(y/n)'s POV
"Ready, you are not." Master Yoda shook his head when I had asked him if I could have a padawan. I was surprised by his response, I really thought that I was. What else could I possibly do to prove myself to be ready?
"Can I ask why?" All I wanted was to be a teacher just as Anakin is to Ahsoka. I didn't think it was fair that I wasn't being granted this after everything I've done to prove myself to him, and the council.
"Much training you still need." Was all he said with a nod, of course he wouldn't give me a straight response. He always had to talk in riddles. Which was incredibly aggravating.
I stood up and bowed, "Thank you for your time." I didn't give him much time to respond, I quickly left his room and stormed away. I felt like I wanted to cry, I thought that being able to teach a padawan would be a great privilege and to be denied it hurt.
They don't trust you.
That's not true.
"Hey are you okay?" A familiar voice came from behind me and I sighed with relief, glad I wasn't going to be wallowing in my thoughts.
"Hey Lida," I smiled at my dear friend who had a look of concern on her face, "I'm okay just a little frustrated." I sighed.
"Come to my office, tell me all about it." She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and we walked down the hallway towards her office. Once inside I sat on the chair in front of her desk and she sat behind it. "So what happened?" She leaned in her chair and placed her feet up on the desk.
"I asked Master Yoda if I could get a padawan but he shot me down." I shrugged, would I ever be considered ready to them?
"Now why would he do that? If anyone is capable of perfectly training a padawan it's you. You're the greatest Jedi they have." She praised me with a smile and I felt myself feel a little better.
"He said I had more training. Whatever that means.." I rolled my eyes while leaning back in my chair, "I don't know how much more I can train, I'm ready I know I am. I just wish he saw that." I sighed and rubbed my temples, I was beginning to form a headache.
"Do you think it's because you aren't trusted?" She questioned and my eyes snapped to hers quickly.
"What, no I'm sure they trust me."I shook my head, I haven't given them a reason not to. I think. "I've been loyal to the council since I've been here, besides my secret marriage." I smiled a little at the thought of my husband.
"You're right, I'm sorry. I just thought with the past you have that he might be letting that affect his judgement against you. Which is unfair of course." She rolled her eyes and took a sip from a cup of water she had on her desk.
That can't be true could it? I thought my past was put behind me, no that couldn't be the reason. I had to believe they trusted me. But.. then I thought of Ahsoka, they turned their backs on her when she needed them the most. Was that gonna happen to me? Were they doubting me? My mind was running crazy with these dangerous thoughts and I took a deep breathe to wash them away.
"My past is behind me." I assured her, "Whatever decision Master Yoda made I have faith it wasn't because of that." I felt like I was trying to convince myself more that her.
"If you say so." She took another sip from her cup and all I wanted now was to go see Anakin and talk to him about this. I know Lida wasn't having any bad intentions but I couldn't help the negative feelings she was causing me to feel.
I stood up from the chair, "I should go, I'm suppose to meet Anakin in the training room." I gave her a small smile and she nodded.
"See you later (y/n)." She set her cup on the desk and leaned forward towards her computer.
Reys/Lidas POV
She quickly left the room and as soon as she was out of my vision, I let a smile creep up on my face.
My com started blaring and I answered it hoping to see my brother but sadly, it was Sidious. "It appears we have a problem. Get a ship ready quickly, we don't have much time."
(y/n)'s POV
"Well that's stupid." Anakin looked annoyed when I told him what happened with Master Yoda. Him and Ahsoka were currently sparring as we were having this conversation. He jumped to the side to deflect her attack and kicked her back knee causing her to fall to the ground and she sighed with frustration. "Don't worry snips, you'll beat me one day," he put his weapon back on his belt, "Just not today." He smirked causing her to roll her eyes and then he walked to me to give me his full undivided attention.
"Do you think it's because the council doesn't trust me?" I asked him hoping he'd say the complete opposite of Lida. I didn't want to believe the people I gave my life to didn't trust me. Like Ahsoka once said, how can I trust myself if they don't?
He placed his gloved hand on my shoulder and rubbed it gently, "Don't be silly, they do trust you. There's always a method to Master Yoda's madness wether we agree with it or not. You'll be a teacher one day, you just need patience." He smiled down at me and poked my nose with his finger causing me to smile. I hope he was right.
"It's time!" Obi-Wan ran into the training room.
"For?" Anakin and I both responded simultaneously.
"The clones are done." He smiled proudly and my eyes widened.
"Already?" Wow that was fast, it took a few weeks but I expected it to take another month at least.
"Ari is a miracle worker, the council is sending all four of us to Kamino now to get answers. Let's go." He hurried out of the room, we all ran out after him. We've been waiting for this day, we've been waiting to finally get the answers we desperately wanted. Which is why we wasted no time, made zero stops, and went straight to our ship.
~*~•~*~
Our arrival to Kamino isn't exactly what we were hoping it would be. The place was up in flames, we all frantically checked any rooms that we could that were safe enough to enter to find anyone. Anyone alive that is.. bodies of clones and the Kaminoans were scattered everywhere.
