Hey guys! Just a little warning, this chapter moves pretty slow but it's still worth it in the end. Now please, enjoy!
Ahsoka's pov
I made my way back to the cockpit and basically shoved Tech out of the window. His face squished on the glass.
"Sorry Techie bear but I gotta fly." He growled then simply sat in the copilots seat.
"Are you ready for this?" I asked suddenly my headache not mattering because the pain was replaced with adrenaline. Tech looked so scared. Was he scared of those tie fighters coming our way or me?
"I am almost afraid to ask, but ready for what?" I shrugged as if it didn't matter however my signature smirk said otherwise.
"Just going into hyperspace."
"But we just got out of it! If we go back into hyperspace then we'll hit Ilum full force!"
"Exactly."
"What are you thinking!?!" Eh he'll thank me for this later. I yelled to through the door.
"Wrecker strap in now!"
"But I'm shoo-"
"Wrecker trust me!" There was no more arguing after that which I was grateful for. I heard a click and knew everyone was ready.
"Hang on tight!" I yelled.
"Tech prep the hyperdrive. We only have one shot at this or else... well, you know." He nodded rapidly and made the necessary preperations.
"Hyperdrive is online and ready for activation."
"Good. Calculate the coordinates straight through the planet. Tell me when were lined up." He nodded and started rapidly hitting buttons and calculating what very well may be the shortest hyperspace jump in existence.
"Were good to go." I took a deep breath in and out.
"Root all auxillary power to the hyperdrive."
"All!?" I rolled my eyes and continuesly nodded.
"I just wanted to say if we don't make it through this-"
"Were gonna make it through this."
"But if we dont make it though this-"
"WERE GONNA MAKE IT THROUGH THIS!!!" I screamed completely exhauseted of the complaining and questioning.
"Okay everybody ready?" I heard a series of 'yeahs' and 'eh' before I looked at Tech.
"You ready or not?" I didnt get the response I was looking for.
"Have you ever done this before?"
"My master taught me there's always a first time for everything, especially when that 'everything' is sonething brash and reckless." He gulped and looked out the window. A tie fighter roared past us and shot right above the glass window shield. Thank god, that was close. I looked over at Tech again who was visibly shaking. He opened his mouth to say something but again but I wasnt having it.
"Tech I swear if you talk one more time you'll lose the ability to talk!" That shut him up real quick.
"Good. Now ready to make the jump in three, two, one. Now!" I pulled the lever down. I watched with extreme caution and anxiety as the world around us began to blur.
"Ahsoka stop it!" Hunter yelled from the back.
"Not yet. A little more." The stars became even blurrier but we're not quite there yet.
"Ahsoka anytime now." Omega said, clearly just as concerned as everyone else.
"Not yet. One more second."
"Ahso-"
"Now!" I yanked the lever back as hard as possible. The once black and blue blur turned into orange and yellow as we pulled ourselves out of hyperspace. Actually I take that back. I'm the one doing all the work. Tech is just sitting next to me becoming more and more scarred for life. It almsot made me laugh. And I would've laughed except for the fact we were literally 20 feet away from the ground. Yeah that is no laughing matter.
"Pull up! Pull up!"
"Thats it! When we land I am removing your mouth!" I snapped at him and kept pullung up on the controls. It wasn't working so I improvised. I unbuckled and ran out of the cockpit.
"Take over!"
"What the kriff are you doing now!?" Tech yelled but I didn't bother responding.
"Omega come with me." I didn't need to tell her twice. She unbuckled herself and ran after me, no questions asked. If only Tech could be like that too then maybe he'd still have a mouth.
"Where are you going!?" Hunter yelled in his frantic dad voice. I hit the airlock and grabbed the wall as well as Omega's hand.
"Were saving you asses and looking good while doing it!" Before he could question me further I let go of Omega's hand then the wall. We both were sucked out of the ship and landed in the fresh powdery snow. I brushed myself off and helped Omega do the same.
"Omega jump!" She hopped about a foot in the air.
"I meant use the force!"
"Oh right." She went a good 20 feet in the air before I used the force to push her so far she landed on top of the still plummeting Havoc Marauder. Then I jumped up and did the same but required no push.
"Lift the ship!" I yelled over the turbulence. We both closed our eyes and focused hard. I could sense the fear coming from not only inside the ship but outside it too. Several clicks away I could sense a load of fear and anger. I knew it was him. He's here. But he's not here for me or Omega. He did not know we were coming here. So what is he after?
"Master look! We did it!" I opened my eyes to see us standing still on the Havoc Marauder no longer in motion. Inches away from the ground.
"Great work, my padawan. Now let's lower the ship and get the ladies out of there." She giggled as we both set the ship down as gently as possible. Once the task was accomplished and we got everybody out of the ship we all took one big sigh of relief. I couldn't stop my self from laughing.
