"this day could not get much better!"
Katy had snuck Kitty into the teachers lounge so that they could have lunch together without being interrupted. She was grateful for Kitty. During their time apart, they'd stayed in closer contact than she had with any of the other underclassmen that were supposed to stay at Mckinley and somehow, this meant that they'd become even closer friends.
Kitty was relaying her chat with Rachel that morning, where she'd tried to convince her to rejoin the glee club and Katy could tell she'd been slightly convinced.
She completely understood why Kitty didn't want to go back to the new directions after how they'd treated her. All of the people she'd grown to love and let her barriers down for had left her behind, all by herself and that had hurt her. Trust wasn't something Kitty Wilde gave easily and she hated the feeling of being vulnerable to getting hurt again.
Pressure her to join again was the last thing Katy wanted to do, though she could tell how much she wanted to join deep inside.
Pointing straight at her, Kitty shook her head, "and no, I am not joining for you."
"I know." Katy replied with a smile, "I just want you to join for you."
"What do you mean?" Kitty asked, tilting her head in confusion.
"I mean, you loved glee club when you were in it and I just like to see you happy."
Shrugging her shoulders with a quick smile, Kitty fiddled with her fingers as she replied, "I am happy. I mean, I'd rather be here with you than in the choir room with the incest twins."
Shaking her head through a laugh, Katy lifted an eyebrow, "you've gotta stop calling them that, Kitty."
"Okay, okay." Kitty rolled her eyes, "that doesn't mean they're not though."
Throwing a candy at her in retaliation, they smiled at each other, laughing together as they sat alone just goofing off in the teachers lounge. Stopping their play by snatching the bag of candy out of Katy's hands, Kitty sat back, fidgeting in her chair slightly as she let her guard down, "I never thanked you for staying in touch with me."
"You don't have to thank me. I wanted to stay in touch with you." Katy assured her, frowning slightly at her rare vulnerability.
"Nobody else did." Kitty whispered, looking down to hide her embarrassed blush, "not even Artie."
"Well they're stupid."
Harshly pushing down the lump in her throat, Kitty pursed her lips slightly as her voice broke slightly, "but that's what I'm afraid of. It's all gonna go downhill again and I'm gonna have to go through loosing everyone all over again."
Pulling her chair round so she was right next to her, Katy took her hand and squeezed it tightly, "I can't promise you that's not going to happen." She started, quietly, "but I promise you that if it does, you will always have me. Whether you choose to stay here with me, or go to New York or Chicago or anywhere in the world, you'll always have me."
"You mean that?" Kitty questioned, chewing on the inside of her lip.
"Of course I mean that. You're my best friend." Katy assured her, gently, giving her hand another squeeze as Kitty nodded in understanding.
"And you're my best friend. Even if you're a super cheesy total nerd." She said, a smile breaking out onto her face as Katy giggled, wrapping her arms around her in a hug.

Kurt and Blaine were missing and everyone was freaking out. Rushing backstage to where the Warblers were worriedly pacing back and forth, Sam and Katy has decided to take measures into their own hands.
"Right. Two of our best friends are missing and the other one is currently freaking out." Katy thought out loud, "that makes us the most responsible people left."
"Nope. Just you." Sam shrugged, with panic in his eyes, "my best friend is missing and my head is about to explode."
Nodding her head, Katy gave him the same expression, "same. I'm freaking out on the inside."
"I don't think that helps us right now." He grimaced, pacing slightly.
"Me neither." Katy replied, squeezing her eyes shut and running her hands through her hair to compose herself, "right. Teacher mode." She announced through a deep breathe, shaking her shoulders back, "babe, can you go check on Rachel? I'll deal with the Warblers."
Grinning with his new sense of direction, Sam held up his hand and gave her an enthusiastic high five, "you got it babe."
Quickly strolling over to the stressed looking Warblers, she gave them a warm smile as she introduced herself, "Um, hi. I'm Katy. I'm Blaine's best friend, I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to help?"
"Skylar." One guy, who was obviously head warbler, said, standing forward from the group and holding out his hand for her to shake, "well it would be great if you could get in touch with Blaine, we can't find him anywhere."
"I don't know where Blaine is either." She told him apologetically, "I've called him forty-seven times."
Widening his eyes slightly in amazement, he stammered out a reply, "wow, that's a lot." He started quietly before shaking his head, "I just hope the worry isn't going to affect our performance."
"It won't." Katy assured him quickly, "you're all gonna go out there and smash it. Sam and I will cheer you on just as Blaine would do because he's like our child, which kind of makes you guys like our grandkids."
"Right." Skylar replied slowly.
"Sorry. I'm just nervous." Katy blushed slightly as his clear worry for her mental state, "not often your best friend mysteriously disappears."
Chuckling slightly, Skylar looked over his shoulder as the Warblers tried to work out what was going on, "not often your coach mysteriously disappears either. I better go let everyone know that he's definitely not here."
