"IN HERE. IN HERE." MIKE LED EL AND MAX TOWARDS AN ELAVATOR, PRESSING THE BUTTONS HURRIEDLY. Billy was chasing after them, El watching as Max faced her brother at the corridor. He limped towards her with no recognition in his face, Max's breathing quickening. "Billy." She spoke, Mike and El stared at her. "Billy, you don't have to do this. Billy, your name's Billy, Billy Hargrove." Max attempted, her step brother not listening as he quickened his pace. "You live on 4819 Cherry Lane. Billy, please, I'm Max, I'm your-" El flinched back when Billy suddenly smacked Max out of the way, the girl falling onto the ground. Mike yelled, rushing towards Billy before the older teen threw him against the wall.
El yelled, thrusting her hand to Billy as the boy grabbed it. Slamming her head against the wall, he threw her forward, knocking her out. Picking up the girl, Billy left with El over his shoulder.
โ
"MURRAY, YOU ALL SET DOWN THERE?" HOPPER ASKED OVER THE RADIO, SEB LEANING AGAINST A DESK. "All set, but I've got some company which I'd love for you to obliterate." Murray spoke, Hopper nodding. Seb watched the two adults in front of him, Hopper nodding back to him. The boy smiled lightly, relieved all this is finally over. "Will do. Hang tight." Hopper spoke softly, placing the radio down as the two adults placed the keys where they were supposed to go. Beeping sounded as Joyce looked to Hopper, him nodding. Seb moved so he was in-between the two but further back, watching the machine. "On three." Hopper spoke, Joyce nodded. They had to turn both keys at the same time to turn off the machine. Joyce nodded, Hopper doing the same.
"One-" Seb felt the back of his head get grabbed harshly, the boy yelling before his face was smashed onto the desk. Both Hopper and Joyce looked back startled as Seb fell down onto the floor. He felt an unbearable pain in his nose, his head ringing as the man rushed over to punch Hopper. The cop caught him in a chokehold, slamming him against the looking glass as Joyce rushed back to Seb. She cradled his head, seeing his nose rushing out blood. The man got Hopper down, looking back to Joyce and Seb. The woman saw Hopper's gun on the floor, making eye contact with the man before rushing to it and yelping. The man chased after her, grabbing her just before she could get the gun and chucking her against the desk. She grunted in pain as Seb's hand felt for the gun.
The man looked at his hand, stepping on it harshly to stop it grabbing the gun. Seb croaked out a yell, Hopper looking to them quickly. "The American's, I have them. They have Subject Sev-" Seb grunted once Hopper shoved the man forwards and off of him. The men fought as Seb stumbled up, spitting the blood from his mouth. Hopper tried to punch the man before he caught the fist, the yells stinging Seb's ears. "Seven!" Seb looked behind him quickly as he heard a familiar voice.
His sister.
El believed from his tendril that he was there at the mall with her, the girl screaming for him as Billy held her down for the Mind Flayer. Shoving Hopper back into a desk, the man stood up. Only to be met with a red energy ball hitting his chest. Hopper looked to Seb, his eyes shining red as his veins started to glow. "Kid-" Seb held his hand out, holding the man to the door as he croaked a groan. A crack was heard in his ribs, Seb grunting out energy before his powers flickered, slowly going out. The man stumbled forward, a glare at Seb before Hopper intervened, shoving the man back and punching his face. The man was outraged, repeatedly punching Hopper's face as Seb stumbled to the closest desk for support. He watched as two fights went on, Hopper getting beat in both of them.
Who was this man? Why was he hurting Hopper? Seb's Hopper. Seb's father. The man shoved Hopper to the floor, the man yelling in pain. The man turned to Seb, pulling up his sleeves as his breathing was ragged from his cracked rib. Seb stood up straight, looking to Hopper on the floor. Was he dead? Hopper was hurt... This man hurt him. Letting out a yell, Seb charged towards the man, channelling the rest of the energy he had to shove them both out of the room. The two fell down some stairs, the man wincing. Crawling back, he watched as Seb stood up with the help of the railings, walking towards his frame. "Stop," Seb punched the man in the face, "Hurting." Seb punched him again, "My family!-" The man caught his fist, Hopper watching them as he quickly stumbled down the stairs.
