There was silence.
Echoing of what you would assume to be a faucet that wasn't full turned off dripping out water But instead, imagine that water being tinted a crimson color, and instead of it dripping from a faucet, imagine it dripping from the hand of a lifeless body.
Everything had been a blur for the two twins.
One minute they had been sitting in their school hall, enduring the painful torturing of their bullies as they waited for the assembly to begin.
The next, they were siting in the center of chaos.
Evan stared down at his shaking hands, breath hitching when spotting the crimson blood that now stained them. His eyes sped across the room before being glued onto his sisters body. She was laid up against the stage, face emotionless and eyes empty.
"E-Ella?" He crawled over to her and as he got closer, he had finally noticed the blood that had been splattered across her chubby cheeks. Evan reached her and wrapped his hands around hers, the blood from his hands tainting her pale ones.
"E-Ella? come on...talk to me" Evan whined as he looked down at his sister but it was as if she was off in a daydream, eyes focused on the red liquid that was flooding the floors.
The only time her eyes left the ground was when the hall doors opened wide, the bright light of the sun beaming through as a tall, muscular figure dressed in all black entered.
They knew who he was and they both stared up at him with tears unknowingly spilling from their glassy orbs that were glowing an iridescent yellow before returning back to their original brown color.
"Are you here to lock us away?" Ella's voice came out small and hoarse, only those with good ears would have been able to hear it and luckily, Bruce did.
"Every bad act has a punishment" he answered with regret, the two twins demeanor's had immediately changed, becoming more sadder if it was even possible at this point.
Bruce bent down and gently held onto their hands, pulling Evan up onto his feet while carefully picking up Ella in his arms.
Ella was scarily light for someone of her age, Bruce has easily picked her up like a toddler. What worried him the most was that the twins didn't fight or whine or cry, they just allowed themselves be taken, even when they could see the flashing lights of red and blue.
Police officers came rushing towards the Bat when they spotted the two twins drenched in blood.
"We can take it from here" The police officer stated as he went to grab Evan's collar but Bruce pulled him away.
"Don't worry, i'll do this one myself" He replied before placing the two in his bat mobile.
The ride was filled with a tense silence that even a knife wouldn't be able to cut. Evan had been looking out the window as Ella drifted in and out of sleep.
"Am I able to ask one thing while in prison?" Evan questioned and the Bat peered at him through his mask.
"Depends on what it is" He simply put and Evan sighed.
"To be with my sister. She won't last without me" Evan stated and Bruce glanced at the boy as he pulled up to where they were to be held.
"It seems like you wouldn't last without her either" He responded before hopping out of the car and getting the twins out also.
"We'll be taking them from here" a soldier from Belle Reves called out as he instructed multiple other soldiers to take Evan and Ella away.
Bruce watched them being roughly dragged and strapped down to wheel chairs.
"Hey! Take it easy on them, they're just kids" He demanded but the soldier didn't bat an eye.
"Sorry Bat but they are also criminals" he admitted, turning and following behind the twins as they were wheeled away.
