Hello everyone! This is the prologue to the sequel of Dying With The Past. And the sequel will take place 13 years later after the last chapter. So tp gove ypu a little idea Omega was 13 in the last chapter now she's 26. Ahsoka was 18 now she's 31. Teagan Tano was just born and now she's 13. Alright sorry if that was confusing I'm not the best at explaining time gaps ya know? Anyway here it is.
13 years later
As I sat there sipping my spotchka I couldn't help but observe my surroundings. It's a nervous habit of mine I've accidentally passed on to my student as well. Peering around the bar I could see a mixture of faces and species of all kinds. They were all here and all drinking for different reasons. That is, all but one. In the corner of the room there was one man who stood out among the rest. Why I'd recognize that armor anywhere. Afterall I am a Mandalorian myself. In a way. Kinda. Not really. But I've still heard the stories! And my blood brother is the Boba Fett so I think that should count for something. I couldn't help but stare at the beautiful shiny helemet and wonder what was under it. He was doing the same thing I was doing, observing the surroundings until his eyes came across me. Or at least what I assumed were eyes under that helmet of his. I looked inside his mind but it was hard with the helmet on for some reason, however I was able to push through. For some reason the only thing on his mind was... me? What the hell? I quickly pushed myself out of his head. The Mandalorian looked down below the table then back up at me. A small gasp escaped my lips when he got up and walked himself over. I gulped down the lump forming in my throat. Im already on a mission the last thing I need is him jeopardizing it.
"Hi." I said to him casually as if I wasn't just staring at him from across the room.
Omega what's your position?
I ignored the voice that belongs to my Master, Ahsoka Tano which I have grown used to hearing in my head.
I'm in position. I have eyes on the target. He's about 5'8 sitting across the room wearing an all black Imperial Captains uniform and he has a weird-ass face with a stupid hat.
Omega, hun, that could literally be anybody on this odd planet.
I let out an audible chuckle which probably confused the Mandalorian. If it did, he never showed it because he was as cool as bantha milk.
"Can I help you?" I asked but no response. He just kept staring me from underneath that shiny metal tin can of his.
"Seriously dude, if your gonna do something funny just get it over with. I don't have time for this shit today." He stayed still and quiet for a long time. Oh dear is he dead? I sighed with relief when he moved his arm to grab something out from under his belt. When he placed it on the table I already regretted looking at him.
"So your a bounty hunter, eh?" I asked casually flinging an arm over the top of the booth I was seated in. He said nothing more. I took another look at the bounty puck he set down in front of me. It was a clear as day image of me rotating on the table which struck some minor fear in my heart but this isn't the first time something like this has happened. However this is the first Mandalorian I've faced since...
"Alright dude I'm kinda in the middle of something here. So are you gonna try to shoot me or say something here or..." I trailed off hoping he would make the first move. I waited patiently for him to do something or say something. He merely slipped one hand over his blaster and one finger over the trigger.
"I can bring you in warm." In one swift movement he brought out his blaster to my temple.
"Or I can bring you in cold." Throughout the whole ordeal of the hunter trying to intimidate me I never even flinched. Even with the gun point at my head I turned so I could stare at him through his visor. I kept eye contact as I used the force to bring my cup to me and take another sip of spotchka. After my cup was placed on the wooden table I let put a soft sigh. What? It was good spotchka.
"Is none of the above an option?"
"Not for you." Apperently he didn't share my sense of humor. I huffed and stood up to my full height. I was only slighly shorter than him. But as my master once told me, size matters not. I stood my ground tall and firm.
"Then I'll make it an option." He showed no movement or sign of weakness so far.
"Come willingly and no one will be harmed... much."
"How about you go away willingly and you won't be harmed... much." He sighed and tilted his head down.
"Alright then, I guess it is none of the above." All of the sudden he grabbed a knife out of his boot and went to stab it into my arm but I jumped up off the stool and stood on top of it. I activated my brilliant icy blue blade to dodge all of my attackers incoming shots.
Master the whole team is worried about you. Please give me your coordinates!
Stay where you are Teagan. I assure you I can handle some tin can perfectly fine.
I knew she knew I was fine but it's never enough to stop her from worrying and getting involved. It was only a matter of a time until she showed up and made things harder.
"Stop shooting up my bar!" The man screamed behind the counter. Everybody else got up and darted out the exit as soon as the first shot was fired. I watched as the target fleed with the rest of the population. I held my hand put in the general direction of I growled and directed my attention back to the Mandalorian.
"You made me lose my target!" I yelled right before deactivating my light saber and tackling him to the ground. I landed on my feet after he was left on the floor. I grabbed my blaster and set it to stun but before I could hit him he got out his rifle and wacked me in the back of my knees. I toppled over on the ground. My blaster flew uncontrollably out of my reach. I tried to punch him in the side where the armor couldn't protect him but he turned at the last second so I punched him straight in the chest plate. The solid, metal chest plate.
"Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow! Why did I do that!?" I didn't expect him to respond and he didn't. I did a kick up off the ground. He tried to stab me with his rifle but I grabbed the end of it and pulled, trying to disarm him. However it didn't work when he activated the electrocution. I let go immediately and backed away holding my wrist.
"Your not bad. Definitely an improvement from the last di'kut who tried to take me on." His shoulders relaxed all the sudden and his stiff arms holding the rifle and blaster drooped.
"You speak Mando'a?" Wow that was the first non-intimidating thing I've heard out of his mouth so far. I was caught off guard by it just long enough for him to toss his weapons aside and straight up tackle me to the floor.
"Why do you care all of the sudden?" I unsheathed a small vibro blade in my glove department and stabbed him in the side, this time actually getting his side. He grunted in pain and I used the moment to flip him over so now I was the one on top of him.
