CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE - A MYSTIC RETURN

𝓣𝙰𝙽𝙽𝙴𝚁

(Tanner's Dream)

I was walking around the magical forest of Briarwood. But my color was different. Instead of Silver, I was the Red Ranger. I had a cape and a symbol on the right side of my chest. I was looking for something... or rather, someone.

"Xander... where are you?" I thought to myself. War raged on around me. Until I finally spotted the love of my life under a bunch of rocks. He was in Ranger form. "T-Tanner..." Xander stuttered. I lifted the rocks out from him.

"I'm here, love. What happened?" I asked. "Koragg attacked me. Bad. I'm dying, Tanner." Xander informed. "Don't you say that. Don't you dare say that, Xander!" I shouted. That's when Xander demorphed. "I can feel my magic fading away. Y-You have to defeat The Master, Tanner." He said.

I demorphed as well. Xander grabbed his staff and handed it to me. "There's no magic in it. But keep it as a memory of me." He said. "Don't leave me, Xander. I wanted to start a life with you. You can't go." I told him. He smiled. "I love you, Tanner." Xander said. A tear rolled down my cheek. "I love you, too. I always will." I informed. Xander took his last breath as his body went limp.

I held his staff in my hand as I morphed into the Red Ranger once more. More angry then I was before.

"All of them are gonna pay..."

(End Dream)

I JOLTED AWAKE AS I realized that it was just a dream and it was morning. "What a weird dream to have..." I thought. I got up and sighed. I looked at the picture that was on my nightstand.

It was of the Mystic Rangers. Nick, Chip, Vida, Madison, Daggeron, Jenji, Leanbow, Udonna, Clare, and most importantly, Xander. Xander had his arm wrapped around my shoulder. I ran my finger over the picture and smiled.

"I miss you guys..." I thought. I then looked at the time. "I'm late for work!" I think to myself. "Tanner? Are you up here?" Fran asked. She walked up to my room. "Oh, hey Fran." I greeted, still holding the picture.

"The others noticed that you didn't show up for work so they sent me up here to see if you were here." Fran explained. "Yeah, I overslept." I said. "What's that you're holding?" Fran asked. "Oh, just a picture of some old friends." I replied. "May I?" Fran asked. I handed her the picture as I walked next to her. "What are their names?" She asked.

I pointed to Nick. "This guy is Nick Russell. His true name is Bowen. But we just continued calling him Nick after we found his birth parents because Bowen didn't sound right." I continued down the line.

"The two girls are Madison and Vida Rocca. They're sisters. Madison is Nick's girlfriend." I explained. I then pointed to Chip. "This is Chip Thorn. He's Vida's boyfriend. And the biggest nerd that you would ever meet." Fran laughed. I finally, pointed to Xander.

"And finally, this is Xander Bly. He's Australian and the biggest goof-off you would meet. Seriously, he and Dominic would make such good friends. He also tries to talk his way out of trouble. And... he's also my boyfriend." I added. Fran raised an eyebrow. "You're... gay?" She asked. I nodded.

"Yep. Xander and I started dating at the end of last year. Then I ended up going on tour and starting my motorcross career and we've been long distance until I return home." I replied. Fran pointed to Leanbow, Udonna, Daggeron, Jenji, and Clare. "What about these four? They look too old to be teenagers. And I don't want to ask about that weird looking cat." Fran said.

I pointed to Leanbow and Udonna. "That's Leanbow and Udonna. Nick's biological parents. Udonna taught me everything I know." I said. I pointed to Daggeron and Jenji.

"This is Daggeron and Jenji. Jenji is a genie who could grant wishes." I explained. Fran had a shocked look on her face. "Yeah, I didn't believe it either." I told her. "Finally, this is Clare. She was Udonna's apprentice." I finished. Fran set the picture down.

I followed her down to head to work after I got dressed. "Tanner, you're finally here." Casey said. "Yeah, sorry guys. I overslept." I informed. "You okay, Tanner? You look ill." Theo asked, worriedly. "I'm fine. Just have been homesick recently." I replied.

It wasn't like I was lying. I have been homesick. That's when our morphers suddenly beeped. All of us raced out and once we arrived we saw Dai Shi and Camille along with a few Rinshi. "Rangers! Take a good look at my new found power!" Dai Shi exclaimed. "Ready?" Casey asked. "Ready." We all replied. "Jungle Beast, Spirit Unleashed!" We all shouted.

We morphed and he morphed into his form as well. We began fighting him but he threw us all on the ground. "Zocato!" Dai Shi yelled as black energy came out of him, forcing the others back. "Guys!" I shouted.

I turned to face him. "You and me, Green Ranger. It's time to end this." Dai Shi stated. "Well, that's one thing we can agree on." I said. I began fighting him. Punch after punch and kick after kick. I felt like I was going to pass out. Dai Shi energy punched me as I flew back and fell to the ground as I demorphed.

"Get up, Tanner!" I heard Casey shout. I tried to get up but I couldn't. The last thing I saw was Dai Shi walking towards me as I closed my eyes. Next thing I knew, I woke up to a familiar setting. "Root Core? What am I doing here?" I think to myself. "Hello, Tanner." I jumped at the sudden voice as I saw a familiar woman.