"They must have found out that we knew." Anakin came up next to me as we both checked the area for survivors.
"But how?" I almost whispered, I was in disbelief. How could they have found out that we knew. For weeks the secret was kept hidden, even from me. But now, the day we come, it's destroyed.
"We found one!" The voice of Ahsoka filled the room and Obi-Wan was following quickly behind her with a Kaminoan over his shoulder. He gently set them down and we all knelt next to her.
"Who did this to you?" I asked her and we could tell she was barely holding onto her life. Her breathing raspy and she had a long deep cut along her stomach. "We know you placed chips in the clones that were meant to destroy the Jedi, please tell us who put you up to it."
"S-Senate.." she choked out and her eyes began to close.
"What?" Anakin smacked her lightly and her eyes shot back open, "Did you say the senate?"
"Y-yes, traitor in the s-senate." She choked out one last time before her body went frail and she was gone for good. A traitor in the senate? That cant be true..
A piece of debris fell from the ceiling a few feet behind us. This place was falling apart, "We have to go now!" Obi-Wan stood up and we all followed him as we ran out of the place, pieces of debris on fire falling all around us. We managed to make it outside and back to our ship, I got slightly burned on my right arm from a part of the ceiling falling to close to me and I came in contact with the flame. I grabbed a cold press and placed on me as Anakin lifted up the ship to get us away from the chaos.
"A traitor in the Senate.. who could it be?" Ahsoka was leaning against the wall in deep thought.
"I don't know, this news is rather unsettling, it could be any of them, we have to go to the council with this and only them. No one outside of the Jedi can know this or there will be chaos on Coruscant." Obi-Wan sighed as he stroked his beard. The ship was filled with tension. We were all worried and nervous. What if it's a friend? What if it's someone we really trust? And the biggest question of all, why?
"And it may even be beneficial if they don't know we are onto them. For all they know, we showed up here to a massacre and got no further information." I added and they all nodded in agreement. Anakin's eyes went from looking at the ship floor, to mine, then to the burn mark on my arm. He stood up and walked over to me.
"Come on let's clean that." He grabbed my metal hand and pulled me to the washroom on the ship. He grabbed the press from my hand and started to do it himself, "Does it hurt?" He asked eyeing the wound.
"A little." I admitted.
"I've been practicing something on my own, can I try it on you?" He smiled into my eyes and I nodded. I was curious to what he was talking about.
He took the press away and placed his flesh hand above the burn. He closed his eyes and I started to get an idea of what he was trying to do. Something he's only ever done once before but not able to do alone. It was a trick he had yet to master.
A yellow light appeared on his hand and I smiled as the pain subsided and the wound disappeared. He dropped his hand and opened his eyes, looking extremely proud of himself.
"You're just full of surprises." I chuckled as I poked the skin where the burn used to be.
"I wanted to learn so I could always keep you from being in pain." He brought his hand up and cupped my cheek before pressing a soft kiss on my lips.
"Thank you." I whispered against his lips and we continued to kiss. It started getting a little out of hand but we were pulled out of our desires by a knock on the door.
"Not on the ship." Obi-Wan snapped and we both let out a chuckle and exited the washroom.
~*~•~*~
"Disturbing this revelation is." Master Yoda sighed when Obi-Wan broke the news, "Great caution we must take."
"How are we going to figure out who it is before they try something else? Especially now that they know they're greatest weapon has been taken from them?" Master Plo questioned with worry in his voice. The whole council looked uneasy. The idea that someone who is out to destroy us is hiding inside of the Senate and has been there this entire time is unsettling.
"Meditate on this I will. The correct course of action we must take, if successful we want to be." Yoda spoke but his eyes were distant, he was lost in thought.
"For now, this news stays in this room. No one can know and we will inform everyone once a plan is in place." Master Windu spoke with authority in his voice. "Continue your daily lives like nothing has changed, they cannot know we are into them or all hope will be lost."
"Of course Master Windu." Obi-Wan nodded in his direction.
"We understand." Anakin and I both bowed in respect towards the council before leaving. Obi-Wan stayed behind but Ahsoka was following closely behind us. We were headed to our speeder, there's one person we needed to see, the one person we knew we could trust with this information, someone to have on the inside to know the truth, Padme.
Reys POV
"Are you sure you got everyone?" Sidious asked me in a grumpy tone. He was furious that the council found out about order 66. It was his 'main event' as he liked to call it.
"Positive and I didn't use a light saber just as you requested." I sighed, I killed everyone on Kamino, it wasn't an easy job but little did Sidious know, I had Maul help me.
"Those damn Jedi ruin everything." He sighed and I could feel the anger resinating off of him. "It can still work, I can still make it happen." He spoke low almost like he was talking to himself instead of me. "Skywalker will be powerful enough to make it happen for me." He sat in his chair and he looked calmer than before. I hated how much he yearned for Anakin and his abilities. I hated how this bastard as made me feel like I was lesser than myself.
"I agree sir." I lied, the time will come. It's coming soon. I will have what I want and he will regret ever pushing me to the sidelines.
