a good time for Jenji?" Madison suggested.

"No! We do it ourselves. Don't let up." Daggeron told her. "Daggeron is right, Madi. We have to fight this on our own." I stated. Chip then arrived as he fired at Shrieka but she ended up dodging. Chip landed on the ground.

"Did I miss much?" He asked. Shrieka ended up lifting Chip off the ground. "Take this, Ranger." She said as Chip fell to the ground. "Come on, guys. Get up!" Daggeron said. We got up but ended up getting attacked by Necrolai. "Just thought I'd drop in." Necrolai said. "Necrolai!" Daggeron exclaimed.

"I have magic, too, now." Necrolai said as she attacked us. Chip ended up attacking Shrieka as he demorphed. "Let's put our magic together." Daggeron said. All of us got out our magic staffs. "Fire as one! Fire!" We all fired at once towards Shrieka as she got destroyed. Necrolai ended up disappearing.

"Let's check on Chip." Daggeron said. "Are you okay?" Madison asked. "Did we win?" Chip asked, ignoring Madison's question. "Yeah, but it would have been easier using Jenji." Nick replied as Daggeron sighed. We were back at the Rock Porium. "Check this out." Nick said as he picked up a note that was left by Toby. "Thanks for making our one-year anniversary party so special. I expect nothing less than perfection." Nick read the letter.

"Toby." Nick finished. Vida sighed. "Look. I say we spread the magic, Get it done fast, and get some sleep. All in favor?" Vida asked. Everyone except Madison and I raised our hands. "Well, it's not very personal. Okay, you're right. Let's do it." Madison said.

"Tanner?" Xander looked at me. "Uh, you guys go ahead. I haven't been feeling well lately." I said. "You all right, mate?" Xander asked. "I'm fine. Just been having major headaches. I think it has something to do with my magic. You guys can set up the party though." I said. They all got out their morphers.

Rock music was playing as everyone was partying. "I think we did a great job." Nick commented. "Yeah!" Vida agreed. "Look how happy Toby is." Nick added. "I've never seen him so chatty." Madison stated. "We could never have done it without a little... magic." Xander said. "Everything is perfect. I wish everyday could be like this." Chip said. I groaned as I rubbed my head.

I kept seeing darkness and evil roaming around the streets in my visions. It was like what would happen if the Power Rangers weren't around. Everyone wanted Toby to make a speech. Toby finally got up and everyone cheered and clapped. The music stopped. "Thanks a— ooh." Toby said as the microphone hit him.

"Thanks for all coming along today to the Rock Porium!" Toby started off as everyone cheered. "It has been a truly magical first year." Toby continued. People cheered once more as our morphers went off. "And, uh, and none of it would have been possible without the help of my devoted employees." Toby said but everyone already left.

"There he is!" Nick said. "Glad you could make it, Rangers!" Fightoe exclaimed as he attacked us. Daggeron however dodged it. "Hold it right there, fiend!" Daggeron exclaimed. "I'm not afraid of you." Fightoe informed.

"Laser lamp! Fire!" Daggeron shouted. "What?" Fightoe said. That is until 50 Below caught Daggeron's attack. "50 Below! You got here just in time." Fightoe said. "Excellent." 50 Below said. "Get up, Rangers." Daggeron told us as we got up.

"Now that I am here... you will be defeated." 50 Below stated. "Who are these guys? They're so much stronger." Nick said. "You got that right, Ranger. We are from the oblivion." 50 Below informed. "Try this! Magic Staff!" Nick shouted as he headed towards him.

They began fighting until Nick got thrown to the ground. "Magic Staff Tornado Power!" Vida shouted but she got thrown to the ground as well. "Crossbow!" Chip went next. He fired at 50 Below but 50 Below reflected his attack as it hit him instead. Xander, Madison, and I got out our staffs.

"Come on, Maddy, Tanner." Xander said. The three of us fired our attacks but 50 Below fired them back at us. "Ice attack!" 50 Below shouted. All of us dodged just in time. 50 Below slid on the ice as he attacked us.

We fell to the ground. "Hurry! Get up, Rangers." Daggeron said. "Daggeron, do something!" Xander said. "Use Jenji! We're exhausted!" Nick added. "All right." Daggeron finally agreed. I groaned in pain as my head was spinning once more.

"You are all worthless and weak." 50 Below stated. "I've got a bad feeling about this." Daggeron said. "Yeah? You're not the only one." Jenji agreed as he popped up from the lamp. "Jenji's Shining Attack!" Daggeron shouted.

That's when Jenji got attacked. "He's mine!" Fightoe said as he captured Jenji. "What? Jenji!" Daggeron said. "They caught Jenji!" Madison exclaimed. "You lose!" 50 Below said as he attacked Daggeron and he got thrown in the water. 50 Below and Fightoe then disappeared. We were all back at Rootcore.

"They captured him?" Udonna asked. "There was nothing else we could do." Nick said. "So you relied on Jenji?" Udonna asked. "We had to. There was no other choice." Xander replied. "Now that they've captured him... they can wish for anything." Madison said. "I wonder what they're gonna wish for." Chip wondered out loud.

"From the visions I'm getting, it's bad..." I thought. "We must be prepared for the worst." Daggeron stated. Xander stumbled out of the tree as I caught him. Chip followed him.

"Hang on a sec, guys. I'm not completely out yet." Chip stated. "Everybody grab hold." Nick said. We all grabbed hold of Chip as we yanked him out of the tree. Suddenly, the wind was blowing as everything turned dark. "Feel that?" Madison asked. "Felt it, all right — right to the bone." Vida replied.

"What's that?" Chip asked. I watched as the sky turned dark.
