Gokce Hatun dressed in black, grieving her dead parents. They were brought to the tribe, where they were safer than in the palace. She had met a few of the people, and Ertugrul Bey's sons, Gunduz, Savci and Osman. They were extremely kind to Gokce, and Hayme Hatun had consoled her.
It was time for her parents funeral. She had been crying in her own tent, when a girl called Aslihan, slowly pulled up her arms. 'Haydi, bacim. We must put your parents into the kara soil. They need your blessings.' She looked up at Aslihan, her vision blurring as tears swelled into her eyes. 'Aslihan baci. My parents have left me. They have left me to face the world.'
She stood, wiping her tears. Now was the time to be Gokce Sultan, representative of the Seljuk Dynasty at the Kayi Tribe. They left their tent, and were led by some Alps to the marquee. She entered. 'Hosgeldin, Gokce Sultan.' There were echoes of condolences, and right by the the bey's seat, were the bodies of her parents.
'Ana. Baba.' She collapsed beside Zehra Hatun, who was weak from her wound. 'Ah, Zehra Hatun, what will we do?' Zehra pulled the small girl towards herself. 'Ah, kizim. What can we do? We can only pray to Allah to accept them into Jannah. Ameen.' Gokce nodded, looking over the bodies. She was just a 9 year old. What was she supposed to do?
'May your parents be accepted into Jannah, Gokce bacim. They were good people, and were killed because of that. May Allah be happy with them.' Gokce looked to see whose voice it was. The owner of the smooth, silky voice, was the kara-gozlu Osman Alp. She nodded, thanking him. 'Sağol, Osman Alp. Teşekkür ederim.'
They were taken away and buried, however, Gokce wasn't allowed to go. She was still a young child, and didn't deserve to see such a sad scene. Osman Alp stayed with her, and she felt reassured. They were slowly building a connection.
The boy turned towards her again. 'Gokce Hatun, do you have any siblings?' Gokce shook her head. 'Oh I thought maybe you did, your parents are a little old, and for the sake of the dynasty, they must have had another child.'
She thought over this. Osman was saying the truth. The dynasty members had to have at least 1 male child to continue their legacy. Her parents were too old to have another child, but what about before her?
'What are you thinking, kizim?' Gokce looked up to see that the family had returned from the funeral prayer, and Hayme Hatun was standing in front of her. 'I- nothing. I was thinking about a way to repay you. How can we ever?' 'Nasıl be söz, kızım? You are our family. Your sorrow is our sorrow, bılmezmısın? You are my granddaughter like every other boy and girl in this tribe. Haydi, let us go read your parents will.'
Gokce nodded, standing up, and entering the side tent if the marquee. Ertugrul Bey was sat on his couch, with his head alp, Bamsi Bey, and right-hand, Turgut Bey. They looked up as she walked in, and smiled at her. 'Gel, güzel kızım. Sit down.' Ertugrul Bey patted the seat beside him. Hayme Hatun led her towards the cushion.
'Kizim, we are very sorry for your loss. Your Ana and Baba will be greatly missed. They were some of the best people. Your amca, however, your Sultan, was a traitor. He killed your parents in a rage for the throne. Your father knew of this, so he wrote a will, and sent it to me. We would like to discuss it with you.' He took a deep breath.
'Gokce, me and your father made a deal before he died, and left for Konya. It was a deal in which when he died, you would be under our protection, and I will attain his lands, and will give them to you once you grow up. However, I cannot fully protect you, unless you are in my family. Due to rules, we are not allowed to adopt any member of the Seljuk Dynasty, so the only way to keep you by my side, is for you to marry into my family. Your father and I agreed for you to marry my son, Osman, when you become 20. It is mentioned in the will, when you see it, you will know. Secondly, your parents hid a big secret from you. For your safety, and the reputation of the dynasty. Your mother, Ayse Sultan, wasn't a Muslim a year before she married your father. She was married to a Tekfur, and had a child with him. His name is Aran, and he is now the Tekfur of his father's castle. However, he is 16, and is ruled by his commanders. We will find him, and bring him back.'
Gokce looked at him with wide eyes. She was told two life changing things.
She was going to get married to Osman. And she had a brother? Two destinies were part of her fate. Kaderin Kaderi.
