i depart ways with the rest of the group as they head to olivia's room, swiping my card on the door and opening it. "3136, 3136." i repeat in my head so i don't forget. i get my sweatpants and t-shirt, heading to the bathroom. i take off my makeup, grabbing my sweatshirt as i leave the room. "3136," i mumble again, walking down the hall to olivia's room.

knocking on the door, i look up to double check it's the right one. the door swings open, olivia holding the side of the door, other hand seemingly on the other side of the door's knob. "hey! come in," she says, stepping to the side smiling. i smile back, stepping in as olivia closes the door behind.

i look around the room, seeing everyone sitting on the bed. "your room's the same as ours." i comment. "yours is probably cleaner though," olivia says, chuckling.

(the room)

olivia sits where her empty chair was and i kneel behind madelyn, placing my hands on top of her shoulder as i watch the card game. "what's the game?" i ask. "it's called bullshit. you start off with one card, and the next person has to place a card that's either a high or lower number than that card facing flat down as you call out what you put down. if you don't have the card, you have to lie. but if someone calls you out saying bullshit and they were right, you get all the cards underneath, if the person was wrong, they get the cards." gracie explains. "i see," i say, watching the game. "wanna play?" olivia asks, about 12 cards in her hands. "no i'm good, i suck at keeping my face straight." i say, timothee putting his card facing down on top of the deck. "seven." he names the card. i look at madelyn's card as she picks a three, placing it down. "six." she lies. no one suspects anything, the game continuing.

i walk around the bed, as everyone has their turn, a few lies being said. the pile of cards in the middle were pretty big, maybe a little more than a quarter of the deck. i get to olivia, standing behind her as gracie next to her puts down a card, saying four. i  lean forward a bit, looking at the spread out cards olivia has, placing my hands on her shoulders. she puts down a three, as she lets out a small laugh. "um, three." she says, making everyone look at her suspiciously. i smile as harry calls out bullshit. he flips the card over, showing the three and olivia laughs, leaning back into me as i laugh too. "why were you so suspicious?!" he asks, grabbing the pile of cards. "threw you off, didn't i?" olivia exclaims. he laughs, nodding as she re-organises his cards.

i start to massage olivia's shoulder gently as she leans forward again, both of us watching the game. olivia turns her upper body around, our noses just flicking each others in the process. i quickly jerk my body back, chuckling as olivia gives out a nervous laugh. "sorry," she apologizes. "all good," i respond, taking my hands off her shoulders. olivia moves over, looking at me with a smile. "come sit." she says. i smile, sitting next to her. "thanks," i say quietly. she hums in acknowledgement, turning her attention back to the game. i watch the game too, looking at olivia as she keeps a small smile on her.i catch myself staring at her and i smile too, looking down as i fiddle with my fingers.

olivia finishes her deck of cards, watching the others play. "you can still call bullshit, liv. but if you're wrong, you get those cards!" gracie says. "i think i'd rather enjoy my victory for a bit," olivia says, smiling. "i'm too good at this game, y/n!" olivia says, facing me as she smiles cutely. "yeah, i think you are!" i reply, olivia giggling as she turns to face me.

the world melts away as olivia and i have our own quiet conversation as the others are still playing their game, almost like olivia and i are the only ones on the cruise- or even- the world. "you know, you haven't told me where you guys are from." i say. "we're from la," she says. "no way, same!" i respond, olivia's eyes lighting up as i gasp excitedly. "seriously?!" she says, laughing. "yeah, cali!" i say. "wait same!" she yells and we laugh a little too loudly. "calm down, girls!" harry says, chuckling. we talk about our locations, realizing olivia lives 20 minutes away from me. "maybe we can hang out after this," i subtly suggest. "that's if we even find each other, we don't even have each other's phone numbers." she says.

i pick up my phone, going to contacts after checking the time, which it was 11:53pm. i face my phone, olivia looking up at me, smiling as she looks back down. her hands place on top of mine as she holds the phone over my hand, entering her phone number. i look into olivia's soft, brown eyes as they're fixated on my phone, smiling as my eyes fall down to olivia's lips, then down to our touching hands. i swallow, olivia looking back up. "there we go." she says, letting go of my hands. i turn my phone around, smiling at the contact name. "really? 'girl from cruise'?" i say, chuckling as olivia gives me a proud smile. "you're more than a girl from a cruise, olivia." i say under my breath, but loud enough for olivia to hear.

i text olivia hi :), olivia picking up her phone as she laughs after she reads it. "we're right next to each other." she says. "just making sure you didn't give me the wrong number," i say, smiling. "i would never." she says, responding with a hi back.

olivia's pov

i lay on the bed after y/n and her friends leave, closing my eyes as my lips form a smile. more than a girl from a cruise. "she is so in love with you, liv!" madison says, flopping on the bed next to me. "no she's not," i say softly, eyes still closed. "you're fucking with me, right?" "not fucking with you." "wait, you didn't see it, that's right!" madison says. "see what?" i say, sitting up as madison sits up with me. "when you were putting in your phone number," madison says, giggling as she covers her face. "just say, madison!" i say, waiting impatiently. "y/n was staring at you, love literally written on her eyes. not even joking, she looked like she was genuinely in love with you. she was even looking at you when you were still playing the game too!" madison says. "stop it, madison! what if she doesn't even like me? you're giving my hopes up!" i say, falling onto the bed. "she does like you! make the first move!" "no way in hell! she'd probably stop hanging out with me if she even knew i had a crush on her, we've known each other for literally three days!" i say, making madison laugh.