"Udonna..." I said. "What am I doing here?" I asked. "I've noticed that you've become a Ranger again." Udonna stated. "I will always be apart of the Mystic Force, Udonna. I haven't abandoned—" I started to say. "Breathe, Tanner. That is not why you're here. You cannot defeat Dai Shi on your own. And I feel you have a greater destiny. Do you still have your wand?" She asked.

I reached towards my back pocket as I pulled out a familiar looking cell phone. "Place it on your emblem." Udonna instructed. I placed my cell phone on the silver spot on the crystal ball table.

Magic came from the crystal ball as it went in my wand. "Now that you got your magic back. I must warn you. Your visions will be returning as well. And you'll be more powerful." Udonna warned. "Thanks, Udonna." I said. "Now go, help your friends." Udonna said as I disappeared.

When I returned. I was invisible. I could see an ice decoy of myself on the ground. "No! Tanner!" Casey shouted. "The fall of the Green Ranger. Who would've thought." Dai Shi said. That's when I decided to appear. "I heard my name. You missed me, didn't you, Dai Shi?" I asked.

I was wearing my black cape with silver linings. My original outfit. The decoy of me then shattered. Dai Shi turned to me. "So you're back. I guess you want to continue getting thrown around." Dai Shi said. "Am I seeing things or does Tanner look different?" Theo asked. "You're definitely not seeing things, Theo." Lily replied.

"Yeah, not gonna happen. I'll give you five seconds to get out of here. Or else I'll have to throw you around." I informed. "Tanner, what are you talking about?" Lily asked.

"We could barely fight him together, what makes you think you can do it alone?" Theo asked as well. "You'll see." I answered. "If both you and your friends cannot beat me, Green Ranger, then what makes you think you can? I am the king! I am the Mighty Lion!" Dai Shi shouted as he let out more power.

I chuckled, obviously not impressed. "Is that so?" I asked. "Well, lions might be kings now, but do you know who ruled before them?" I asked. I got out my wand from my back pocket as I opened my cell phone. "The Titans." I finished. I pressed three buttons and shouted the words that I thought I would never say again.

"Magical Source, Mystic Force!" I yelled. I morphed into my old Silver Ranger form. "Cold as Ice — Silver Mystic Ranger!" I shouted. "What?" Dai Shi yelled, shocked. "Whoa, I was not expecting that." Dominic commented. "He's a Mystic Ranger?!" Casey exclaimed. Everyone was shocked except RJ. "I would run if I were you, Dai Shi." I started off. "I've destroyed some big time villains in this form." I finished.

And then I headed for him. Dai Shi barely had time to react. By the time he started to fight back, he was already worn out. I grabbed my wand. "Magic Staff! Ice Power!" I shouted as ice started heading towards him. But he ended up blocking it.

"Zocato!" Dai Shi yelled as I flew back. I got up and glared at him. My magic power was supposed to be the strongest. And to have Dai Shi not be affected by it really bugged me. "Is that all you've got?" Dai Shi asked. "Actually, no." I replied as I flipped my cape back and got out my morpher.

"Legendary Source, Mystic Force!" I shouted. My suit then changed. My lion staff appeared in my hand. "Element of Ice — Silver Legend Warrior!" I shouted. "Code 1! Ice Avalanche!" I yelled as an ice avalanche appeared and attacked Dai Shi as he turned back into his human form.

He got up with the help of Camille. "Don't think this is over, Silver Ranger." Dai Shi said as he and Camille retreated. I turned around to see everyone's shocked faces as I demorphed. "I have a lot of explaining to do..." I thought.

"So let me get this straight." Theo started off as we entered the Loft. "You were the Silver Mystic Ranger and you never told us? And don't say that I—" Theo started to say. "You never asked." I interrupted him. "Seriously?" Theo asked as everyone laughed.

"In all seriousness though, why didn't you tell us?" Lily asked. I shrugged. "I had no reason too. Besides, RJ was the only one who knew." I replied. "And you were also the Purple Dino Ranger? Dude, you're a legend!" Dominic added. I chuckled.

"That was actually a mistake. Though I did meet some great people." I said, thinking of Conner, Ethan, Kira, Trent, and Dr. Oliver. "Wait." Fran said, suddenly realizing something. "The people in the photo with you! I knew I recognized them. They're the Mystic Rangers!" Fran said.

"Correct." I told her. Fran ran up and came back with my photo. "These are them." She told everyone. Everyone looked at the photo. "The guy that has his arm around you. That's your boyfriend?" Casey asked. "Yep. That's Xander. Though when that photo was taken he was only my best friend at the time." I replied.

"Aw, you two look so cute together." Lily complimented. Casey was looking at her. It was the same look Xander always gives me, the look that he's in love.

"I can name two people who also look cute together." I told her. Both Lily and Casey blushed.

"Shut up, Tanner!" Both of them said.

I chuckled. "I love teasing the both of you."
