NOT LAST GOODBYE

Arjun gazed deeply into Subhadra’s eyes, both standing in the same garden where they had always met. "I’ll miss you," she whispered, sadness heavy in her voice. Despite the sorrow clouding her face, she managed to put on a faint, fragile smile. Looking at her smile, Arjun couldn’t help but smile faintly. "Princess Subhadra," he said softly, "whenever you miss me, close your eyes and tell me what you want to say. Whatever message you send, I promise, it will reach me."

She nodded slowly, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. Just as she was about to speak, Arjun gently interrupted her. "And I promise you something else," he said softly. "The next time I visit, I'll make sure I'm certain about my feelings for you." His words left Subhadra momentarily speechless, making her forget whatever she had been about to say, as she simply nodded in response, her heart heavy yet hopeful.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, signaling the time of departure, Arjun and Subhadra exchanged one last lingering glance. They both understood that this time, they would have to rely on trust and patience. With a heavy heart, Subhadra spoke softly, "Kaṅka, whatever you do, remember to make the right choices. I hope you find success in this new identity of yours... not just you, but all of you. And please, take good care of Bua." Her words carried a deep concern and hope, her eyes holding his as they parted ways once more.

Despite the heaviness of the moment, neither Arjun nor Subhadra shed tears this time. Instead, they smiled at each other, sharing an unspoken promise of hope and trust. They both knew their paths would cross again under better circumstances. As a gesture of her love and faith, Subhadra gently removed one of her anklets and tied it around Arjun’s arm. “That will keep reminding you of me,” she said, her eyes shimmering with love. Arjun, touched by the gesture, smiled warmly, feeling the weight of her affection, knowing that their bond would only grow stronger despite the distance.

Arjun smiled warmly, looking at the anklet tied around his arm. “You know exactly what to give me, don’t you?” he teased, his eyes twinkling with affection. Subhadra, in return, laughed softly at his playfulness.

He then pulled out one of his arrows and handed it to her. “Take this. Now, this will remind me of you,” he said, with a silly grin on his face.

Subhadra chuckled at the gesture, appreciating his lightheartedness even in such a serious moment. "You and your arrows," she mused.

Arjun’s smile deepened. “The next time I visit, I’ll tie this anklet around your leg, until then don't wear one anklet” he promised once more, sealing their bond with another heartfelt vow.

Subhadra looked into his eyes, holding the arrow close to her chest. "And I promise," she said softly, her smile widening, "I'll make flowers rain with this arrow of yours next time."

Arjun chuckled, feeling a surge of warmth. “I’m looking forward to that, Princess Subhadra,” he replied, his voice filled with admiration.

Their promises hung in the air like a silent vow, tying them together even in their time apart.

With a gentle nod, they both said in unison, "I'll wait for you." Their voices blended softly, and they couldn't help but share a quiet laugh, knowing that even in their separation, their bond remained strong. The laughter felt like a promise, a shared understanding that no matter the distance, they would always find their way back to one another.

At the farewell, Krishn stood a little distance away, watching the silent exchange between Arjun and Subhadra. Their eyes spoke volumes, filled with unspoken promises and a deep connection that needed no words. With a knowing smile, Krishn finally broke the silence, his voice carrying a hint of amusement and affection, "Oh well, love has a different language." His words lingered in the air, wrapping around the moment like a gentle breeze, while Arjun and Subhadra shared a final glance, their hearts speaking louder than any farewell.

"Love is sacrifice; who would know better than me?" Krishn said, a smile playing on his lips as he reminisced about his own past. His eyes glimmered with the wisdom of experiences shared, each memory a testament to the sacrifices made for love. He watched as Arjun and Subhadra stood together, their bond reflecting the very essence of what he had come to understand: that true love often demands more than just affection; it requires strength, courage, and the willingness to endure hardship for one another.

"Bhaiya, you promised me you'd tell me your story! How many more times do I have to ask you about your life in Vrindavan?" Subhadra insisted, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. She leaned closer, her eagerness palpable.

Krishn chuckled softly, enjoying her enthusiasm. "Ah, dear Subhadra, there are tales aplenty, but they are woven with complexities and joys that can take time to unfold," he replied, his tone playful yet enigmatic.

"Please! Just one story!" she pleaded, her face lighting up with excitement. "I want to hear about your adventures, your friends, and even the mischief you got into!"

With a mock sigh, Krishn leaned back, feigning reluctance. "Very well, but only if you promise to keep your ears open and your heart ready for the magic of the past," he said, a twinkle in his eye.

Subhadra nodded eagerly, settling in for the tale, ready to be transported to the vibrant world of Vrindavan where her brother's adventures awaited.

"Next time," he called over his shoulder, a playful grin on his face as he dashed away from her.

Subhadra gasped in surprise, her eyes wide. "Bhaiya, wait!" she exclaimed, instinctively taking off after him. Laughter bubbled from her as she raced through the garden, determined to catch him.

Arjun watched the scene unfold, a smile spreading across his face. “Like brother, like sister,” he chuckled, appreciating the lively bond between them. The joy of their playful chase brought warmth to his heart, reminding him of the laughter that once filled his own home.

Subhadra's laughter echoed in the air, a melody of happiness as she gained ground on Krishn, who darted skillfully through the blooming flowers. Just as she reached out to grab his arm, he dodged her grasp with a swift sidestep, his laughter mingling with hers.

“Catch me if you can!” he taunted, his voice ringing with mischief, as he darted around a corner, leaving her breathless and exhilarated. Arjun couldn’t help but admire the playful spirit shared between the siblings, a reminder of the love and joy that thrived even amid challenges.
