y/n hearts the message and i smile, turning my phone off. "the pool party's at 8," i tell madison. "did your girlfriend text you that?" madison says. i face her, unimpressed as she laughs. "not my girlfriend." i remind her, going to text conan and gracie.
y/n's pov
i finish putting on my makeup, going to the mirror.
(what we're wearing)
i adjust the belt on my jeans, making sure they fit. "you ready to go?" madelyn asks. "yeah, ready." i confirm. "what, no sunglasses today?" madelyn says, chuckling. "no, not for dinner. maybe for the pool party." i say, and we leave the room.
we get to the restaurant dining room, sitting at the same table we sat last time, coincidentally in the same seats. the same band that performed yesterday are back up on the stage, preparing their instruments and microphones. i look through the menu, not realizing the seat beside me pulls out. i look up and to my right, seeing olivia sit down. "hey," i say, smiling. "hi," she replies, smiling back at me. she picks up a menu from the middle of the table, having to slightly stand up. she sits back down, opening it.
i look over to olivia, seeing her still looking at her menu. "what're you getting?" i ask her. "probably... chicken piccata. what about you?" she decides. "gnocchi tonight," i say as the waiter comes around.
i place my fork down, wiping my mouth with the napkin. "hey olivia, you should go up on the stage and play one of those songs you wrote!" gracie says. "you wish," olivia says, chuckling. "you write songs?" i ask, olivia turning her gaze to me. "uh yeah, sort of. i don't- it's just for fun, really." "you should go up and perform one." i suggest, smiling. "no way."
i look around the restaurant, seeing basically no one here. the performers were gone, instruments still on the stage, including the piano. "you should play, olivia!" timothee says. we've been nagging her all night, getting the same response.
i stand up too, as olivia sits at the piano, everyone watching from their seats. "which song are you playing, olivia?" gracie asks. "it's called 'all i want'." she says. "oh, is this the song you wrote when you were all depressed and heart broken?" conan asks. "she's always depressed and heart broken." madison says, making olivia chuckle.
i lay my hands on the piano top, standing on the left of the piano, waiting for olivia to start singing. i can tell she's nervous by the way her leg moves up and down as she sits stiffly on the cushioned piano chair. her left hand plays a lower note, her right hand playing the chord after. she switches chords, playing them the same amount of time before switching again. "found a guy, told me i was a star..." she sings perfectly, making me smile. "he held the door, held my hand in the dark," she inhales again, "and he's perfect on paper, but he's lying to my face." she sings. "does he think that i'm the kind of girl who needs to be saved?" she plays the chords again, starting the second verse. i watch carefully, smiling at olivia as i keep my gaze on her, leaning against the piano as she looks at the keys.
everyone gives subtle 'woops' and cheers, making olivia chuckle before she starts singing again. "and there's one of boy, he's from my past... we fell in love, but it didn't last," she sings, doing a run perfectly on the word 'last'. " 'cause the second i figure it out, he pushes me away," she sings, inhaling again, "and i won't fight for love if you won't meet me half way... and i say that i'm through but this song's still for you," she sings, looking at me with a smile and her eyebrows raised at the last part as she gives another nervous laugh, chords still playing as she looks back down. "all i want is love that lasts, is all i want too much to ask... is there something wrong with me?" she sings, the chords going higher than lower. "all i want is a good - um, person -," she says in her normal tone, making me laugh as she continues to sing, smiling. "are my expectations far too high, tried my best but what can i say all i have is myself at the end of the day... but should that be enough... for me?" she does a run on 'me' again, and i slowly move my head to the beat.
"and all i want is for that to be okay..." she sings, ending on a chord. she looks up, smiling as she plays the chords quickly for fun. "holy shit!" i exclaim, clapping along with the others. olivia stands up, pushing the chair in, chuckling. "i didn't know you were so good at singing and playing the piano," i say, olivia standing opposite me as she chuckles, shaking her head. "sorry, am i embarrassing you?" i ask cautiously. "no! thank you, though." she says, smiling. "you really were in your heart broken era, weren't you?" i say, laughing.
olivia's pov
i take out a swimsuit, madison calling my name. "look at this!" she says, turning her phone to me. i walk towards her to see what it is, and madison presses play on the video. she was filming me playing 'all i want', getting y/n facing the camera's way and my side profile in the frame. i smile at the video, watching y/n as i hear my singing. "do you see the look she's giving you?!" madison says. "she's so enchanted by you!" the video stops and madison turns off her phone. "she gives everyone that look," i say, walking to the bathroom. madison scoffs and i close the bathroom door. "she doesn't!" madison yells, making me laugh, shaking my head.