"Another happy landing." A shiver went down my spine but nothing more.
"Ahsoka do you have a mirror?"
"No why?"
"Because I want to check to see if you gave me grey hairs! Seriously the next time you hurl yourself and my da- Omega off the ship can you at least tell us your plan first!?" Hunter asked but I simply shook my head no. He sighed. I looked down at my feet to notice I was subtly sinking. I let out a groan and shoved the snow off me.
"Ugh I hate snow! Its almost as bad as sand!" They all stared at me funny except for Echo who was snickering in the corner. I walked over to him and flicked some snow on him.
"Whats so funny?"
"Like master like padawan." We all chuckled at the so sarcastic yet so true remark from Echo.
"Alright boys focus. 3 of you need to stay here and guard the ship while the other 1 comes with Omega and I to the caves. So who are the lucky fellas gonna be?" They all raised their hands but Tech raised his hand first which surprised me a little.
"I'd do anything to get away from this ship." He wasn't lying but he wasn't telling the whole story either. Nevertheless I nodded.
"Good luck boys, with any luck the Imperials will only be in the sky and not on the ground and we'll be out of here in no time." I scoffed at Omega's very hopeful thinking. Then something random popped in my head.
"Master Kenobi always taught me there's no such thing as luck."
"Well it's a good thing you taught me otherwise." A shiver went down my spine as a vision threatened to tkae over me. I pushed back as hard as possible. Now is not the time for a vision. I grunted as my vision washed away. Good.
"Alright people, lets get to it." I led Omega, Tech and Echo through the white woods of Ilum. It was at least a mile before I statred to notice everybody's lack of winter clothing. My feet were aching but finally something came into view. I held my fist up to signal the stop.
"Great Omega you jinxed us." I nudged her teasingly even though our situation wasn't funny at all. Right below this mountain ridge was the kyber crystal cave entrance. And by that entrance was hundreds of troopers. There were two large automatic guns on the top of the cave manned by a few troopers dressed in white armour but they definitely weren't shinies. Who are these troopers?
"The entrance to the cave is blocked." Omega said as Tech pulled out his new binoculars.
"Indeed. Im clocking 9 troopers alone guarding the door but several more next to them. And several more troopers beside them. This just became a suicide mission." I just stared at him in a 'duh' sort of way.
"Thank you for your wonderful commentary. Hey Tech do you have any duct tape in your pack?" I asked as innocently as possible to hide my true intent.
"Why as a matter of fact I do. Why do you need it?" I shrugged as he rummaged around in the bag. When he handed it too me I ripped a large piece off and slapped itvacross his face. He made muffled screams but Omega and I just giggled.
"Reasons. Now about the mission. It won't be easy getting in. But I have an idea." I pressed my com on and changed it to the right frequency.
"Hunter. Come in Hunter."
"I'm here Ahsoka. Hit a roadblock already?" I scoffed and shook my head at his oh so positive attitude.
"You say roadblock, I say new opportunity. By the time you get here we'll be gone but when you get here I need you too take Tech's armour back to the Havoc Marauder with you. Can you do that?"
"Of course. You ladies... and Tech... and Echo better get a move on though. I don't want to have to get in a firefight and not have you around." Tech mumbled soemthimg inaudible and muffled along with an eyeroll.
"What was that?" Hunter asked over the com.
"Oh you know. Things. Okay byeeeee!" Tech tried to scoff but failed.
"Okay here's what were gonna do. Omega, go find a little branch or a rock or something small to throw. Tech, change out of your armour and give me your helmet." They both eyed me suspicipusly but both obliged. Tech laid down and removed his armour while Omega ducked low and ran off. She came back seconds later with a rather large pebble.
"Percect. Tech how's it going?"
"Mph! MmmM! MMmmmM!"
"Right. Should've expected that. Alright Tech see that Commander over there?" He tried to reply but groaned and nodded. I fought back my laughter and focused on the task at hand.
"Good cause that's your target." His head flipped toward.
"Seriously he's targeting a clone Commander? Not to mention a brother?" I sighed and looked in between both of them. Tech had pleading eyes. I tried my best to ignore it. I heard footsteps approaching. They got louder and louder.
"Ahsoka?"
"Hunter? Wow you got here fast."
"Yeah that's cause I stole Tech's jetpack." All of our eyes nearly bluged out of out heads for varying reasons. He has a jetpack!? Then I heard more footsteps. My hand breifly hovered over my light saber but stopped when it turned out to be just Echo.
"Echo what are you doing here? Your supposed to be with Wrecker guarding the ship!" Hunter whisper yelled at him. Echo merely shrugged and squated down by us.