i pick up my phone, refreshing my messages, hoping that y/n texted me back. no luck. i tap her contact number, editing the blank contact photo. i go to the camera roll, picking the photo of y/n and half of my face, smiling as i confirm the picture.

y/n's pov

madelyn, harry and timothee and i enter the elevators, and i tap the buffett level. "for once you're on time, y/n." harry says. "i actually got up before you guys." i add as harry crosses his arms, chuckling.

timothee and i go to get food first while madelyn and harry save our spot. "you know, there's this 18 plus pool thing tonight. we should go, drink and everything there." timothee informs. "yeah, but don't get drunk." i say, smiling.

timothee goes to get a coffee and i go to get food. i turn a corner and hear a gasp, stopping abruptly as arms grab my forearms. olivia stops herself from running into me, letting go of my arms. "hey, i should probably look before i turn a corner, sorry." i say, chuckling. olivia laughs, shaking her head. "i wasn't looking either, to be honest." she admits, smiling. "have you eaten yet?" i ask, smiling too. "no, i was actually going to get a plate to eat now." she says. "well for starters, the plate are this way." i say, pointing behind her. secondly, where's everyone else?" i ask, looking around. "they've eaten already, in their rooms." she tells me. "so you're going to eat by yourself?" i ask, olivia nodding. "it's not as sad as you think," she says, giggling. "you can come eat with us, we just got down." i say, and we walk to the plates. "thank you," olivia says as i hand her a plate.

olivia sits next to me, madelyn and harry saying hi to olivia as they walk to get food. "what're you guys doing today?" i ask, picking up my fork. "no idea, how about you guys?" olivia asks, placing a piece of bacon in her mouth. "no idea either," i say, chuckling.

i walk into the elevator with olivia as timothee, madelyn and harry left the buffet a while ago. "have you visited the water slide?" i ask. "no, not yet. we've barely done anything, to be honest. half the time we're with you guys." olivia says. "speaking of hanging out together, timothee says there's this 18 plus pool party later tonight, would you guys wanna go?" i ask, hoping she says yes. "yeah, of course!" olivia says, and i instantly smile. "okay, cool." i say, olivia smiling back.

the elevator stops, the doors opening as about 12 people wait to go in. i move closer to olivia, smiling politely as they walk in. almost everyone was in, and it started to get squishy. i move even closer to olivia as i hear quiet talking. i hear olivia softly chuckle as everyone still wasn't in, making me smile. "just 2 people more, everyone." i hear someone say, a few people laughing quietly. "come closer," olivia whispers to me. i move towards olivia as she leans on the walls in the corner, smiling. our bodies are almost pressed against each other, olivia's eyes not leaving mine.

the elevator door closes as i get pushed softly towards olivia in the crammed elevator, not minding one bit. my eyes trail down to her hair, softly separating a few strands as i twirl it around my fingers. i look a little up at olivia through my eyelashes as her eyes are still on mine. i subconsciously stare into olivia's eyes, being completely mesmerised as my fingers are still around her hair.

i turn the upper half of my body around quickly, letting go of olivia's hair in the process after feeling a few taps on my shoulder. "is this your level?" a lady asks, pointing up to the elevator's digital indicator. "oh! yeah, sorry." i say, looking back to olivia as i nod my head to the door. everyone starts to make a pathway, moving back as i squish through. i feel a hand reach for mine and i look down, olivia's hand holding mine as i guide her out of the elevator.

she lets go of my hand as we leave the elevator, the door closing. "crowded elevator." i say, olivia laughing as she nods. we start to walk to our rooms, not saying a word. "wait, we past your room." olivia says, stopping. "yeah, i know. i'm walking you back to your room." i say, olivia jogging to catch up to me. "thanks," she says. we get to her door as olivia unlocks it with a swift tap with the card. olivia walks in, holding the door as she smiles at me. "i'll text you the time the pool party is, okay?" i say, olivia nodding as she hums. "yeah, please." she says. i take a few steps away from the door, smiling. "see you later," i say. "bye, y/n!" olivia says. i turn to the side, starting to walk away as i hear the door shut. i smile to myself, remembering what happened the elevator. i haven't felt something like this in years, let alone feeling it in 4 days. i chuckle, doing small skips to my room.

olivia's pov

i walk into the room, seeing madison. "madison!" i say, smiling as she looks up, smiling too. "you'll never guess what happened in the elevator up with y/n." i say, sitting on the bed. "you guys kissed?!" madison says, jumping to conclusions. "no-" "you guys had sex?!" "no!" i exclaim, madison laughing. "we had this moment! like 10 people needed to go into the elevator, so y/n had to move closer to me. we were so close! she was looking into my eyes and i was looking in hers as she played with a few strands of my hair, it was perfect!"
