Welcome back, again watch the video first and there will be an explanation below. Whoever can tell me what anime the song if from first will get the chapter dedicated to them!

1. So firstly, set the canvas to the size required for Wattpad (you can do this by searching 'Wattpad' in the size- the size is 512x800. I then put the character that I was planning to use on the canvas with the background so I could extract a colour to from the character to filter the background with. To do this I also needed to set some shapes to those colours so they would be listed as "used colours". I used the two rectangular frames seen on the second picture to do this. At first I liked the way the two sat off set so I left them like that. To change the background image colours I used the duotone feature. It doesn't really matter which style you go with if you pick your own colours.

2. Next I readied an image I planned to use with the focal character for the polaroid picture. I needed to set them both as squares using the frame tool and then group them, then I could use the photo edit feature to add the frame. I also adjusted the colours for the succulent picture to better suit the palette.

3. The image with the white background is where I added the polaroid frame- but because the frame and background were both white it's hard to see. Whoops!

4. I then ended up adjusting the background to be a bit darker to increase contrast and to create a darker feel to better reflect the tone I was aiming for (and I'm better at darker style covers). The pot plants were just graphics from Canva that let you change the colours, so I matched them to the palette already established. To create the shadows I just duplicated and turned every feature black and then offset them to the coloured ones.

5. I ended up changing my mind for the offset boarder and went for a more typical frame. I don't plan out my work and often use a lot of experimentation so in the future expect a lot of ideas to get discarded and changed over the course of the tutorial.

6. Next, I just added some scribbles and shading to make it look darker and more like a journal. For the big shadow I found a black splotchy scribble and lowered the opacity. Many of the elements I use can be found as they are in the 'elements' section of Canva- I'm not skilled enough to make them myself yet. I recommend just searching for various ideas and seeing what you can find. I also don't have premium so anything I use that's not the character art itself is likely from Canva and you can use.

7. Finally, I added the title and author section. Adding text is essential to make the cover really look finished, and well, like a book cover. You may have to fiddle around with fonts, but I tend to use a lot of the pre-set text templates. The biggest risk with this method is that many other people will too, so I recommend changing it slightly to avoid having your cover look too similar to someone else's.

That's it from me. Any questions?