"Believe me, I don't." He touched his wound then splattered the blood on me. I shrieked and backed away so quickly it even scared me.
"Ew! Dude what the hell was that!?" I unsheathed the second mini vibro blade from my other arm and while spinning tossed it at him. The Mandalorian maneuvered so it hit his dark red shoulder pauldron. This guy was good. That much was evidently clear. Ugh did I just use the word evidently? I have been spending way too much time with Tech lately. He charged at me again but using one of the self defense moves Ahsoka taught me I cleverly let myself get trampled then when I was on the floor I kicked him over my head and out the door. I took a second to catch my breath and use the force to bring me my light saber and blaster back. I made sure it was on stun, it was. So I activated the saber and slowly made my way outside. However it didn't go as planned. As soon as I set one foot outside I heard a gun click directly at the side of my head. He had me right where he wanted me. But I also had him right where I wanted him. I stabbed my blaster point into his abdomens side.
"The whole blood thing, that was low."
"So is my stab wound, thanks to you." We never looked away from each other. For a split second, it felt as if I could truly see him and not just the helmet. But that second vanished as soon as I blinked.
"Your the one who attacked me."
"And your the one who didn't come willingly."
"That's it! You are officially an idiot! I'm done talking!" He attempted to shoot his long disintegration rifle at me but I brought my light saber up quick enough to reflect the blast back at him. I thought it would be enough to kill him but I guess I thought wrong. He stumbled back and what should have made him disappear altogether simply shocked him. But he was off guard so I took the time to raise my blaster and stun him. I stunned him once but I guess that wasn't enough to keep this man down so I fired my weapon again. He grunted and fell on his knees, yet still didn't surrender. I had to stun him 3 more times before he fell limp at my feet. I put all of my weapons away. I picked up my discarded blade too and sheathed it back in my fore arm gear. I looked around to see everybody hiding behind varying structures.
"What? Never seen a jedi brawl with a Mandalorian before?" They all said nothing.
"Pff, amateurs. Ya'll really need to get out more." I looked down at the Mandalorian's body again. It was so tempting to have a quick peak under that metal bucket of his, but I refrained. I knew how important armour was to these culture loving killers. He may have tried to kidnap me and sell me to whoever the employer was but that wasn't an excuse to sink down to his level. Glancing around, I couldn't see the target anymore. I groaned and kicked the wall closest to me. I removed my helmet and started the long trek back home to the Revolution, unfortunately empty-handed. When I got back the ramp was lowered already anticipating my arrival back.
"Megs! Thank the force! Or whatever freaky voodoo jedi shit you guys got going on. Where were you?" Fives gave me a quick hug from the side and took my helmet from me.
"At a bar. But I wasn't drinking... much. Please don't tell Ahsoka. Or Teagan. Or Rex, or Hunter. Or anyone preferably." He chuckled and continued leading me up the ramp.
"Don't worry Megs. Your secret is safe with me." I slammed my fist into the button to close the ramp. Fives and I walked in together to the common room where there were two big couches as well as three different hallways. The two hallways on the farthest end led to 4 seperate rooms each hall. A room each with it's own refresher. Then the middle hallway led straight to the cockpit with two side doors leading to different mechanical or storage closets. It was a rarher large ship that I'm thankful to be living in. When we walked in the common room together the first thing we saw was Ahsoka playing dejarik against Echo and Rex. I opened my mouth to say hello but then Fives kinda-
"Omega went to a bar!" All the heads in the room jerked toward us. I shoved Fives away of me and stomped off to my room, ignoring the shouts and begs to come back. I knew I would have to talk to someone about this bounty hunter problem eventually. Not only is it a threat to me, but now it's also a threat to everyone and my missions. Like I said, someone needs to know about this issue before it gets even more complicated and completely out of hand. This was not the plan for such a simple recovery mission. But then again, when a jedi is involved can anything really go as planned? I groaned and c9mplained into my pillow until I heard a small cough. I gasped and flipped upwards with my pistol at the ready.
"Seriously." I let out a breath of relief at hearing Teagan's sharp, intelligent voice. There was someone else in here I could sense though. Teagan always kept her mind guarded unless she was communicating with someone via force so it wasn't her I felt.
"Teagan. Do you feel like-"
"Were being watched? Yeah. Probably because that's the only thing this scum can do now." Before I could question her, she kicked something hiding behind my dresser that made an awful crunch. Then she gwirled something in her hand and I couldn't hold my chuckle in.
"You completed my mission for me." In her hand was fhe end to the tape she had all the way around my targets body. The only places on his body that weren't covered up was his eyes and nose. Besides that he looked like someone wasted Hunter's endless supply of toilet paper on pranking him.
"Mom said we ran out of cuffs so, I improvised. You like it?" Again I chuckled. She knew how to make me laugh with her endless creativity. Teagan is probably the most hard-core no-bullshit taker anyone's ever met. Especially for a 13 year old. To be fair she's been taught the principles of war and battle since infancy so I guess it makes sense but at the same time it's also just part of her personality.
"Yeah yeah sure. All he needs is a lamp shade then we can add him to the interior decor." That's why her and I clicked so well. We both knew how to make each other laugh.
"Seriosuly though, please get him out of here. If it's okay with you I just want some alone time right now." She nodded and left quietly respecting my wishes. Whatever. Right? That was only the third bounty hunter attack... this week. But still! I'm sure they'll give up eventually. For now I should just enjoy however many small missions I have left with my squads before the real war is waged upon the Empire.
So that's basically the first chapter of the sequel: Believing In The Past.
I worked really hard on this entire book and this chapter especially so I hope you appreciate my work enough to continue on reading the sequel once I post it. Thank you my lovely readers, and have a good day/night.
