backstory
• childhood ; when daniela was four, she and her parents, brother, and abuela moved to los angeles. it was scary, starting school and being in such an unfamiliar place, but many hispanics lived in LA so she honestly fit in, and it turned out to not be so bad. she picked up on english pretty quickly, especially since her dad and abuela had gone back and forth between america and mexico a lot while working on getting their green cards so her dad could sponsor them. he taught them english during those times he came back, making it much easier for her and her brother to understand it faster. she and her brother were close being twins, and they always made sure to stick together
• teenage years ; [ warning, mentions of drug use ] things got pretty interesting when daniela became a teenager. she got into some trouble with her friend group during the summer after sophomore year, smoking and drinking when they hung out. her parents found out and were pissed, so they grounded her into her junior year for a good few months. for halloween she snuck out to a party where she got absolutely wasted and even tried what someone told her was molly. after ending up in the hospital that night, she turned things around. got her grades up which had been hanging low while also behaving much better. she eventually graduated and went to school at UCLA to be a nurse
• adulthood ; [ warning, mentions of domestic violence ] daniela was successful in getting through the nursing program, she'd always loved the idea of helping people and wanted some way to do it. her brother went on to become a teacher, which she always teased him about as he didn't seem like he'd be a teacher at all. right out of nursing school she got into a relationship with a guy she hung out with in high school after running into him at a coffee shop. but things turned pretty bad quickly, he became awfully controlling and isolated her from her loved ones for awhile, even her brother who she was super close with. after months, victor finally got through to her and helped her out of the situation. even though her boyfriend hadn't been very physically abusive, getting aggressive just a handful of times, it was still horrible and scary to deal with. and she'll never be more thankful for her brother. eventually she went on to meet eddie, and the two of them became close quickly and a relationship eventually started. things were rocky as he had become her first serious relationship after her controlling boyfriend, but they worked through it and eventually built a happy life together