"I'll be in the audience if you need anything." She nodded back, giving the group a reassuring thumbs up before skipping off the stage and taking her seat between Sam and Rachel to watch them perform.
"Thank you." He smiled genuinely, rushing over to Sue to let her know what was going on.
Gasping over exaggeratively, Sue didn't seem as bothered by the disappearances of Kurt and Blaine as everyone else, "oh my goodness, I've just been informed by head warbler, whose name is probably Tristan or Crispin or Montague or something annoyingly fay, that their coach is currently missing. Which of course is a shock to all of us. Blaine, our hopes and prayers are with you but the show must go on. Ladies and lady boys, I present to you, the Dalton Academy Warblers!"
Katy cheered especially loudly as the curtain came up, nudging Sam, Rachel and the rest of the new directions to do so too and glaring at Vocal Adrenaline as they seemed disgusted at her support.
When they were finished, Blaine and Kurt were still nowhere to be seen. Looking between Sam and Rachel, they all knew that something was definitely up as the frantically refreshed all of their messages in hopes that one from Kurt or Blaine would pop up and tell them where they were.

Kitty had finally agreed to join the glee club again and Rachel seemed to be in the best mood that she had been in since Kurt had disappeared. Already proving herself to be a key member of the team, Kitty had taken it upon herself to help Rachel and Katy create the perfect set list that even Sue Sylvester would love.
As Kitty opened the lock to her office, Rachel glanced around nervously as she held the torch to the lock, "I probably shouldn't be letting you do this. Seen as you're a student and all." She whispered, terrified, "Plus, we're probably being recorded."
"No, I already cut the main line to her security cameras and the alarm." Kitty informed her casually.
"I told you Kitty would have it all sorted, Rach." Katy chuckled, slightly amused.
"I may not have lived in some vague outer borough of New York City, but there's a reason I was the only glee kid to survive Sue Sylvester's regime at Mckinley." Kitty shrugged, confidently sitting down on Sue's chair and opening the computer, "because I'm ruthless too."
Frowning slightly, Rachel was still worried about the idea of breaking into Sue's office, "Wait, how do you know Sue's password?"
"I bribed Becky with a box of smuggled Mexican Twinkie's." Kitty told her.
"She's got a thing for third-world snack cakes made from real sugar and animal shortening." Katy explained, shrugging her shoulders at Rachel to tell her that she didn't really know either.
Passing Rachel the slip of paper with the password written on it, Kitty grimaced slightly as she typed it into the computer, opening it immediately, "I don't want to know what 'thunderbolton69' means but she hasn't changed it in years."
"Okay, so what exactly are we looking for?"
Explaining as Kitty opened the files, Katy sent Rachel a mischievous smile, "Sue has a secret playlist of songs that she's so emotionally vulnerable to that they're hidden in an encrypted, password-protected folder, only she can access."
Furrowing her eyebrows in worried confusion, Rachel squinted at the computer as Kitty seemed to know exactly what to type in, "wait, how do you know that password?"
"She told me it when I was suspended and we sat eating ice cream and crying for a while." Katy shrugged, smirking slightly at Rachel's amazement.
"Wait you got suspended?" She asked, widening her eyes.
"She had a yelling match with Mr Schue when he suspended Marley for not wearing a seashell bikini." Kitty told her casually, "it was brilliant."
Still staring at Katy, open mouthed and with complete amazement, Rachel was shaken back to reality with a harsh nudge from Kitty as the file had loaded, revealing Sue Sylvester's emotionally vulnerable playlist, "take a look at these."
Smirking at each other confidently as they gazed down the playlist, the girls hoped that this would mean that they had invitationals in the bag.

"Sam, we don't have time for a sing-a-long! The new directions go on in a minute!" Katy exclaimed as Sam eagerly dragged her to the science room.
"Yes we do, Rachel's in there, we can be a bit late." He smiled back at her, grabbing his guitar from off of the table and beginning to play the opening chords to 'lucky', smiling at her to persuade her to join in.
Giving in with a huge smile, Katy joined in when her part came along. Singing and dancing around together, they were both reminded of that first week in glee club together. The beginning of it all.
Katy couldn't hide her happiness, neither did she want to. That's how being with Sam Evans made her feel. The safety to just dance around with someone she loved without feeling the need to hide any part of herself from him and the joy of just being able to pick up a guitar and sing together like no one else mattered was special. She was grateful for that song for letting her feel all of that.
Sam smiled as she smiled. He could feel his heart beating loudly but he ignored it, focusing on getting what he was about to do exactly right. Everything felt so right when he was with her, they kept each other grounded without stopping each other from dreaming and whenever they were together he just felt happy. He wanted that forever.
They finished the song just the same as the first time they'd sang it, with his hand in hers, though this time they didn't let go.
