"Get some rest, but remember, we must leave soon." I instructed Ryoto as we entered Nagito's house. "Why?" He asked. "Why can't we wait until this all settles down?!" Mitarai exclaimed. "Do you really think that it'll end *that* soon?" I raised an eyebrow as I removed my shoes. "You mean. . ." He stood in stupor trying to catch my train of thoughts. "Exactly, it's just a beginning of a nightmare." I grumbled and went into the kitchen. "You're wrong! I'm sure it will end in a week or two!" He yelled. "I wouldn't been so hopeful about that." I muttered as I checked the fridge. There was lots of different food and drinks, I closed the refrigerator and noticed a sticker note attached to it :
You can take anything you need, I don't mind.
- Good luck, sweetheart ♡~
I smiled. "Are you hungry?" I asked. ". . .No" Mitarai mumbled. "Okay." I took out some eggs and bacon. I made two plates of bacon and eggs and kept them on the dining table. "Milk or orange juice?" I turned towards Ryoto, but he was nowhere in sight. "Ryoto?" I called, no answer. "Mitarai?" I started searching the rooms. As I went upstairs I heard someone's footsteps. I slowly opened Nagito's room and saw Ryoto staring onto something, confusion and slight horror was written across his face. "Mitarai?" I quietly called.
"Augh!" He screamed, startled by my sudden appearance. "Are you deaf?! I literally called out your name thrice!" I grumbled. "S-sorry! I was just looking at the wall. . ." He pointed towards a weird looking wall. Why was it weird? Because it looked as if something was attached to it, but was removed later on.
I carefully examined the wallpaper that was a bit darker in the centre and grew lighter by the end of the wall. I looked around the room carefully examining it. "Look there." I pointed towards the study table that stood by the wall. Behind it was an old crock board, it was damaged by different holes from big to small. "Help, me out." Both of us took it out and placed it on the weird wall. "It fits the dark mark." Ryoto noticed.
"I can see it. But why did he remove it?" I mused to myself as I placed the board on the floor. "Maybe there was something important on this crock board?" Mitarai supposed. "Do you know where does he hide things?" He asked me. "I remember how one time we broke his mom's favorite vase. He hid the shards under his bed!" I chuckled at the memory as I fell to my knees and looked under his bed. "Do you really think he will hide something important under his bed?!" Ryoto exclaimed. I ignored his whines and continued looking. In the far corner there was and old cardboard box. I climbed under the bed and took it out. "Bingo!" I smiled cockily. On the upper part of the box was written:
'' (Your name) ♡ ''
"Well, now I'm confused." I spoke. There was another sticker attached to it.
Please don't open!
"You're going to open it, right?" Ryoto sweat dropped. "Of course." I smirked. As I opened the box my jaw dropped. "Leave the room!" I yelled. "W-wha- why?!" Ryoto asked as he glanced into the box. "I said, leave!" I blushed and pushed him out. Locking the room I sat on Nagito's bed and looked through the contents of the box. It was filled with bunch of photographs taken from Nagito's room window. In some photos I was changing my clothes, some had me talking on phone. I continued looking through. There was a photo of me going to shopping or me walking down the street. Many photos had my face on it, the ones who had me smiling were framed with hearts and notes like: "my hope"; "Sweetheart" or "love you".
That was very weird. On the bottom of the box there were different things. My pencil that I've bitten when I was nervous; my little Keychain that I've lost in my first week in hopes peak academy; my hairbrush?!.
How did he get that?!
There were also a bunch of photo albums filled with our childhood pictures.
What does it mean?
I was really confused. . . On the very bottom of the box there was another sticker.
Now I'm embarrassed. . .
It might look creepy, but I'm not a pervert you think I am.
I thought that you'll never accept my love so I did this. . .
I'm sorry.
I closed the box and returned it under the bed. Walking out the room I went downstairs. Ryoto was munching hungrily on the plate of bacon and eggs, as he noticed me he gulped and blushed. "It's okay. You're hungry, right?" I smiled awkwardly and sat across the table. My plate was ice cold, picking it up I heated it in the microwave. As I kept it on the table I sighed and stuffed my mouth with food.
Walking inside the room I sat on the bed and sighed. Looking out of the window I saw the remains of my house. Opening Nagito's wardrobe I took his white shirt and loose shorts. They must be kind of big on me but, I didn't mind. It was getting kind of chilly so I took out his black hoodie too. Walking inside the bathroom I quickly took a warm and refreshing shower not forgetting to change into clean, dry clothes. Tomorrow I have to wash my clothes as they were really dirty and soaked with rain water and mud. Leaving the bathroom I sat again on the bed.
"My clothes look really great on you!" I heard Nagito say. "What the?! How did you?" Before I could say anything he showed me a key. "You think I don't have spare keys to my own house?" He smirked. "Yeah, sure. Say, Ko, what is this?" I took out the box from underneath the bed. He looked away and blushed furiously. "Look, I can explain-" He started. "I don't want to hear it. It is very weird, but I guess I understand." I hugged him smiling. "I love you." Nagito whispered as he tangled my waist between his arms. "You want me to free this room?" I pulled away. "No. . . You can sleep here." He smiled.
"Okay then, goodnight." I layed on the bed and covered myself with bedsheet. I expected him to leave but instead he laid down next to me pulling me close to his skinny form. "Do you mind?" He asked worryingly. "No." I smiled and lean closer into his arms.
I woke up early in the morning, slowly rubbing my eyes I glanced at the clock: 6:56 am.
Great. Just great.
I tried to go back to sleep but was wide awake. I walked into the bathroom, raising my head up I looked at the mirror and noticed a sticky note on my forehead. Removing it I looked at the message.