an hour or so passed, and we start heading to the pool. i make sure my blue bikini was tight, looking around. upbeat music was playing from the speakers, quite a lot of teenagers look about 18 to 25. the bar was pretty packed, around 5 boys surrounding a stool. i move my head, trying to see who or what they were doing, and i see y/n. i smile, seeing her laugh as a boy takes off her sunglasses, placing it on him. she laughs as the boys laugh too, and i feel a tap on my shoulder. "jealous?" conan asks. "we aren't dating," i say, still looking at y/n. "but she has you wrapped around her finger," madison adds. i accidentally hum in response, everyone laughing. "you gonna stop staring ...or?" gracie says, putting her hand on my shoulder. i watch as the boy gives the glasses back to y/n and she holds it, nodding. she looks behind him, and we make eye contact. y/n smiles, getting off the stool as the boys naturally make way for her as she walks past them. i smile back, waving as she probably can't hear me over the music. "there you guys are!" she says, stopping in front of me.
she looks at conan, madison and gracie smiling, looking back at me once they leave. "hey!" she says. "hi, y/n!" i keep the same energy back. "quite the crowd entertainer, huh?" i say, chuckling as i look behind y/n. she turns around, looking at the group of boys minding their own business. y/n laughs softly, shaking her head. "no, not really," she says, "to be honest, i don't even remember any of their names even though they told me 3 minutes ago." she admits, making me laugh. an exhale of relief comes out of my lips as y/n puts on her black sunglasses, matching her black bikini.
(these! prettiest girl omg)
there's a silence between y/n and i, music playing in the background. i move my hands up to y/n's glasses, pulling them up so it sits on her head. "you don't like the sunglasses?" y/n asks. "no i do, but i just wanna see your eyes." i say, making y/n giggle as she looks down. "so, where's everyone else?" i ask. "they're around here somewhere, maybe in the pool." she guesses. "isn't it cold?" "i think it's heated, wanna go?" she asks. i agree, and we walk over to the pool after y/n places her glasses on her tanning bed.
y/n's pov
i jump into the pool, reaching my arms out on the side for olivia to come in. she smiles, bending down to take my hands as she drops down. "warm isn't it?" i say. "probably because someone peed in here, not because the pools heated." she says, making me laugh. "just don't swallow the water, olivia." i say, olivia smiling. "you can call me liv if you want," she says. "okay, liv." i say, smiling too.
i splash madelyn with water as she jerks back, covering her face. "hey to you too!" she says, splashing me back. i laugh, olivia giggling along. "you want some splashes too, liv?" i joke to olivia, causing her to laugh more. "no, i think i'm okay for tonight." she exclaims, smiling.
we all sit in the spa, a few other people in it. i sit next to olivia and conan, yawning. "do you know what time it is?" i ask olivia. "i've got no idea, my phone's on the tanning bed," she says. "it's 11:02," a girl who looks around 21 says. "already? thank you," i thank. "did you wanna go soon y/n?" harry asks. "yeah, i'll probably go soon. you guys can stay here if you want though," i say. "nah i was thinking of going too, getting tired." he says.
we all agree to go back after another 30 minutes, getting out of the spa. we all have a few drinks, but not enough to get drunk. after half an hour i walk over to the tanning bed, putting my sunglasses on my head. i throw the towel around me, waiting for everyone else. "where's your towel?" i ask olivia. "i may or may not... have forgotten it on my bed." she says, and i laugh, unwrapping my towel. "take it," i say, olivia immediately shaking her head. "it's yours y/n, and it's cold out here." she says. "exactly, it's cold! take it before you get sick." i say, motioning the towel to olivia. she lightly pushes it back to me, laughing. "stop it y/n! just have the towel, i'm not cold." she says. i bring my hand to her arm, laughing as she feels cold. "what a liar, take it! everyone's literally going without us" i say, olivia starting to walk away with a chuckle. i roll my eyes, walking up to olivia as i wrap the towel half around me. i walk next to her, placing the other half of the towel over olivia, wrapping my arm around theh back of her neck, holding the towel. she looks at me, smiling as she leans into me. i wrap the towel tighter around her as we walk a little behind the rest of the group. "did you have fun tonight?" i ask as the automatic doors open to go inside. "yeah it was fun, how about you?" liv asks back. "me too, the drinks were pretty nice." i say. " agreed." "doesn't beat the unlimited ice-cream, though!" i say, making olivia laugh as i smile.
we walk into the elevator and the door closes, everyone looking at us. "what?" i say, weirded out. "did you forget your towel, olivia?" madison asks. "yeah, i did. i know you told me to get it, i just forgot to grab it before we left." she says. "it's cool, i'm her personal warmer." i say, wrapping my other arm around olivia as i hug her tight. liv laughs, hugging me back as the elevator door opens.
we get to our room, and i take off the towel. "did you want the towel for when you're walking to your room?" i ask. "our room is literally like... 10 steps away, i'll be okay." she says, smiling. "okay, if you insist." i say. "so i'll see you tomorrow?" she asks. i hum, nodding. "goodnight, liv." i say. "goodnight, y/n." she says. i smile, walking into the room as olivia walks away.
