As the alarm beeped, I hit the clock and accidentally slammed my hand on the floor, since my mattress was still on the ground, and I hadn't set up my bed yet. My mom entered the room and reminded me to get ready for school, placing my backpack on the floor. She mentioned that I could go to the store after school to pick up the things I needed.
After getting off my mattress, I picked an outfit from my suitcase and changed in the bathroom. Content with my choice, I couldn't help but think how much I liked the outfit. Once I grabbed my bag, I headed downstairs. Waving goodbye to my parents, I made my way to my jeep. I turned on my favorite track and sang along as I drove to school. Upon arriving, I parked and got out of the vehicle, bag in hand. As I walked toward the school, I could feel everyone's eyes on me. Among the crowd, a group of boys caught my attention. One with black slicked-back hair gave me a creepy smirk, while the othersβa boy with a mullet, another with short hair, and a larger oneβturned to look at me as well. I ignored them and continued toward the entrance.
I made my way to the front office with a smirk on my face, got my class details, and exited. However, in my haste, I bumped into a curly redhead who dropped her bag. As I helped her pick up her books, she asked if we had met before.
"Iβm Luna," I said, and she introduced herself as Beverly, asking if I was new to the school. We shook hands, and she smiled. "Want to be friends?" she asked, zipping up her bag.
"Yeah, sure," I replied, grabbing my own bag. She then warned me about the Bowers gang, saying they bullied her, her friends, and a girl named Greta.
"Bullying? Iβll handle those punks myself," I muttered.
After saying goodbye to Beverly, I went to my first period class. The teacher asked me to introduce myself, so I said, "Sup, Iβm Luna Moon, and my favorite colors are black and dark green." She motioned for me to take a seat, and I ended up sitting next to the bleach blonde guy Iβd seen earlier.
Time Skip
By the end of the day, I was heading to my car when Beverly came running up to me.
"LUNA!" she yelled. I turned around quickly, worried.
"Bev, what happened?" I asked.
"The Bowers gangβtheyβre bullying my friends again and wonβt stop," she said, panic in her voice. Anger bubbled up inside me. I may not know these kids, but I was already pissed that some punks were bullying them.
"Show me," I said right away, surprising her. But she led me to them, and I followed.
"Did you s-say something, Bill?" the mullet boy stuttered, looking at a boy I assumed was Bill. I stayed hidden behind a tree, watching. It seemed like teasing for now, but if he touched them, I'd be putting him on his butt.
Then I noticed him turn to Beverly.
"Look, itβs the slut," he said, shoving Bill to the ground and turning another boy with glasses toward Beverly. That was it. I had enough. I walked over, my eyes narrowed.
"Sup, little boy?" I said to Mullet Boy, hearing Beverly giggle. He looked me up and down, clearly annoyed.
"Take a picture, itβll last longer," I teased. Beverly laughed harder, and I saw the bleach blonde guy struggle to keep his laughter in, not wanting to anger his friend.
"Look, the new slut can speak," Mullet Boy sneered, turning to his friends.
"So being a slut is a thing around here? What does that make you?" I shot back, trying not to laugh, but Beverly was dying with laughter, which only made Mullet Boy mad.
"You better watch yourself. And you, Bill, you got off easy because of your brother. As for you, new girl, my nameβs Henry," he said, glaring at me.
"Iβd say nice to meet you, but that would be a lie. And the nameβs Luna. Remember that, weirdo," I said, grabbing Beverlyβs hand and walking away.
The boys followed behind us, and we stopped by my jeep.
"That was cool, what you did, Luna," the boy with glasses said.
"Thanks, but I donβt know your names," I replied.
Beverly chimed in, "Okay, this is Richie, Stanley, Eddie, Ben, Mike, and Bill." She pointed at each boy as she said their name.
Before I could respond, a girl came up to Beverly and shoved her to the ground.
"Oops, didnβt see you, slut," the girl said.
I marched up to her as the boys helped Beverly up.
"Who are you, bitch?" I said, stepping in front of her.
"The nameβs Greta, Iβm the Queen of this school," she said, putting her hands on her hips.
"Iβm the Queen of this school! Sorry, honey, but the only thing ruling here is my laughter," I shot back, laughing.
Greta slapped me across the face. That was it. I grabbed her by the throat, surprising her. Her friends tried to stop me, but I kicked them in the stomach, sending them to the ground. Beverly was laughing hysterically while the boys just stared, shocked.
I held onto Gretaβs throat. "Ever touch Beverly again, and thatβll be the last thing you do," I warned, dropping her to the ground. Turning to her friends, I said, "What are your names?"
"Iβm Emily, and sheβs Brooke," Emily said.
"You two can be my friends," I told them, and they smiled, surprised but happy.
They flipped Greta off for all the crap she made them do, then walked away.
"How did you do that?" Richie asked, still in shock.
"I donβt know," I shrugged, getting in my jeep. I drove home, pulled into the driveway, and went inside. I went upstairs to my room, where my parents had apparently set up my dresser while I was at school. I finally got my bed off the floor and set up.
Suddenly, I heard a creepy giggle and turned around to see a clown.
"Want to floatβum, whatβs your name?" the clown asked, surprised he didnβt know mine.
"Luna," I replied, tilting my head, and he mimicked the gesture.
"Anyway, youβll float like all the other kids," he said.
"Dude, whatβs your name?" I asked, completely unfazed.
"Pennywise, the dancing clown," he said, doing a silly dance. Then, he disappeared.
I walked downstairs, grabbed my keys, and went to the store to get the things I needed. After putting everything away, I finished setting up my room. I went to my bathroom, put on my pajamas, and lay down on my bed. Soon, I fell asleep.
