Chapter 5

"Hee hee hee... Aren't the three of you supposed to be off cleaning the school today?"

Grim only responded with soft muffles, while you just continued to sleep silently aside from the soft snores here and there.

You were holding Grim like he was your personal plushie, and Yuu had, while sleeping, unintentionally also snuggled up against you for warmth.

Said boy was groaning as he slowly woke up.

"Go ahead, sleep the day away. And you might not eeeeeever  have to wake up again." "Just like us! Ah ha ha ha ha ha!"

Yuu's eyes shot open, they first darted towards the ghosts, before realising he was laying against you.

He literally threw himself off of the bed to get to a respectful distance, and then shot up to face the ghosts who were staring at him with slight side-eyes.

Grim, hearing the words of the ghost, also flew up from his spot. "Myah?! The ghosts are back! Hey, Y/n, up and at 'em! Get up!"

Grim and Yuu already started fighting, and you slowly woke up by the sound of their fighting. When you realised what was happening you quickly shot up aswell.

Your bow was in your hand in less then a second, and you shot three arrows perfectly into the blasts of fire Grim was already sending their way causing a nice blow to hit the ghosts.

"Myahahaa! How does it feel to loose, stupid ghosts!" Grim was yelling cockily while doing a small victory dance.

The ghosts who were about to leave stayed just for a little longer.

"So I hear that you'll be living here from now on? Hope you love pranks just as much as we do! Hyahaha!" The slim ghost(A) chuckled mischiviously.

The only one actually angry was Grim, who was literally growling at the ghosts. "Grr... We gotta get rid of those things for good!"

"It's way to early for your yelling Grim, please stop shouting." You were softly palming your right ear, both of which were laying flat on your head, with your hand as you yawned softly. You plopped your head down on Yuu's shoulder, the body part way to heavy for you to carry this early in the morning.

You heard the front door opening and closing downstairs, and then familiar footsteps heading up the stairs. The soft clicks of the man's shoes stopped infront of the bedroom door before said door got slammed open aggressively.

"Good morning, Yuu and Y/n!" Crowley asked with a sing-song like voice. "Did you sleep well last night?"

He asked it like he already knew the answer, and immediately you were awake just from needing to deal with him this early.

"Not at all! When I sprawled out on the bed the matress gave out underneath me! Y/n luckily allowed me to lay beside her, but it really sucked! Exactly how Ramshackle IS this dorm? Oh, and worst yet, we got woken up by ghosts!"

"I slept surprisingly good!" Yuu replied in a happy tone.

You nodded along to what your human dormmate was saying. "I slept alright I guess."

You did sleep alright, but you knew it was mostly because of the cuddles. You adored cuddles, and had woken up somewhere in the middle of the night to find Yuu snuggled against you. You just hugged him back and you fell asleep in no time!

"I am delighted to hear that you've adjusted so well, despite being sent to another world!" The masked man was smiling happily as he spoke. Almost a bit too happily.

"Now, speaking of moving on, let us discuss your assingment for today! Let us head to the lounge!"

You were all now standing in the lounge. Both you and the boy with you were still in your pyjamas because of not really having anything else to change into.

"Your job today is to clean campus. That said, the campus is vast, and without magic it'd be quite an awful job to clean it all. Therefore, today I'll have you focus on the area spanning from the gates to the library. Aren't I so kind..."

He then turned towards Yuu completely.

"Now Yuu. I do expect that you'll keep a close eye on Grim, lest he cause another incident like yesterday." Crowley gave the black haired boy a stern look, and he returned a confused one.

"Excuse me sir, why should I take care of Grim? He's not mine, and Y/n is much more responsible then I am." You glared at him for trying to pin the baby sitting on you, but did understand where he was coming from.

"Because you were the one to request his stay. Now, do not fail me. You may take your lunch in the cafeteria. I eagerly await the fruits of your labor. Also, as the gracious man I am, I have provided you with uniforms you can wear. Now I shall take my leave, goodbye!"

As soon as the headmage had left the dormitory Grim huffed loudly. "Hmph! As if I'm cleaning anything. I'm here to study magic so I can be blasin' off spells left and right! Like BAM! POW! PEW PEW! FWOOM! HAYAAAA!"

He started yelling random noises, and your half-lidded eyes finally closed for a moment. You reached over, picked the monster up, and set him down on your shoulder after shutting him up.

You grabbed the uniform Crowley left on the slightly less dusty table and headed upstairs to change, Yuu doing the same and following behind you.

You had both freshened up, put on your uniforms, and you had put your hair in your favorite hairstyle. Your uniform surpirsingly had a nicely fittin hole for your tail, which was now swishing around comfortably.
(You can ofcourse choose what the uniform looks like yourself)

Grim was sitting on your shoulder as you finally strolled down main street with Yuu. The three of you were walking past seven big statues. Grim was looking around in wonder.

"Wow, so this is Main Street, huh? This is incredible! I didn't get to see much of it yesterday. What's the deal with these seven statues? All their faces look pretty scary."

"Well, in Mondstadt for example, they have a big statue of Barbatos, the god of freedom. They use the statue to honor him. Maybe these statues are to honor these people aswell?" You answered the cat, even though you weren't quite sure yourself.

Grim nodded, stopping in front of a big lady with a big dress and a crown on her head. "Hmmyah... Maybe you're right! Look at this lady! She looks like she got some reeeal anger management issues."

"You don't know the Queen of Hearts?"

You three turned around to see a boy with ginger hair and a red heart at the corner of his right eye, complimenting his red eyes.

"Queen of Hearts? Is she some kind of big deal?" Grim asked after repeating the words the ginger named.