Good morning, sweetheart!
The breakfast is on the table.
I smiled and sticked the note on the mirror. I sighed as I looked onto my reflection. Red puffy eyes from crying in my sleep, dark circles under my eyes, minor scratches and bruises on my face and hands from falling onto the pavement and being tackled by Akane. I washed my face with cold water and brushed my teeth. Not bothering to change I walked downstairs for breakfast. While my stroll I smelled something burning.
As I rushed into the kitchen I saw the white haired guy cursing under his breath as he tried to extinguish a fire. "What happened?" I kept my hand on his shoulder. "Gah! Oh, it's nothi-" just then the fire started burning brighter. "Gimme that." I took the frying pan's lid and covered the fire. After few seconds the fire was extinguished. "Thanks." Nagito smiled awkwardly.
"What are you making?" I looked behind his shoulder as he threw out a smoking piece of coal. "Pancakes. . ." He sighed. Without further explanation I started making the pancake batter. "What, wait stop! I want to make it!" Dandelion-head protested as he grabbed the bowl away from my reach. "Ugh, fine." I raised my hands in defeat and strolled out of the kitchen. Plopping on the couch I took out the TV remote and turned on the news channel.
"Let us pray for the people who lost their lives on yesterday's horrible day." Reporter locked her hands on her chest in a prayer. I switched to a different channel. "Massive suicide in hopes peak academy. Two thousand three hundred fifty seven reserve course students committed suicide on the school grounds." The reporter announced. "Afterwards there was an explosion in the new building of the main course. Many ultimates died in such tragic events. The most suffered class was 77-B. Sixteen students were burned alive, while one student is missing. Let us pray for all the people who lost their lives." Reporter sighed
"Burned. . . Alive?" I dropped the remote on the ground. "Pancakes are rea-" Nagito stopped mid-sentence as he turned off the TV. "They're alive, I promise." He grabbed my shoulders and made me look into his eyes. "Are you the real Nagito? What if you're just fake. . ?" I pushed his hands away from me. "If I'm not real then how do I know that at the age of four you made a bet, and after you lost it you ate three earthworms?" He smirked. "I was a kid, alright?!" I snapped while blushing. "Anyway, do you trust me now?" Nagito smiled. "Yes. . ." I nodded. "Alright, eat up." He patted my head as he handed me a plate with pancakes. "I have to go now, please take care of yourself." Dandelion-head pecked my forehead and walked away.
The pancakes were disgusting, but the fact that Nagito cooked them for me made me love them. After I finished eating I brewed myself a cup of black coffee. Sipping on my drink I turned the TV back on, trying to catch up to our current situation. That's then I heard a squeaky howl. As I shifted my gaze onto the floor I saw Kibo. "You hungry?" I smiled and walked towards the kitchen. I took out the dog food and poured some into his bowl. "Here we go." I patted Kibo on his head and sat back onto the sofa.
"Many rebels and rioters crowded around the hopes peak academy. Let's ask them for their motives." The reporter started interviewing random people. "We payed them our money for our children's education, not for their death!" One woman said. "I just want my sweet Maki back." One man cried. "All of them are murderers!" Yelled one group.
I heard a yell coming from behind me. I turned around to see horrified Ryoto as he held a little paper in his hands. "Help me (Your name)!!!" He handed me the paper.
If you hurt my (Your name),
you'll be dead where you stand.
"You haven't hurt me. Why make such fuss?" I smirked, amused by his reaction. "But I made you hurt when you fell onto the pavement! I pushed you! I'm so sorry! Please spare my miserable life!" He begged, was he serious? He can't get so worked up over such a thing. "Calm down, you didn't pushed me, I fell on my own." I tried to reassure him. "R-really?" Mitarai stuttered out, I nodded with a weak smile. "Better eat something." I stood up walking away. "Where are you going?" He asked. "To pack our things." I went upstairs.
I took out a black duffle bag from Nagito's wardrobe and stuffed some clothes inside. Walking back to kitchen I grabbed some buns (Not Ryoto's 😏) and canned food. I also took two bottles and filled them with water. Entering Nagito's room I kept all the food supplies inside the bag. Quickly changing into green sweater and jeans I picked up the bag and walked downstairs.
"Find first aid kit and keep it into the bag. Lock the door, if someone knocks don't open it, pretend the house is empty. If someone enters the house, take the bag and leave through the back door. Don't forget Kibo. If I won't come in thirty minutes, don't search for me. I'm going out and don't ask me where." I gave basic instructions and walked out.
Making my way through the lawn I sprinted towards the main gate. Silently closing it I checked my surroundings.
Clear.
I speed-walked towards the nearest sports equipment shop and asked for two wooden baseball bats. "You're baseball player?" The old shopkeeper asked. "No, but I wanted to start playing." I gave him a fake smile. "Not the best timing. Yesterday was a complete disaster." He sighed. "You're talking about Hope's peak academy?" I inquired. "Yes, yesterday I lost my grandson. We gave every yen we earned to pay for his school fees and now, he's dead." The old man frowned as he shook his head sadly. Poor guy. "Sir, I'm very sorry for your loss." I frowned sincerely. "I had a friend. He was a reserve course student too. He left school before this tragedy happened." I mumbled.
"You didn't talked to him after he left school?" Old man asked curiously. "No, his leave was very unexpected. I checked his house, but it was always locked." I mused. "I'm sure that devious academy is standing behind this." He grunted. "How much for the bats?" I changed the topic of our conversation. "Five thousand yen." I gave the money and strolled towards the exit. "Take care of yourself, sir." I smiled and walked away.
Entering the house I was greeted with dead silence. I walked a bit further into the hall until. . .
"AAAAUGH!"