Sam let out a shaky breathe, holding on to her hand tightly as he spoke, "do you mind taking a seat? there's something I need to say to you."
Nodding obligingly, Katy hopped onto the nearest table with a nervous smile, waiting for him to go on.
"You know, when we first sang that song, I had no idea that I really would be falling in love with my best friend. I didn't know that you'd be the person I wanted to do everything in my life with. And I'm glad you are, because looking at you now, I know there's no one else i'd rather spend the rest of my life with. I wanna spend all my time laughing with you, crying with you, smiling with you and just loving you." Sam said, taking a nervous breathe as he got down onto one knee and held out a ring box, gazing straight at her with hope in his eyes as Katy's hands flew to her cheeks and her eyes began to get glossy, "so, Katy, my best friend, my love, my everything, will you marry me?"
"Yes." She whispered, nodding her head quickly, a wide smile growing on her lips.
"Yeah?" He confirmed, bursting with happiness.
"Yeah!" She nodded, taking off the promise ring and letting him slip the engagement ring onto her finger.
Breaking into a smile, she threw her arms around his neck as he stood up, wrapping her legs around his waist as he held her tightly and dug his face into her neck. Pulling back slightly, Katy cupped his face in her hands, caressing his cheek slightly as she pressed her lips against his.
"I love you so much." She breathed out.
"I love you so much too." He whispered, smiling fondly as he wiped a tear away from her cheek, "Don't cry, you'll make me cry."
Giggling as he gently placed her down on the ground, Katy shrugged slightly against his embrace, "I'm happy crying. I'm so happy right now."
"So am I, baby." Sam sighed out happily, kissing her hair and squeezing her lovingly, holding her at arms length as she gazed at her new ring, "did I do it right?"
Holding his hand up to her lips and placing a kiss against it, she nodded, "It was perfect."

They arrived back in the auditorium just in time to hear the end of the new directions first performance of 'Must Have Been Love.' Sitting down next to each other, Katy cuddled right up to Sam's side, blowing Kitty a quick kiss as she caught her eye.
As they finished their last note, they jumped out of their seats, cheering extremely loudly until they noticed Blaine coming round from the wings. Eyes widened in relief, they almost tripped over each other and crashed straight into him in a massive hug, almost knocking him over.
"Where have you been? We've been so worried about you!" Katy hissed, cupping Blaine's face in her hands.
"Are you okay dude?" Sam added, examining Blaine with a small frown.
Shaking them off with a smile, Blaine squeezed both of their hands and let out a deep breathe, "it's a long story." He whispered, sitting down next to them in their seats for the next song.
By the time, 'All Out Of Love' started playing, Sue had had just about all she could take of her emotionally vulnerable songs and had collapsed in one of the seats, staring open mouthed as they performed. Dancing along in their seats, Sam and Katy hadn't noticed this until Blaine gave them a nudge, pointing worriedly over to where she was rocking back and forth in her seat, sobbing.
Finally, it was time for Sue to announce the results and only Sam and Katy were left in the auditorium seats, throwing excited thumbs ups at Blaine and the Warblers and New Directions.
"In third place and just not doing a very good job at all, ladies and gentlemen, the Dalton Academy Warblers."
"What?" Blaine outraged, as Skylar went up to collect a ribbon with a utility room sigh attached to it, with a blankly annoyed look on his face.
Turning to him with a harsh shrug, Sue gave him a pat on the back as he walked away, "you really didn't do a very good job."
"I thought you were great!" Katy called out supportively, holding a heart up with her hands as she felt the Warblers disappointment.
"And in second place, this years runners up and winners of this bedazzled bowling pin I found in the dumpster, from Carmel High, Vocal Adrenaline." Sue continued.
This meant the new directions had won and they knew it. Trying to hide their excited beaming faces until their names were announced, they were practically bursting by the time Sue got to announcing them winners, "and finally, first place for this years invitationals, I don't know how they did it because they were sitting on stools, singing in unison. Ladies and gentlemen, the new directions!"
Sam and Katy rushed on stage to celebrate with the team. She immediately threw herself into Kitty's arms, lifting her off the ground slightly and squealing in excitement. Holding her at arms length as Rachel came over to join the hug, Kitty smirked teasingly as she saw the tear stains on Katy's face, "aww, we made Katy cry!"
Grinning, Katy didn't reply, only held her hand up to show off the new ring on her finger, watching joyfully as Rachel and Kitty's eyes widened and their squeals got even louder as they crowded her to look at the ring.
"He did it! He did it!" Rachel and Kitty chorused, bouncing up and down on the spot.
"I know, I know, I know!" Katy mimicked their happiness, bouncing up and down with them, "this day could not get much better!"
"I second that." Sam grinned, coming up behind them with Kurt and Blaine, stepping forward to hug and congratulate the two girls.
Shaking her head in disbelief, Kitty gave Sam a quick nudge as Blaine