"I got bored." I scoffed and rolled my eyes but deep down I was thankful he was here. He'll make my plan a lot more beleivable. Clone troopers usually always travel in pairs anyway.
"Alright Hunter his armour is over there I'll contact you when were ready for a pickup. Everybody else, follow me." They all nodded and we went our seperate ways. I ran behind a large crate. As we moved forward Omega and I used the force to levitate it slowly to move along with us.
"Stop here." We gently dropped the crate and looked each other.
"Tech you have binders in your pack right?" He nodded.
"Hand 'em here." He did as instructed and I snapped one around Omega's wrist. She gasped slightly before realization dawned on her.
"Ah I get it." The boys got even more confused as I snapped the other set of binders around my own wrist. Omega handed me the rock. I tossed it out and hit the Commander in the side. He flipped around so quickly and flexed his gun toward our general direction.
"Who's there!? Show yourself!" He demanded. The reg next to him stared like he was crazy. The boys all struggled to contain their snickering. I peaked ever so slightly over the crate and held out my hand. The commander looked down at the rock as it moved from side to side. He followed it all the way up the snow covered hill. When he got close enough I gave a curt nod to Tech who holstered his blaster out and held the gun beside the weak spot in the troopers armored side. Omega used the force to pull the other reg beside him behind the crate as well. Echo held his blaster centumeters aeay from him too.
"Not. A. Word." The commander and clone quiverd and vigorously nodded. Damn these cowardly clones are a lot different from the brave and loyal ones I used to know.
"Take off your gear. Both of you." We removed they're helmets for them but they did the rest. But I was surprised to see the commander was the only clone. Who's this other guy? I had a thousand questions but brushed them all away as I heard a sound. It was a faint humming sound but as I went deeper into the force I knew what it was. My new crystals were here. And something tells me Omega's is too.
"Great job. Tech, Echo, stun 'em then put on they're armour." They stunned both the commander and weird random dude. Omega and I scouted ahead. This won't be easy. But nothing worth doing ever is. Echo was the commander and Tech was the random man.
"Now Echo, Tech listen to me very carefully. We are prisoners to be escorted immediately to.. to... to-"
"To who!?" They both asked. I sucked in a deep breath and let it out. You can do this Ahsoka. You can do this. You can do anything.
"To Lord Vader personally. Anakin knows were here already so I'm sure he warned his troops about us. They'll be expecting us which is exactly what we need." If anything goes wrong I have a backup plan anyways. We all nodded. They all undersrood how hard this was for me and I appreciated that. I got pats on the shoulder and a small group hug before we left. Echo and Tech took the troopers weapons and roughly hit my shoulder as we emerged from behind the crate.
"Keep moving, prisoner." I lightly glared at Echo. He didn't have to actually hit me. As we walked down the snow covered land I got multiple different expressions. Some glares, some blank stares, and some stared in absolute awe. Awe? What the hell did I do to deserve that? Once we finally reached the cave entrance a trooper stopped us.
"Hault. I'm gonna need to see some clearance codes." I rolled my eyes at the clones lame attempt to sound authoritative. I lifted both my cuffed hands to wave in front of the clone.
"You don't need to see our clearance codes."
"I... dont need to see your clearance codes."
"We have your permission to continue on."
"You have my permission to continue on."
"Move along."
"Move along." The other clones stared at me like I was insane. They were all wearing helmets except for a few but I could see they're facial expressions through the force.
"So far so good."
"Yeah don't jinx it." I snorted at Echo's snide remark. We entered the caves no problem after that. I saw the ice wall already started to form.
"Echo, Tech stay here. If were not back in 10 minutes leave without us." They were shocked at that order.
"Wha- no! I could never! We could never! Ahsoka you can't ask us to do something like that."
"Sure I can. I just did." His unamused face told me I was getting nowhere with this approach.
"Fine how about this. I'm not asking, I'm ordering. I know you and your arc twin constantly deviated from orders but I need you to follow this one Echo. Trust me." I wiped a single tear that slipped from his eye. To my relief he nodded.
"Good. Come on Omega. We better get moving before the sun goes down."
"What happens then master?"
"Simple. We die." I shrugged off her mortified face and started walking when suddenly Omega stopped.
"What is it?" I asked her. She groaned and rubbed her temples.
"I-I don't know."
"Is it your crystal?"
"Maybe."
"Well then what are we waiting for. Let's get moving." I nodded and broke into a sprint. She followed her instincts. I closed my eyes and reached out in the force. I could sense Omega right in front of me. I could also sense the multiple crystals near us. But there was also something else. A clouded presence. I bumped into something rock solid and fell back. At the time I was thinking that, it's probably jsut a rock. But when I opened my eyes my worst fears had been realized. There he was. The one and only Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader standing right in front of me breathing just as fucked up as the last time I saw him.
"So I was right. The padawan lives."
