backstory

• childhood ; liz and nate had a great childhood growing up. their parents had a decent marriage and were well off financially. she and her brother got whatever they wanted and being so close in age, they'd always been close. she was also really close with her dad too, always being a daddy's girl. liz was always kind to others at school and was the type of girl to play with someone who was alone. despite the stereotype of rich people and their kids, she's quite humble.
• teenage years ; liz had it rough at the end of middle school when it came to grades and confidence in her appearance. luckily with blair's help, she had a total makeover and got some help learning how to manage school. she went into high school with a new look and better grades. freshman year was great, but then sophomore year came around. gossip girl's blog started and her dad got arrested for drugs and fraud. he deserved to go to jail and she accepted that, but she was so hurt by the way he betrayed them. after that she lets up on being a goody-two-shoes and drinks and parties more. nate sometimes has to get her under control, as well as chuck once they start dating. the rest of high school was an absolute roller coaster ride, but she made it through and graduated a year early with her brother after taking some courses in the summer.
• adulthood ; lizzie decided to take a gap year and enjoy herself after the last couple of years. she planned on going to juilliard for acting as she was honestly really great at it. she did end up going and ended up doing small appearances in shows and movies, not wanting any big roles. big roles took a lot of time and she loved her friends and family to be away too long.

howard archibald ; liz used to be super close with her dad. like almost closer than she was with nate. of course she didn't always see him since he worked, but there wasn't much she could do. she just enjoyed the moments she got to see him. until she found out the truth about his drugs usage and fraud. after that, he wasn't only a fraud in the eyes of the law, he was a fraud to her family. serena van der woodsen ; liz didn't like serena for awhile since she slept with her brother while he and blair dated. of course when she found out, she lectured her brother and called him out, but she was still mad at Serena. the two eventually became friends though a little while after serena and blair reconciled. ; lizzie and chuck were close due to his close relationship with nate. the two made silly comments to eachother and soon after her dad's arrest she developed a crush on him. he'd seen her absolutely wasted at a party the day after howard was arrested and she was taking her shirt off, so he put a stop to it. he helped her home despite her protests, getting her a little sobered up and to sleep. after realizing that the next morning, that's when the whole crush thing started. he'd been nice enough to take her home, it was sweet. she figured it would never go anywhere since he and her brother were best friends and, though only by a year, he was older. turns out she was wrong, and the two kissed. they kept their relationship on the down low since nate would freak out, but gossip girl exposed them. despite what nate wanted, they stayed together and he eventually accepted it.
