"Pardon?! You're telling me you actually went to the Dwarf's Mine in search of a magestone?"

Crowley was staring at the five of you with widened eyes.

"Uhm...? Yes...?" All of you answered at the same time, looking at the headmage as if he was stupid.

"I didn't expect that you'd seriously do it. And never in my wildest imaginings did I think you would actually come back with a magestone! And here I spent all evening preparing your expulsion documents."

He muttered the last sentence very quietly in hope all of you didn't hear. But unfortunately for him, you did.

Grim -who was previously side-eyeing the man- turned towards him. "Are you serious?! While we were fightin' some crazy monster for you, you were expelling us?!"

This caught the adult's attention. ""Monster"...?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head.

"Yeah. There was a monster, all right." Ace groaned loudly before continuing. "A big, nasty one. It nearly killed us!"

"Would you kindly relate this story in full? Lets head to my office to speak of the matter." Crowley asked, specifically looking at you and Yuu.

You all entered into the headmages office. You took a quick glance around the rather large room and took in your surroundings.

There was a brown hardwood desk at the end of a purple carpet. Behind the desk were seven portraits which you guessed to be of the Great Seven. Aside from this the room was rather empty.

Yuu was explaining to the headmage what happened, and you were silently glancing out of the window.

"So a mysterious monster was living in the mines. And the five of you worked together to destroy it, and then brought its magestone back to me?" Crowley asked with a hand raised to his chin.

You finally shifted your gaze from the window towards the man and nodded along with Yuu.

"I don't know if I'd call it "working together."" Ace held a hand up to the back of his head and shrugged.

Deuce with crossed arms seemed to agree with the statement. "It was more like we just happened to share the same goal at the same time..."

"Oh gracious..." the headmage stuttered as he stared at the palms of his hands. "Ohhh... Ohhhhhhhhhhh!"

The masked adult suddenly started sobbing loudly like a new born baby. Your ears fell flat on your head at the suddenness of the situation.

You stared at the man. You were kind of uncomfortable with the man's wailing because it was more him making random noises then anything else.

Grim looked just as shocked as you did, and slowly shuffled towards you. Away from the man. "What is this guy's deal?! Burtin' into tears in public? At this age?!"

"In all the decades I've worked at this school..." the crow started through his sobs. "The day has finally come when the students of Night Raven College have joined hands together to defeat a common foe!"

"Whoa! No! No way would I join hands with that guy?" Ace yelled out as soon as he could.

Ace scoffed. "Okay, one, there was no joining hands. Gross. And two, exactly HOW old are you, headmage?"

Crowley ignored the duo's commentary and continued his rant. "At this moment, I am moved beyond words. This incident has proven my hopes were justified. Yuu, my doubts are alloyed! For you... You possess the talents of a beastmaster!"

An awkward silence fell over the room.

Yuu finally processed the man's words. "A... beastmaster?!"

Yuu was met by a firm nod from the headmage. "My students have all been selected by the Dark Mirror for their exceptional talent and potential. But great talent begets great pride and big egos."

He paused for a moment and sighed. "Most are so self-reliant and self-centered that they never even consider cooperating with others."

Grim hugged and crossed his arms. "You make it sound like that's a bad thing."

The cat was ignored as the headmage continued. "But you, Yuu, possess no magic. Yet in spite of that - or perhaps because of it - you were able to convince those who CAN use magic to work together for a common goal. The everyday, humdrum mundanity you possess may be exactly what Night Raven College needs! -"

He smiled happily and then looked at you. "- And you've got yourself a lovely guard dog already! Y/n and Grum are perfect examples of how good your beast taming works! Anyways, having someone with such unique powers as our little furry eared lady here would certainly be convenient for you!

"But non of those words are good things?" Ace interupted.

"Yuu... I am convinced that people like you ste necessary for the future of this school. My educator's intuition tells me so." He proudly placed his hands on his hips.

He then turned towards the two freshman. "Trappola, Spade - I hereby revoke your pending expulsions! Furthermore, Yuu and Y/n... I am granting you the qualifications necessary to attend school at Night Raven College!"

"WHAT?" All five of your mouths fell open at the words of the masked man. You didn't know whether to be happy or sad. You really just wanted to go home.

"As actual students?" Yuu asked to confirm what the headmage just said wasn't some gaslighting bs.

"You know we can't use any magic, right? How would we be able to follow lessons properly?" You asked aswell.

"Of course as an actual student. This is extraordinarily kind of me. However there is one more thing. Your inability to use magic is, for a mage, unacceptable. You would not be able to adequately pursue the school's curriculum! As for you Grim..."

He paused before continuing. "Your actions today have made it clear that you possess sufficient talent to become a mage. In light of the total sum of your respective circumstances, you, Yuu and Y/n will all share a single enrolment at Night Raven."

You gaped at him. He was putting two kids and a cat in one enrolment? You know what? You were to tired to even say something about it.

"Myah! I... I'll get to go to this school..? As an actual student? Not a janitor?!" Grim's eyes were sparkling with joy, and his pitchfork tail was swinging aggressively.

"Correct. However! There must be no further incidents like the one that occurred today. Are we clear?" The headmage stopped the creatures excitement for a moment.

Grim ignored what the headmage said and trotted over to where you and Yuu were standing. "Myah... Myah... Y/n... Yuu, I... I finally..."

He started sniffling as he looked towards the two of you.

"I'm so happy for you!" Yuu said with a smile as he crouched down. You bent down aswell and pat the cat's head. "Good job Grim. We're proud of you."

He ran into your arms, and you shared a group hug together with Yuu. Your tail was slightly pulling over the ground, but you paid no mind go it. You had to shower anyways.

"MYAAAAAH! I FINALLY DID IT!" He yelled happily when you three broke out of the hug. He jumped up and did a little happy-dance.

"Accordingly, I will now present to Grim the magestone that is issued to every student here." Crowley snapped his finger, and an extremely light purple looking stone appeared. The stone was attached to the large black and white striped bow Grim wore around his neck.

"Heh! A magestone, eh?!" He stopped when he noticed the stone on his bow.

Crowley nodded and started yapping again. "It's is typically attached to the "magic pen" that each student uses. But I suspect your pawd cannot handle implements. Therefore, I have a custom solution for you. Is it possible that I am in fact, too kind?"

Grim jumped up once again with a happy smile. "Ah, sweet! I look awesome! A magestone collar, go be worn only by the legendary archmage, Grim!"

"You're not listening to a word I say, are you?" Crowley sighed dramatically. "Yuu. As you can plainly see, Grim remains oblivious to the customs of human society. You are to keep a tight reign on Grim, and ensure there are no further incidents!"

Ace chuckled loudly. "Wow, that's quite the promotion. From janitor to student to prefect, all in the span of one day."

Deuce hummed along. "Oh, I see. So if your dorm is just you three... And the headmage is putting you in charge of Grim, that makes you.... the dorm prefect. But what about Y/n then?"

Ace just laughed again. "Well, that's gotta be a NRC first! A magic-less prefect? But sure, why not? Whatever works!"

Yuu turned to the headmage to speak.

"I want Y/n to be the dorm prefect instead."