The boy continued with a smile on his face, although it looked kinda set up to you... "The Queen of Hearts was a queen who lived in a mazelike garden of roses long, long ago. She was a strict woman, who prized order above all. She wouldn't tolerate a rose being off-color or her playing-card soldiers being out of step. She basically ruled over a kingdom of madness, but not one of her subjects dared to defy her. You wanna know why? Because the punishment for breaking a singular rule was immediate decapitation!"

Grim looked at the statue with a scared look. "Wah! That is seriously messed up!"

"Pretty cool right, I'm a big fan. I mean, who would bother obeying a queen that was kind all the time."

"Yeah, true. A leader needs to be strong." Grim agreed with a smile.

"Yes, a leader needs to be strong, and of course strict, but there is a certain extent of care for their people a leader needs to go through aswell. Accidents happen, but it doesn't seem like she was really all for accepting mistakes. Am I right?" You butted in on the conversation Grim and the new boy were having, not really being a big fan of this Queen.

"Uhh, yeah sure. I guess you're right? Never really thought about it like that..." He placed a hand on his chin as he thought about it.

Grim then decided to cut the boy's thinking short. "Yeah sure, putting that aside. Who are you?" He asked the boy with a raised eyebrow(?)"

"Name's Ace! I'm a freshman as offfff...today! Pleased to meetcha!"

"I'm Grim! I'm a prodigy who's plannin' to be, like, the greatest mage ever lived." Grim introduced himself with a smug grin, and Ace seemed to hold in his laughter. Even though you noticed, it didn't seem like Grim or Yuu did.

"And these guys are my far less interesting hench-humans. That's Yuu, and this is-" He was about to introduce you when you shut him up by picking him up off of your shoulder and putting him down.

"Y/n" You introduced yourself, and reaced your hand out for Ace to shake which he did.

"Yuu and Y/n huh, both your names got an odd ring to 'em." The boy with a heart at his eye corner mumbled to himself.

Yuu also shook Ace's hand with a kind smile on his face. "Nice to meet you!"

"So tell me, Ace." Grim decided to stop the introductions and went back to the old topic at hand. "Is that lion with a scar in the eye a famous ruler too?"

"Of course! That's the King of Beasts who ruled the savanna. But he wasn't born into the throne - he had to earn it through hard work and elaborate schemes. When he became king, he decreed that the hyenas would be outcasts no more, and should live among his subjects as equals."

"Sounds like a great guy! Not everyone's able to look past social status like that."

You butted in once again. "What kind of schemes tho? Usually someone scheming something isn't a positive thing."

Grim who had decided he wanted to get to know everyone ignored what you said and continued onto the next statue. 

"Who's the lady with the octopus legs?"

"The Sea Witch who lived in an underwater grotto. She basically defoted her life to helping troubled merfolk. If they were willing to pay the price, she'd help them change their appearance, find love, whatever! They say she was so good, there was no wish she couldn't grant. They also say the price was a tad steep though. But she was granting whishes! Of course it was!"

"Myaha! So you're saying that once I'm a great mage, gettin' rich off folks will be a total cinch?!"

"I don't think that that is how that works Grim." You shook your head and rolled your eyes at the creature.

"Oh, oh! Do the dude with the big hat next!" The cat said, pointing at a tall man.

This time it was Yuu who interupted. "It's a turban, not a hat." He was just like you were, ignored by the duo of weasel and human.

"That's the Sorcerer of the Sands. He was an advisor to a total dolt of a sultan. He was a smart guy, really capable sort. He exposed this swindler once - some guy pretending to be a prince in order to trick the princess! After that, he got this magic lamp and became the greatest sorcerer in the world. Then, they say...he used that power to become sultan himself!"

"Wow! Guess it's true that a mage needs to be an excellent judge of character, huh?" Grim said before running off to stand in front of the next statue. You sighed and followed after him with an annoyed expression.

"And what about this beauty over here?" He asked to Ace who also was still tagging along.

"She's a queen who said to be the fairest in all the land. In fact, she used her magic mirror to check how she ranked on a daily basis! When her position was threatened, they say she'd do whatever it took to keep it. Can you even imagine the level of dedication it would require to keep a record like that? Also, they say she was a master of making poisons!"

"Geez. She's pretty, but that sounds kinda scary."

"You think so? I gotta respect the hussle!"

"F-for sure... Sounds like she fought hard for what she believed in, and never gave up!"

You just didn't understand how someone could care about their looks that much while Grim ran off to the sixth statue.

"And the one there, with the flaming head? Now THAT guy looks scary!"

"That's the King of the Underworld! Single-handedly ruling a kingdom packed with rambunctious spirits - that takes competence! He may look scary, but he was a straight shooter who worked tirelessly at a tough job he never even asked for. I mean, this is the guy who was ordering Cerberus, the Hydra and the Titans into battle for him."

"Hmm. That IS something. T'think he could have that much power and not let it go to his head! Oh, and that last one there, with the horns?" You all once again moved to the next statue, now the last one of the seven.

"That is the Thorn Fairy, who lived on a mystical mountain. She was noble and elegant, and a master of magic and curses - even by the standards of these seven! She commanded storms, covered the kingdom with thorns... SHe could use magic on a massive scale! She could even turn herslef into a giant dragon."

"Ooh, a dragon! What all mosters yearn to be!" Grim was staring at the Thorn Fairy with slight sparkles in his eyes, but you say Ace's expression slightly shift from the happy look he had on his face earlier.

"Pretty cool, huh?" His smile then fell off into a cocky grin.

"Not like some piddling weasel."

A/n: I'm happy I've been able to keep up with posting eveyday! Sorry if this seems rushed or if there's any mistakes, I had to be at school REALLY early today so I'm very tired right now! I was seriously falling asleep while writing this! Hope you enjoyed <3