The man twisted Seb's hand, making the boy yell in pain. Hopper watched as the man stood up, still twisting Seb's hand as the boy cried. Rushing forward, Hopper shoved the man back, his back bending over the railing as his rib cracked even more, making him grunt. Seb held onto the railing as the man threw Hopper down another set of stairs closer to the machine. The man croaked out in pain, Seb rushing as fast as he could down the stairs as the man kicked Hopper back, him almost falling onto the machine. Getting back up, Hopper saw Seb's deadly glare at the back of the man's head. The teen jumped onto the back of the man, wrapping his arm around the man's neck. Hopper watched as his veins glowed bright, the man yelling as the teen was burning his neck.
Blood smudged onto the man's face and hands as he hurriedly tried to hit Seb's back onto multiple railings to try and get him off.
But he wouldn't budge.
The two got to the machine, Hopper limping towards them. The man threw Seb towards the machine, the teen falling off as his energy was very weak. He fell next to the machine, Hopper standing in front of him before the man. Spitting out blood, he held his fists up to the man, seeing his neck full of charred skin. Joyce panted as she finally got up, seeing Hopper and the man fight. She immediately saw Seb's body limp on the platform, her eyes widening. Hopper grabbed the man's leg from one side of the machine, pulling it and making the man fall on his back. Grouping his hands together, Hopper harshly hit the man's chest, making him groan. Hopper was clouded with rage. He was sick of this man. Sick of continuously running into the muscly man.
And most of all,
Pissed that he had hurt Sebastian. His Sebastian,
His son.
Repeatedly punching the man's chest, Seb's eyes fluttered open, Hopper getting kicked towards the machine. Leaning his head down, the man dodged the fast blades that whirred right above his head. He saw Seb's frame again, Joyce panicking. The man kicked Hopper's neck, pushing his head towards the blades. Seb's consciousness gradually came back, Joyce watching him move slowly. He made eye contact with Hopper, him holding onto the man's ankle to try and get it off. Seb was in a daze watching the strain on Hopper's face not to get his head sliced by the blades. Looking up, he saw two wobbly versions of the man with the charred neck trying to push Hopper to his death. Joyce saw as Seb's power crackled like electric, her eyes widening as he stood up slowly.
Pushing down a lot of pain, the man never noticed him get up, too busy focusing on killing Hopper. Seb limped over to the other side of the machine, his breathing ragged. Joyce was honestly terrified of the boy right now. "Close it now!" Dustin's voice screamed through the radio on the floor, Joyce looking to it. Getting her belt off from her uniform, she attached it to the other key that Hopper was supposed to take. Straining, she tired to grab the key she was supposed to take whilst pulling on the belt. Seb felt little burns on his fingertips as red electricity crackled between them. His eyes were fully red as he glared at the man. Holding his hand towards the man's head, he shot a red energy ball at the man's head, knocking him back. His foot left Hopper's neck as he grabbed onto the railing to not fall off.
Hopper gasped for breath, quickly getting out from under the machine and seeing blood drip onto Seb's shoes. The man looked to Seb with a deadly glare, the two having some sort of stare off. Hopper stared at Seb, scared of the boy. With his hand still out, he put out his other one, clenching them as tendrils attached to the man's upper half. His eyes widened, trying to grab them off of him before Seb spat blood onto the machine with a glare as he spoke.
"Don't mess with my family."
Pulling his hands back, the man flew towards him... and landed a top of the machine. He quickly got cut up, Hopper ducking as Seb watched it tiredly. The fact that a whole body had been thrown onto the machine made it break even more, an electric current laced with the green liquid blocking Seb's entrance to get back to Joyce. Feeling his knees buckle, Seb turned around and grabbed onto the railing behind him, heaving over it. Hopper slowly stood up astounded by what had just happened. He quickly tried to look over the machine at Seb, seeing his hunched frame. That was before he saw the electric current blocking his path back to Joyce again. There was no way they could get back, the current would electrocute them to death.
Looking to the gate, Joyce took quick breaths, shocked by what Seb had just done. "Sebastian, close it now!" Dustin screamed into the radio, Joyce letting a tear fall as she looked to the two boys at the machine. Seb regained his balance lightly, looking for Hopper before the two made eye contact. Neither made any noise, Seb starting to cry. He had done this. If only he had left his father to sort it himself and they wouldn't be stuck here. He's disappointed his sister. Dustin. Lucas. Mike. Robin. Max. Steve. Everyone . Hopper shook his head, gulping down tears to look strong for his son as Seb slowly looked to Joyce. She made eye contact with the boy as he cried more, shaking his head. "Seb, listen to me! Now!" Dustin yelled again, Joyce squeezing her lips together.
