CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO - ARISE THE CRYSTAL EYES

𝓣𝙰𝙽𝙽𝙴𝚁

WE WERE ALL AT JKP, as all of us were setting up for the day. "Hey, guys. How about a little powwow?" RJ asked. He set down a newspaper on the counter. "This archaeologist has found five crystal eyes." RJ said. "Five what?" Theo asked as all of us sat down in front of him.

"Crystal eyes. During the Beast Wars 10,000 years ago, the phantoms were the baddest beasts around, but one by one, the masters destroyed all eight of them, saving the human race. When each beast was destroyed, a crystal eye was left in the ashes about this size." RJ explained as he took an apple that Dominic was about to eat as an example.

"Tonight, the stars are in a very rare alignment. If the starlight shines through the eye — bingo, bango, bongo — the Phantom Beasts are brought back to life." RJ finished. "If Dai Shi gets his hands on those crystal eyes..." Lily started off. "We've got a whole army of Phantom Beasts to worry about." Theo finished.

"Precisely. There are eight crystal eyes. She only has five. That means Dai Shi may already have three." RJ stated. "Dr. Silvia Jennings — She's probably got no idea what they are." Dominic said. "We have to make sure those crystal eyes are safe tonight." Casey informed as RJ nodded in agreement.

I decided to tag along with Casey to Dr. Jennings Research Center. I was wearing a green tank top with my black leather jacket that Xander got me over it. "The retinal scan was negative for crocodile." Dr. Jennings was saying.

"Iguana." Casey said. "Pardon me?" Dr. Jennings asked. "I read that you hadn't identified one of the eyes. That one is an iguana's eye." Casey explained. "I've been trying to determine that for a long time. I'm Silvia Jennings." She said as she shook both mine and Casey's hand.

"How did you know?" She asked. Both Casey and I sat down in front of her. "I went to a school that specialized in animal spirits. My teacher used to always say that everyone has an animal spirit inside." Casey said. "Really? My father used to say, "Live in harmony with your animal spirit, and you'll be in harmony with yourself."" Silvia said.

"Gentle, playful, likes water—" Casey started to say as he saw a picture of her in water. "Your spirit is a dolphin." Casey finished. "Right again." Silvia said. Casey looked around. "Listen. I know this sounds crazy, but there are certain people who'd do anything to get their hands on your crystal eyes." Casey said. "Why?" Silvia asked.

"The eyes have powers — powers that are dangerous in the wrong hands." Casey replied. "What kind of powers?" Silvia asked. "Well, I-I can't tell you." Casey answered. "Okay, then, who's after them?" Silvia asked.

"Well, I can't tell you that, either. I'm asking you, please. Give us the crystal eyes, just till the danger passes." Casey said. Silvia chuckled. "You must be kidding. I've spent my entire life searching for them. So did my father. And now you're asking me to hand over my life's work?" Silvia asked.

"None of that will matter if they come, okay? And nothing you can do will stop them." Casey informed. Silvia stood up. "The answer is no! Now, I have other appointments." She said. Casey said nothing as he got up and left. I followed him. Casey and I came down the stairs where RJ was waiting for us.

"No way she's giving them up. If Dai Shi comes here, she's gonna get hurt. I'll stay and keep watch." Casey told him. "I'll stay with Casey. Now that I got my magic back, it might be useful in a situation like this." I added. "Casey, Tanner, if Dai Shi gets those eyes, everyone's gonna get hurt. Listen, Theo called. Rinshi trouble. I have to go." RJ informed as we started walking towards the exit as we stopped once more. 

"Whatever happens, you and Tanner protect the eyes first, right?" RJ asked. "Yeah. Right." Casey replied. "Of course." I added. "Okay." RJ said as he left. Casey and I were sitting down. "Stop right there!" A security guard yelled. Two security guards were chasing after Camille who had a case in her hand. My guess is where the crystal eyes were in. Camille attacked them. Casey and I tried to attack Camille but we missed and the box flew out of her hand.

"Let me go!" I heard Silvia shout. We saw Rinshi carrying Silvia out. Mine and Casey's eyes looked at Silvia and the box and then at each other. We both nodded as we headed to save Silvia. Both of us kicked the Rinshi away from her. "You okay?" Casey asked. "I'm fine, but the eyes..." Silvia started off. I followed Casey as we chased after Camille.

Casey and I were both morphed. "Where'd she go?" Casey asked. Camille chuckled as she walked away. Both Casey and I hid behind a tree as Dai Shi appeared. "Show me." Dai Shi ordered. Camille opened the case as Dai Shi laughed evilly. "Oh, no." Casey said. "Shh!" I whispered. "Yes — all eight." Dai Shi said.