She looked to Hopper, finding the man already staring at her. Shaking her head, she didn't want to turn the keys and kill them both. Seb didn't want it. Russian scientists in suits had shown up at the bottom of the machine, guns pointed at Seb. He wasn't getting out of this alive...
No way.
This was the end for him.
Hopper let a tear fall whilst he nodded, Joyce wincing as she looked down, not wanting to make eye contact as she pulled the keys,
Pulling them harshly.
The machine exploded, the scientists melting as no yells were heard through the soundproof glass. The machine stopped whirring, the gate having nothing to hold it open as it closed quickly. Joyce covered her eyes from the blinding light. Max had been horrified after watching the Mind Flayer stab her brother multiple times, screaming as it pierced Billy's heart. The teen fell dead as Max cried, El shuffling backwards. Suddenly, the Mind Flayer started to shake. "Billy!" The ginger girl screamed through the pain, the Mind Flayer screeching as it stomped around in pain. The gate was closed. Now it was going to die. Everyone leant back from the railings as the Mind Flayer slammed into them before finally falling dead on the floor.
Joyce looked back up at the soundproof glass as the explosion ended, starting to sob when she saw no one in Hopper's last spot. Quickly looking over, no one was over where Seb was either, just a charred hat. Sobbing, she never hid her screams as Murray sat breathlessly. "El." Mike rushed over to her, holding her shoulders as the girl hugged him tiredly. "Mike!" She spoke, sobbing into his arms. Max slowly walked towards them, staring at her brother's body on the ground. The couple were too busy comforting one another to notice Max's presence, the girl circling her brother. "Billy?" She asked, the teen croaking as he still had some life in him. Coughing, Max fell down to her knees next to him, repeating his name as her cries got more severe.
"Billy, get up, please. Billy, please, please." Max begged with tears in her eyes, Billy staring at her as he coughed up blood. "I'm sorry." He croaked simply as his head fell to his left, Max holding his shoulders. "Billy." She spoke, her brother exhaling sharply before never inhaling. "Billy. Billy." Max shook her brother's corpse, crying more and more over him. "Billy, wake up, please, Billy!" Max begged, El moving forward. "Max, I'm sorry." She spoke softly, letting her best friend fall into her arms. "Billy..." Max sobbed, staring at her brother as Mike watched horrified. "It's okay. It's okay." El soothed, looking towards Mike. She started to cry herself, just hoping that Hopper and Seb came back safely. She needed them right now.
She needed them both.
Joyce cried as she walked down to Hopper's spot, holding Seb's charred hat. "Hop." She cried, squeezing the hat to her chest. Murray rushed behind her, turning her around. "Where's Jim and that kid that can like move things?" Murray asked, Joyce crying more. She looked down to the hat, Murray doing the same. Inhaling sharply, Joyce didn't even have to tell him the answer. Gasping, the two turned to see Russians entering the room. The two ran as the Russians tried to chase after them, Joyce taking the hat with her. Dustin heard nothing from the radio except Russian yelling, both him and Erica staring as helicopters flew towards the mall. They landed in front of the mall, soldiers rushing out. Doctor Sam Owens rushed out of the helicopter too, not bothering to shield himself from the pouring rain.
Murray led Joyce gently out of the same vent, soldiers barging through the door. "Hands up!" They yelled, Murray and Joyce doing as told. Joyce held up the hat, multiple guns pointed at them. "We're Americans! Don't shoot!" Murray repeated, the soldiers infiltrating the Russian base. They searched the machine, seeing little dots of blood covering it. Seb's blood. Doctor Owens walked forwards towards the gate, watching as it closed fully. Multiple ambulances and firefighters had also rushed towards the mall, Joyce and Murray walking with the soldiers. The former was frantically looking for her two sons, making eye contact with Will as he was sat at the back of an ambulance. The boy jumped up, running towards his mother as she sobbed. The two held a tight hug, both crying together. "Thank God!" Joyce let out, Will's breathing ragged.
"Where's Sebastian?" He asked, longing to see his best friend. Joyce tensed up, starting to cry more. El was walking around lost, looking for Hopper and Seb. She needed to see them both. Making eye contact with El, Joyce shook her head at her son's question. El's face dropped, looking to Joyce hopefully. She only shook her head more, Will's shoulders dropping. "He's gone?" He asked his mother, the woman sobbing into her son's shoulder. Will started to cry more too, El staring at the two. Seb was gone. Her brother. Her brother was dead. Seven Hopper, her twin brother. Dead. Jim Hopper, her father. Dead. She was on her own...
El sobbed in her spot as Joyce squeezed her eyes shut.