Dai Shi took the box as Camille bowed. A twig snapped as Dai Shi turned around. "Jungle Master Mode!" Casey and I shouted. Dai Shi morphed as he blocked our attack.

"What are you doing so far out in the woods, Red and Green Ranger? You two must be lost." Dai Shi stated. "Far from it." Casey said. "We know you have the crystal eyes, and you're not leaving here with them." I informed. Dai Shi broke apart from us.

"Phantom Beasts are not coming back." Casey said. "Never say never." Dai Shi said as Casey and I began fighting him. Casey and I were still fighting Dai Shi. "The Phantom Beasts will return." Dai Shi claimed. "Not without a fight, Jarrod." Casey said. "And a fight is exactly what you're gonna get." Dai Shi said. Jellica walked away with the cystal eyes.

Dai Shi attacked her as the crystal eyes fell. We stopped Dai Shi from going after Jellica. "Your friends have been destroyed." Dai Shi claimed. "My friends can defeat your Rinshi." Casey informed. "Rinshi, yes, but they are battling Grizzaka. They haven't a chance against him." Dai Shi said. "Grizzaka?" Casey questioned. "Zocato!" Dai Shi yelled as Casey and I fell back.

Casey ended up grabbing the crystal eyes from Dai Shi. Casey and I arrived just in time before Grizzaka attacked the others. "Casey!" Theo exclaimed. "And Tanner!" Lily added.

"You're about to get a dose of your own medicine. Claw Booster!" Casey shouted. Casey and I ended up throwing Grizzaka back. "Dom, let me have your morpher." Casey said. "Really? Okay." Dominic said. He passed his morpher to Casey as he caught it.

"Tiger and Rhino combine." Casey said. "Hey! How did you know that would work?" Dominic asked. "I didn't know until now." Casey replied. "Ha! It won't work." Grizzaka said. Casey and Grizzaka then started fighting.

Grizzaka finally ended up being on the ground as we all went up to congratuate him. "Casey, how did you do that?" Lily asked. "Well, I figured Grizzaka's too powerful for any of us alone, but now we have Dominic's Rhino Power." Casey replied. "Casey's right. That's what made the difference. It's all about the Rhino." RJ said. "But I'll need my morpher back." Dominic told Casey.

Casey handed Dominic back his morpher. "Hey, Case, I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself with this thing." Dominic stated. "Yeah, right. You ready to do this?" Casey asked. "Yeah." We all replied.

"You'd better be ready." Grizzaka exclaimed. "Firing jets!" We all shouted. "Claw Cannon!" Casey, Theo, Lily and I shouted. "Wolf Beam!" RJ shouted. "Rhino Blade!" Dominic yelled. We all fired at Grizzaka until we finally destroyed him. "Hold on. We have seen this before." Casey said.

"That was nothing. I won't let it happen again. I'm the strongest fighter there will ever be!" Grizzaka exclaimed as he grew. We all created our Megazords. Grizzaka started attacking us. "Zocato!" Grizzaka shouted as we flew backwards. Dominic then came and created his Megazord.

Grizzaka and Dominic began fighting. "Guys, you ready to end this?" Dominic asked. We appeared behind Dominic. "Right with you, Dom." Theo said. All of us flew Grizzaka back. "Animal spirits!" Casey shouted as all of our animal spirits came together. "Stampede!" We all yelled. "Jungle Master Spin Attack!" We all shouted as Grizzaka was destroyed.

Casey and I ended up returning the five crystal eyes to Silvia. "I don't know how to thank you. I never thought I'd see them again. I'm sorry I didn't listen to you before." Silvia said.

"No problem. Perfect strangers walk in and want your life's work? I'd probably do the same thing." Casey stated. "Well, you're not perfect strangers anymore. Keep them safe for me, please, just until the danger has passed." Silvia said as she hands the box back to Casey. "Thanks. I was hoping you'd ask." Casey said. "No. Thank you." Silvia said.

"Oh, and by the way, I've figured it out. Your spirit is the tiger. And your friend's spirit is the dragon." Silvia told us. Casey and I both chuckled. "She wants us to take care of them." Casey said.

"Oh, smart lady. You know, when you and Tanner were fighting Camille and you two decided to save Dr. Jennings, you could've lost the eyes." RJ stated. "Maybe. But my instincts told me it was a gamble I could win." Casey informed. "Oh, well, then, you've got some sharp instincts, and you might've been a little lucky, too. I just wish I knew where those other three cystal eyes were." RJ said.

That's when I saw something. Jellica was holding the three crystal eyes as she laughed.

"I think I know. And something big is going to come..."
